the deliberate quality to jon and martin’s relationship is what kills me. they’re both taking it so seriously, they’re constantly doing their best to communicate and to set boundaries. the world is horrible and it would be easy to slip into unhealthy self-sacrificial codependence or into taking out their fear and anger on each other but instead they’re working together and respecting each other’s needs and trying to look after themselves and each other. despite the broken world they’re still both working to build something unbroken and good, together? on purpose? they both care about each other and their relationship so much and they are determined to make it work… love
