imagine youre maya jayashtri. you've had a long day and there's 7 minutes left til the store closes, when two middle aged gentlemen, carrying a basil plant and a single sweet potato and who are obviously in a fight make small talk at your register. they say they're new in town, that they bought your partner's childhood home from the shitty company that stole it from her.
you finish up your work and meet them outside. you insinuate that they're a couple and one of them starts screaming at you to watch your mouth. you apologize and they snort a line of coke from the handlebar of their broken electric scooter.
they tell you they want to improve this town and they have nine (9) buses. you have to see it to believe it so you follow them home.
you get there and see that they do in fact have nine buses, as well as an additional four roommates. you ask what their relationship is and they reply "dual male income household" and "San Fransisco," as if that means anything.
they invite you to hang out sometime but tell you that they have just moved and have no furniture, but you can meet them at the bar they somehow already co-own. before you leave, one of them runs at a superhuman speed and tears off the height chart from the wall of your partner's childhood home.
the busses have a dog (that is not theirs) plastered everywhere on them. they have a horse too. and the scooters are neon lime green. yes this is all important to note.

the fact the duffer brothers gave noah the painting, which was a reminder of will's unrequited love being used to uplift a poorly written and toxic relationship between two people who NEVER truly understood each other and didn't even end up together, as a wrap gift is straight up cruel and spiteful and heartless by the way. "what more could you want?" they dared asking noah about will's story when they hadn't even planned to write will and mike's "closure" scene and noah had to fight for that, for the BARE MINIMUM. fuck them and their homophobic asses.
noah saying “i feel like i was robbed of a good romance in stranger things” is the first time someone inside the machine has actually pointed at the elephant the show kept shoving behind nostalgia and neon. from a film and tv standpoint, it’s a performer finally naming the structural failure the text refused to confront: the only explicitly queer character was treated as an emotional prop, not a narrative subject. will’s arc was built on longing, repression, and service to other people’s romances, while the cinematography and blocking kept hinting at a story the writing wouldn’t let him have. that’s not subtlety; that’s a refusal to commit.
the industry has a long history of letting queer characters ache but never arrive, desire but never be desired, orbit but never be centred. stranger things followed that pattern to the letter, and noah calling it out isn’t unprofessional, it’s necessary. his performance carried the emotional weight of a romance the script wouldn’t acknowledge, and the disconnect between what he was playing and what the narrative allowed became impossible to ignore. saying he was “robbed” isn’t exaggeration; it’s a precise articulation of how queer characters are so often handled: sidelined, sanitised, or treated like narrative inconveniences.
good for him for saying it plainly. it’s rare to see an actor break the polite silence around mishandled queer storytelling, and it lands even harder because he’s right and because he’s gay himself.

You can see that teenage wonder... that dreamy look... HE'S SO SMITTEN. And it's more than just curiosity. For a few seconds, he completely zones out, lost in a daydream. We can literally watch him as HE IS DREAMING OF THE SAME THING (and oh, this boy will get that love and happiness)
That's the look of a boy who wants love and happiness so badly. It's the most pure, beautiful thing. My face actually hurts from smiling so much because of him. He just makes me glow with happiness I'M NOT FUCKING OKAY

theres a phenomenon that happens on here i have been calling "normalize loving parents posting" which is when you spend a lot of time on tumblr and are exposed to a lot of one specific counter-cultural narrative day in and day out until you start to forget what the dominant ideas are for most of the human population and thus feel the need to "defend" things that are widely accepted and popular. it's called this because of the time a bunch of text posts about shitty dads were circulating and then people with good relationships with their dad didn't feel included enough and started making "uhmmm can we normalize loving parents? not everyone has a deadbeat dad, MY dad is great" type posts, seemingly forgetting that good relationship with dad is a cultural norm that is expected and encouraged. i think its good practice, especially when im annoyed, to stop before i hit the post button and ask myself if this is a real issue or if im normalize loving parents posting. because often im about to try to normalize loving parents
