Confused at his initial reaction, Morgiana tilted her head to the side. Asking if it was all right for them to be friends was making her question herself as to why she even asked him in the first place. “ I-Is it not okay for us to become friends, Mihashi? ” she looked at him worriedly as she spoke. Was she being too forward? Was she asking too soon? 

Seeing that he was now curled into the fetal position, Morgiana moved closer to him once again, placing her hand comfortingly on his shoulder before she spoke once more, “ If it is too soon, we can get to know one another better before we come to that conclusion. “ There was no rush, they could start easy and just hang out often before making it official. She didn’t want to worry her first friend here after all.

No- no, that wasn't what he was implying at all. He was elated at the idea of making new friends. He just... wasn't used to people wanting to. Most people got really annoyed with him, and part of him was wondering if she would end up just like the rest. He was pretty irritating, after all. 

He lifted his head up and wiped his tears away. Mihashi couldn't quite look her in the eye, but that was fine, since he wasn't good at doing that with anyone at all. He even had a hard time doing that with Abe-kun. 

"I don't..." he began, taking a deep breath and gulping down his fear. "... d-don't think it's not okay... I'd like that..." the second year continued on. 

"I-if you don't mind... being friends with someone like me..."

It never once occurred to the heir that his unfriendly tone could cause someone undue stress and despair. Normal human beings shouldn’t have to speak like that to get a point across. Normal humans, however, didn’t have to deal with the incompetence of subordinates. This was the only way that Togami could truly get results out of the people who worked under him. 

Such a method seemed to produce mixed results when dealing with those who weren’t employed by the heir, but it was still good to know that some people knew their place in society. This student… Mihashi. There were a few little kinks that could be ironed out, but he could serve as the heir’s personal assistant, should the need for one arise.

Soon, Togami and his baggage carrier had arrived at J-1, and the heir had heard the other sound out some sort of signal to alert him. The blonde made it a point to act somewhat quickly, unlocking the door with a key that had been provided to him earlier.

“Good. Now, take those bags inside and I’ll handle the rest. I don’t need you going through my things to put them in drawers and cabinets.”

“Afterwards, Mihashi, you’ll be free to leave.”

For now, that was all Togami would need of this new acquaintance, unless he decided to stay a while. The least the heir could do was offer even a small amount of hospitality. While the incompetent were let go, the hard workers always deserved a reward.

Ah! This guy remembered his name! It made Mihashi feel bad that he still had no clue as to who this guy was. Maybe he wasn't such a bad person after all? He had known people like that before- they had harsh exteriors but were actually kind of nice.

And, okay, yeah, it was kind of hard for him to imagine someone who bosses people around and threatens to kill them as being 'nice', but perhaps this guy was just a... little harsher than the others he had known? Maybe it was from his background and he was raised to be like that. Mihashi knew he couldn't just judge someone before getting to know them a little better. 

He found an empty space in the room and gently set each of the bags down. When the weight was finally gone, his arms flopped to his sides like two limp noodles. Hopefully, nothing bad happened to them. Just lack of blood flow, or something?

"Um..."

"Er..."

Okay, just ask him if you can help a little more, Mihashi. You can do at least that much. 

"Wo... would you like to go out to lunch?"

NO- Wait, crap! That wasn't what he wanted to ask at all! Where did that even come from?? 

"W-wa-wait! I mean... Do y-you want me to help you out at all! I-I don't have to go through your things but I can m-make the bed or help tidy up o-or!" 

Geez, he really screwed that one up.

Carefully looking over his schedule and comparing it with his own, Morgiana found it surprising that they were in the same year and they had two classes together. Maybe this hadn’t been such a waste of time after all. In a way, she’d found someone who she had classes with and because of that it was more than likely they would become friends because of it.

