This little boy turns 6 months old today! I can't believe I've been able to hold him in my arms for half a year already. He does so much, he's always eating and loves trying new things, he's always on the go, trying to run, but isn't quite there yet. He is the happiest boy, always smiling and laughing and getting into mischief. I'm a little late posting this, but my little man turned 3 months on Saturday. The time has gone so fast and he does so much already. He's already eating food, his favourite is banana and pears. He has so much to say all the time, and keeps trying to stand. My little monkey is 1 month old today. It seems like just yesterday he was born. Already he can do so much, it shocks me everyday. He's been lifting his head since day 2, rolling onto his side by day 4, and rolling fully over by the time he was a week. He loves looking at people and has the best smile for me. This is a post I never wanted to make. Sadly, just before midnight on Nov 30th I lost my baby boy. He died very suddenly from heart failure. He wasn't in any pain, it all happened in a few minutes. He was so much more than a cat, he changed my life and I will love him forever. My sweet angel baby. What a year

This last year has been one of the weirdest of my life. Oh very high highs and the lowest of lows. I know it’s been that way for most people, so my story isn’t anything special. It’s still my story though and I would like to think one worth telling. Like most people I spent a little bit of time last year at this time at home. Most places were closed, including where I was working at the time and I used it as a time of reflection.

Looking at my life then, I wasn’t happy with it. I was looking forward to my upcoming marriage, but that was really it, on a personal level I wasn’t where I wanted to be and felt stuck. I also felt like I wasn’t sure where I wanted to go with my life. If I’m being honest one year later, married in my apartment with my husband, in a different job I am feeling that more than ever. 

I know I want to write, but I also know that making that into a sustainable job is next to impossible. Don’t get me wrong, that doesn’t mean that I won’t keep trying, but I need to find a way where I can incorporate it into what I do, and hopefully get to a point where I can make a living on my more creative work.

Money of course is always an issue, I’ve spent my life being a starving artist. There was a time once when I thought there was mystery and glamour in that life. There isn’t. There is so much uncertainty, always working a job you don’t want to, and that never pays enough, so you never have the time needed to work on said art or writing, and when you do have a day off you are so tired and your living space is such a mess that it’s filled with cleaning and sleeping. I love that I went to college for my art, and I don’t regret that for a minute, I simply wish that I had maybe taken business or accounting as well so that I could have a regular job that would allow for a liveable income so I could have the ability and access to my creativity that I am in such desperate need of.

Currently, I am trying to work enough to save a little bit of money so that I can do my classes online, slowly as I have the time for it, so that I can hopefully transition into a more fulfilling job and also get some creative writing classes in there too to make sure I stay at the top of my game.

I am going to maybe make little updates on here every now and again, just to keep myself accountable. No goal is too big right? All you have to do is start, and then keep going from there.
