i used to watch horse racing
Back home, i used to have a small tv in my room, and usually watch horse racing for fun.
I never bet on the horse with the best start. i always looked for that horse that to me, seemed to put in more effort. he usually has the worst, or second worst start.
you immediatly see that he s more commited to race. if the others are doing 95-98% of what they can, this guy is pouring 101% of his heart.
this guy would usually end up first or at least on the podium. those who had a good start would end up second or third.
Then after many races like this; i started betting on the last one; bad start , less effort than the others, usually finished last.
on the same theme, the US swimming team, London olympics, 100 meters, freestyle relay. That race just makes me happy. i watch every time i need motivation. Bernard was pulling away so fast. he was like a shark, a speed boat. in the first 25-50 m, he was 2 m in front of Lizac. you wouldn t believe he would catch up to him and beat him.
The American commentators were euphoric, they couldn t believe it. The French were destroyed. they bragged too much at the beginning and until the last 25 m. but then they lost their voice. you can t really blame them. they have a really good team, and they deserve to win too.
when he started, Lizac wasn t the first either. but he finished first.
Anyway, all that goes to show you that, it s never too late, if you put in the effort, you ll make it. and maybe, you ll even make it better than them. because of that grude, that hunger, that will to succeed.
to unleash the sayian within, you need passion. it will give that boost to go the extra mile. even when the odds are against you.