Handing his schedule back to him, Morgiana smiled, now standing on her feet. She offered her hand to him to help him up as she spoke, “ We have classes together. I guess we will be seeing each other a lot. “ It was a good thing and plus he seemed friendly, though a bit shy they would work on that. “ I think this is the start of us being friends, Mihashi. “ Even though it was pretty weird on how they’d become friends, Morgiana thought nothing of it. As long as he wasn’t scared of her.

Had he heard her right?? Or did he just imagine it in place of something else she had said? Start of being friends? With Mihashi? And a girl? This was beyond him. The only girls he really knew before here were his mom, Coach, and the manager, and since they were all so different it left him at a loss. But... maybe this once he'd trust his hears? Because she seemed serious when she said it, so... maybe she actually said it.

He slumped back, relaxed, with a weird expression (there wasn't even a proper word for it) stretching out on his normally worried face. Well... it was better than crying. 

Oh.

Wait, he was doing that too. Mihashi wiped at his eyes quickly, getting back into fetal position before she saw he was doing it.

"Is that..." His voice came out weak and muffled, but it came out. "Is that really... okay...? For us to be friends?"

Despite what Ishimaru had been trying to tell himself for the past few days, it most certainly was not normal to find yourself randomly awakening in places you had never been before.

…Days? No, it didn’t feel like just a few days any longer. His inner clock wasn’t quite up to speed at the moment, but he found himself more and more frightened by how vast the rift seemed between then and now the longer he focused on trying to remember where he was and where he had been. Waking up had never been difficult for him; he prioritized maintaining a tight schedule to the point that he didn’t even need an alarm- asleep by 10, awake by 6, for as long as he could remember. This morning was different though- his skull throbbed and his eyes felt scratchy and hot, but no matter how often he tried to stretch and blink it away, he couldn’t seem to snap out of what felt like a lifetime of weariness. How long was he out? And now that he was awake, where was he?

After examining his room a little more thoroughly, he found what was apparently his schedule and his uniform- making a mental note to himself that he’d need to get quite a few more of those- but for now, he was at least relieved to find that he had been enrolled in the right classes and signed up for extracurriculars relevant to his interests.

The first few hours of his morning had certainly been confusing ones for sure, but now that he had woken up enough to dress himself and head outside his dorm, he was starting to understand where he was, at the very least. It couldn’t really be mistaken for anything else- it was a high school. Not Hope’s Peak, thank god, but perhaps equal in scale and esteem. The windows were open wide, the air smelled fresh, the trees outside were comfortably familiar shades of yellow and orange- it was autumn, and from the looks of it, they were still in Japan.

The sheer amount of other students wandering around in the halls was more than a little discombobulating at first- especially considering that he thought he might have recognized one or two in the sea of new faces. It was no use though- so wrapped up in his own thoughts, it was no wonder they always managed to get away before he realized he could catch up to them. Exasperated and growing more and more desperate for things to start making sense again the farther he tunneled through the foreign hallways, Ishimaru hadn’t even noticed that he was nearly jogging until he almost crashed headlong into someone. He yelped awkwardly as he wobbled back to his feet, steadying himself as he held his hands out in the event that his unfortunate victim needed assistance getting back up.

“I-I’m terribly sorry! Please forgive me! I am fully aware of the consequences of running in the hallways, how idiotic of me! I do not know where my mind was! Are you alright?!”

Today had... gone by relatively normal. And that, unfortunately, was extremely refreshing for Mihashi, considering the other kind of days he'd been having lately. No kidnappings, no servant work. Just... class. Like a normal high school should be (minus all these crazy colorful people walking around, of course). Mihashi began to wonder if maybe he had been knocked into a coma or something and this anime-themed place was just his own delusions.

Part of him wouldn't have minded if he woke back up to his old life. 

He sang a song in his head to pass the time as he was walking and carefully dodging those around him. On the strap to his bag, he tapped the same tune, though you probably couldn't tell as a second party. His mind was elsewhere, besides trying to navigate crowded hallways. 

