I personally think Scotty would try to confess and then find out that nobody told him about Carol and he'd be absolutely devastated, and then after a Wrath of Khan type sacrifice, which Scotty ends up surviving, Kirk ends up realizing he does love Scotty and doesn't feel the same about Carol and breaks up with her. Idk anything about Carol so bear with me y'all. And Jim never leaves his side. Because he's worried as fuck about Scotty.

An alternative is Sam helping Scotty AND Kirk out, because they both have a crush on each other but they don't know about the other's crush and Sam is like "omfg you're going to kill me" and becomes a wingman

I also hc they're like very lovey dovey, Scotty is very insecure in relationships bc either he's not used to them or not used to being in a GOOD relationship. He's very afraid of messing it up [definitely not projecting] but he's also very excited [either publicly or to himself] when Kirk is over. Kirk isn't as "excited", but that doesn't mean he doesn't love him, he just doesn't get as excited. He's a very good bf I would think, he cares a lot about Scotty and gives him face kisses occasionally. He lovveessss making Scotty flustered dude.
