cornelius "neil" perry is a knight in the royal guard. after a near-fatal injury, toddrick "todd" anderson finds him in the woods. todd rushes neil back to his apothecary and has to nurse him back to health.

pitts and meeks doing sound and lights for welton's production of romeo and juliet and making a great team. meeks doing his latin homework between scenes during rehearsals and pitts scolding him because he can't see any of the sound controls under the papers. meeks writing sketchbooks full of lighting designs and showing them proudly to a very supportive todd, the stage manager. meeks teaching pitts how to fix all of the broken pieces in the lighting booth because welton doesn't prioritize the arts whatsoever. sharing a thermos of coffee with a missing lid which meeks calls a safety hazard but never bothers to remedy. being constantly bothered by the shenanigans of the resident mercutio, charlie. pitts bringing a reel-to-reel recorder to capture snippets of rehearsal. being constantly micromanaged by the assistant stage manager, cameron. the two of them constantly having to kick the base of a spotlight that stopped working before their fathers attended the school. pitts learning color theory just so he can understand what meeks is talking about. borrowing parts from the science department to fix broken fixtures, never intending to return them. staying up into the early hours during tech week, bickering and finishing each other's sentences.

todd anderson as the stage manager for welton's production of romeo and juliet and his confidence slowly growing. being volunteered to take the job by neil. his script full of elaborate notes, color coded to an absurd degree. dealing with cameron as his assistant and trying his best to stay cordial. finally doubling down on charlie's antics as mercutio and putting him in his place. treating everything like a puzzle and solving issues no one else sees. making sure the ensemble cast feels included. consoling knox's annoyance after he forgets benvolio's lines. reassuring everyone during run throughs. running lines with neil and comforting his fear around kissing juliet. validating meeks and pitts' ideas for sound and lights. sweeping the stage after every rehearsal. and becoming the grounding force that everyone in the cast needs.

charlie dalton playing mercutio for welton's production of romeo and juliet and getting way too into character. tormenting stage manager todd to get him to snap. flirting with the entire cast. always late. teasing neil, romeo, about the kiss scene that he's terrified for. deliberately mispronouncing words to piss off cameron, who is the assistant stage manager. improvising all of his blocking and nailing it every time, much to todd's chagrin. trying to make knox, playing benvolio, break, every single scene. portraying the role perfectly while breaking every rule in the book. arguing with shakespeare at every turn. moving papers around in the lighting booth to make meeks and pitts paranoid. and being infuriatingly good in the queen mab monologue and his death scene.