For example, the fact that this was only his third day here, but he was already drowning in homework- and now he had no Abe-kun to help him through it. But this was a fresh start, so he'd need to learn to be able to rely on himself. And it wasn't like he wasn't making any friends at all. Morgiana had even said she'd be his friend... and they shared classes, as well, so maybe they would be able to help each other in times of need.

And then there was his roommates. He hadn't actually been able to work up the courage to actually speak to them- after all, they were all scary in their own way- but maybe he'd...some...how manage to get along with them? It was a bit of a stretch, but... no, no. It was impossible. Even Mihashi knew that. 

He came back out of his thoughts just in time; he had almost bumped into someone while he was wandering his mind. Geez, what an idiot! He couldn't even walk down a corridor without making a jerk of himself! 

The brunet squatted down, covering his head from any on-coming attack he might have received. (From some of the things he'd witnessed while roaming the campus,  people seemed to always be looking for a fight.) 

"I-I-I'M SORRY!!!! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" he cried, shoulders tensing.

The familiar words were almost a chant to him. A naturally occurring order of words that was almost his mantra. 

But soon, there was no strike, no name-calling, no scoldings- no. They were... also apologizing? Mihashi glanced up at him warily, unsure if maybe this was a trap of some sort. 

This guy... was being genuine. Probably.

Despite his shaking hand, he grabbed the one held out to him. 

"N-no, it's alright... it was my fault for not looking where I-I was going, so... er... Y-you don't need to apologize or anything!! If a-anyone is the idiot here, it's definitely me!"

At least he was complying with her. Nothing would have to get rough between the two of them. Judging from his outer exterior he didn’t appear to be very well built or strong though. Looks can be deceiving, but Morgiana was sure she could overpower this kid if she had to and wanted to. 

Waiting for his answers she sat patiently only to hear him stutter out everything she wanted to hear a moment later. “ Ren Mihashi.. “ Another Ren. Perhaps he had some sort of distant relations to Hakuryuu and his family? Maybe or maybe not. “ I see. Well I am Morgiana. “ She now looked awkwardly down at the ground as she was looking for the right words to say.

“ I am..from a place that is far away. “ and it’s not like she was lying, the Dark Continent was probably pretty far from this place after all. “ Again I am sorry for bringing you here like this..may I see your school schedule? “ She held her hand out in front of him as she waited for the piece of paper to be placed into her hand. “ I would like to see if we share any rooms. “ Rooms, classes, whatever people called them these days. She was just curious.

A... far away place? Wow, she really must have had it rough coming all the way to Japan for school! Part of him wondered if she came here alone. Or maybe she had family that came with her?? He couldn't imagine being somewhere without his family- 

well, when he thought about it... that was what he was doing now, wasn't he? After all, he came here alone from Saitama. No friends, no family, no one he knows... 

The realization set in on him and he brought his knees up to his chest, listening to the girl speak.

Wait- wait, she wanted to see his schedule? Did he have that on himself? He awkwardly moved his position, grabbing his bag and digging through it. Mihashi pulled out a folder, shifting quickly and nervously through, trying to find his class schedule. He was sure if anywhere, it'd be in there. 

Ah! There it was. 

Carefully, he handed the piece of paper to Morgiana. Share classes, huh? He never even thought of that. Somehow, he felt alienated by such unique people that he had forgotten he was going to be attending the same classes as some of them.

This was how it should have been. Togami felt a bit at ease giving orders to other people, even those he had barely become acquainted with. As a leader in his father’s company, the heir was used to his commands being followed without question. Communications with boring, common people were not exempt.

“Save your apologies. I don’t need that sort of useless sentimentality. What I need is for you to shut your mouth and not open it again unless I directly address you. The task you’ve undertaken requires effort and concentration, and you don’t want to disappoint me.”

Eventually, the stranger had gathered up the last of Togami’s things, stacked so haphazardly on top of one another, yet somehow they wouldn’t fall. The heir followed along as the other boy moved slowly towards the intended destination. It was progress, even if it wasn’t how he intended it to go. Opening the door to the dorms seemed to be an even greater challenge. Eventually, even the tiniest of obstacles had been overcome. All that was left to do was find J-1.

“You had better know where you’re going with my things. If it takes longer it should to get to the room… I’ve already told you what was going to happen, haven’t I. Now, go.”

Mihashi gave a small nod in the heir's direction, trying to do his best to not cry. He felt a chill down his spine every time the blond spoke and he was uncomfortable- like, junior high uncomfortable, and there was really nothing he wanted more than to curl up in a corner somewhere and let it out because the burning sensation in his sinuses was driving him mad.

This guy was so cold, colder than many he'd met before. The brunet carefully looked at each doorway, counting off the letters on the floor. He was grateful for the fact that this guy was also on the first floor and so near his room. 

Without thinking, he quickly chirped, "I-I'm Mihashi, by th- eek!"

He caught himself, biting down on his lip to keep from speaking. Right, right. Don't speak unless spoken to. He had JUST said that, and Mihashi was already screwing it up. His lip wibbled and a few tears slipped out, but he did his best to keep it sucked in. He just couldn't do anything right, it seemed. The least he could do was not cry.

There they were. He made a small noise alerting the other- geez, he didn't even know his name!- that they had arrived at the desired location.

He felt his arms growing weaker. 

Uh oh.

He hoped this guy would open the door quickly so he could finally put all the bags down.

Okay..maybe she shouldn’t have taken him by surprise like that, hell, she had almost given him a heart attack by doing that. “ I am sorry for scaring you like that. “ She frowned, clearly regretful to what she had done. Sigh. It wasn’t like she wanted to do this, she just didn’t think that anyone would come with her willingly of course. Who would come willing with a stranger? He probably considered her even a bit terrifying now. Bad first impression. Good job Morgiana.

“ You are not hurt I presume? “ Worriedly, she checked his arms and legs for any injuries and when she was sure that there weren’t any, she left him be as she took a seat on the ground cross-legged. “ What..is your name and where do you come from and how did you get into this..academy system? “ Maybe it was a little too soon to jump to questions but to hell with it, Morgiana didn’t care. She was curious and sometimes her curiosity got the best of her.

Ah- besides being inhumanly strong, she seemed... rather normal? And definitely polite. Which was certainly a great thing for him and his heart. He gave a sheepish smile as she earnestly apologized and checked him for injuries before he could even object. And she kept true to her promise of not meaning to harm him, so he was able to settle down a little bit. 

He had just relaxed back when a sudden onslaught of questions made him jerk back up, face going red. Mihashi felt confused- more so than when he had originally been picked up. Did she not know where she was? And why him, of all people? Was this some type of prank on the transfer student? Mihashi couldn't put it past people, but... something just felt off about her. Maybe he was wrong?

"M... Mihashi. My name is R-Ren Mihashi!!" he replied. "Um- I-I'm from Saitama! Er, that's in the middle of the country... A-and I guess my parents mentioned it to me and I had them e-enroll me to this school... I don't think there's, um, really anything special about my arrival...."

It was just like the heir to unknowingly be intimidating. The aura that surrounded the blonde boy created a condescending, elitist atmosphere. For Togami, it didn’t matter who was being spoken to. If he was interacting with anyone, the exchange was usually short and to the point, so he would not have to waste unnecessary time with people he could barely stand being around. He might have been inclined to yield to royalty, if their pitiful personal fortunes could come close to his. 

Togami was a fine subject to be examined under the old ‘nurture versus nature’ aspect. Some could say that he was born an unhappy, selfish boy, whose only purpose in life was to make others feel like they were nothing. Others argued that his lifetime experience in the corporate world caused him to miss out on many childhood milestones that most people go through. His focus had never been on friendship at all, but how he could make millions doing what others couldn’t. At least, that’s what had been said.

His expression did not change as the person before him became distraught at such an abrupt request. Typical employee. So used to going about their own business, and when it came time for them to follow a direct order, they failed to perform to expectations. Such a cold way of operating was the reason why the Togami Conglomerate was considering layoffs. Why keep employees around if they no longer did their jobs as well as they should be?

Of course, once the heir realized that he had not approached an employee of the school, but a student, in all likelihood, it became a different matter entirely. He folded the bills back up and slid them into his pocket, satisfied at how his terms had been accepted.

“Worker or not, these bags need to be handled with the utmost care. Failure to do so will result in your termination. Take that as you will.”

“And I don’t believe I need to repeat myself. You already know which room these belong to. I’m accompanying you only to ensure that nothing is stolen. Also, I do believe I said for you to carry all of the bags.”

The boy jumped a bit in surprise at the harsh tone he received. No- no, that was to be expected. After all, he was just some boring kid asked to carry bags. It wasn't like the guy wanted to created a lifelong friendship or anything. Not with someone like him, anyways. He felt the tears building up again. 

But... more importantly... terminated? He wasn't working so... was... was he going to be terminated from life?! Once again, Mihashi felt panic arising in his throat. Was the blond going to attempt to kill him if he screwed everything up?! This was more than Mihashi was hoping for- no, more than he expected. He had heard elite kids were hardcore, but... murder?? 

"R-right! I'm sorry!!! I sh-shouldn't have even asked! I'm really sorry!" he exclaimed, choking out the apology and scrambling to collect himself again.

Still, Ren did as he was told, somehow managing to pick up all of the bags- although he wasn't able to see past them. He couldn't screw this up. Sure, he didn't exactly like himself, but that didn't mean he wanted to die, either. 

Mihashi awkwardly waddled towards the entrance of the dorm, trying to balance all the bags and not bump into anything at the same time. He was hoping that the elite kid would help out a little, but why would he want to do that...? He pushed his elbow against the door handle, trying to pry it open without having to put everything down and pick them back up. (And he had a feeling he'd get yelled at if he put them down, anyways.) 

At last, he managed to maneuver the door into opening, just enough that he could push it open with his foot. The blond guy could handle opening the door for himself, right?

The J dorm wasn't too far away from the N, which was the one he was in, so it wouldn't be difficult to find it....

Maybe.

The illustrious Tancho Academy.

Going to new schools seemed to become a regular occurrence for one Super High School Level Heir. Hope’s Peak hadn’t been too accommodating, in retrospect, even if Byakuya Togami had spent two years of his life there. Two wasted years, he might have commented. They had been filled with such useless trivialities, some of it actually sentimental, no doubt, that the heir did not mind forgetting those memories. Never look back. Focus on the now.

And now was the arrival of the young heir, numerous suitcases in tow. The bags were full of necessities for school life. That is to say, clothes, school supplies, money… Unfortunately, Togami would not waste his time dealing with the transport of such baggage. He had much more important things to be doing, such as arranging to be taught privately, as to not be seen in the presence of the boring people that surely walked the campus.

A good number of those people were out and about now, for some strange reason. Perhaps they weren’t students after all at this time of day, but the help that the school hired. It never at all came as an idea to learn who they were. They were beneath the heir, and thus, should be thankful that he even spoke to them.

So now, you have a young, rich, blonde boy approaching the nearest person with a few large denomination bills in hand, ready to do what he does best.

“Oi, you there. Take my bags to my room. All of them. Get some of your coworkers to help you, I don’t care. Just bring them to Dorm J-1. You should know where that is, right? And here’s some spare change for your assistance. Heaven knows what sort of paltry wages you people are paid.”

The day had already been a long one for Mihashi. He had already experienced things he didn't believe should have been possible to experience, but... unless he went mad, it definitely happened. But even so, he's starting to wonder why this place appealed to him in the first place. He was much happier at Nishiura, now that he managed to get the magical haze of Tancho out of view. (Or maybe it was better to say it was forcibly wiped away?)

He had seen a lot of gorgeous people here- which was weird, to someone as plain looking as he was- and many of them gave off their own unique airs that he hadn't ever seen around... er, normal people before. It was actually really exhausting, not that he'd say it out loud. So he was hoping he could just...

...go back to the dorms and get some sleep, or something. Well, maybe meet his new roommates (he'd never shared a room before, and now he was sharing it with three other guys. what a change) and then get some rest. 

But while he was lost in his own thoughts, he hadn't noticed those (or who, specifically) he had landed himself next to. With a sudden gust to his face, a fan of bills was shoved before him. And the owner of those bills was...

foreign, maybe?? 

No- no wait, that wasn't the point. And it wasn't like it was the first time money had been waved at him, or anything. It was that this guy was excluding an air of the elite, even enough to put someone like Mihashi in his place. 

Mihashi looked around carefully, face red and tears forming. Him? Was the blond guy talking to him? Well, there didn't seem to be anyone else around but... even so, Ren didn't work here... but maybe he looked like a bellboy or something. He... didn't want to let this guy down, if he was being kind enough to offer money (not that he really needed it). 

"U-um, well, I'm not... I- I'm willing to help out, b-but..." His voice trailed off as he looked at the bags. "Y...you don't need to pay me, or a-anything, since I don't actually work here..."

Although he wasn't very strong, Mihashi wiped the tears from his eyes and picked up three of the bags, turning his head back to the dorm.

"J... J-1, you sa-said, right...?"

Sigh. If it wasn’t one thing it was another. What a strange establishment she’d been placed in. Someone outside called it a ’ dorm ‘ and explained that she’d be sharing it with three other females who she didn’t even know. Slowly, Morgiana sat up from her bed, rubbing her eyes before climbing out and scurried to the door to take a peek outside. The hallways seemed to be clear, which could provide her a soundless escape.

Swiftly, she slid out of her dorm room and dashed down the hall being very careful how she moved to avoid anyone else’s gaze. Why was she sneaking around like this? This is foreign territory we’re talking about, she’s never seen any of this advanced crap and she doesn’t know if the people residing in this academy will do her harm. Now she stood in the middle of two buildings, the one she just exited from and from what she could piece together the other building was for the males.

But why were the males and females separated like this? Only time could tell. Now standing in plain sight, Morgiana decided that the first person who came by would become her lucky victim. Seeing a single person walk by, Morgiana hurriedly ran over to them, snatched them up giving them no time to think about what had just happened, and soon they were on the roof of the main school building.

“ Don’t scream. I’m not going to hurt you. I just need a couple questions answered. ”

Mihashi stepped out of the male dorms, fiddling with the end of his new uniform. It was... a lot stiffer than the one he had gotten used to at Nishiura. But he'd break it in! Definitely... 

But this place was different than anywhere he'd been before, even considering it was Japan. The campus was so big and there were so many... brightly colored students and adults around. It was kind of a culture shock, maybe? Mihashi wasn't sure if that was really the right word for it. He'd have to check it out later to double check. 

He was starting over fresh again. A transfer in the middle of a semester was generally unheard of, but when he found out about this place... something clicked and it felt right. Almost as if he had been waiting for it and decided for Nishiura instead. So he'd definitely try to come out of his shell a little bit more. Maybe not be as skittish and tweeky as he was currently. Everyone would probably appreciate that a lot more. 

No, they definitely would appreciate it more.

But before he was even able to react, he was suddenly in the air, meters and meters above the ground. Was this kind of thing even possible?! Probably not. He probably fell asleep while unpacking his things... but... even so, panic arose in his throat and he felt tears stinging at his eyes.

As soon as it had began, he was back on solid ground, er, rooftop. He tried to say something, but nothing came out, throat dry and squawking, almost like a bird.

"Qu-questions???? For me???" he finally managed to get out, pointing to himself and then back at the girl before him. What could she possibly want with someone like him?
