miistergraves:
The moment he’d received a pidgeon from the hospital, Percival had gotten his Uncle to cover his classes for the rest of the day and apparated straight to New York City. Traveling between Boston and the city wasn’t TOO difficult and since he still had his apartment there for when he consulted for MACUSA, it wasn’t that much trouble. Since he’d heard about Isaias’ injury and the man had fallen into his coma, Percival had been by to VISIT him every couple days if he could manage it. Generally he sat and graded papers or tests and talked to the man about whatever was on his mind. The nurses assured him it helped. Other times he simply brought a book down and read aloud to the younger man.
But now Isaias was awake, or so the letter had said. The healers had told him that he would, eventually wake up, but they had no concept of when that would happen. It could have been months, it could have been years. It all depended on the man’s mind. He and Isaias hadn’t been particularly close when he’d been injured and LEFT the auror department but they’d kept in touch. He’d always been pleased to see the younger man when he returned for consult work and they occasionally wrote to one another.
Percival came up to the familiar hospital room and opened the door quietly. The man’s eyes were closed but he already looked better than he had. His face held a little bit more color than it had and when Isaias opened his eyes, Percival couldn’t help SMILING to match the other man’s. “You might want to revisit that sentence and consider what you just said.” He chuckled, moving to the side of the man’s bed and lowering himself into the seat with a sigh. “Regardless, I’d much rather be here, visiting an old friend.”
Isaias honestly couldn’t help but laugh himself, if he was completely honest he was down right grateful the other had come all this way to see him. He hated the hospital and making the doctors and nurses lives miserable only entertained him for so long. Isaias didn’t have many friends in the actual department, never really saw much of a point in it. The last friend he had honestly made was Percival and after he left he kept to himself.
The letters he had wrote the other over the years and seeing one another whenever Percival was brought in for a consultation was the only friendship he really had, and if he was perfectly honest it was more than enough for him. Though if he was ever entirely honest with himself he always wished he could see the other a bit more, put more of an effort in to getting to know the other better.
“That bad huh?” he teased, as he tried to sit up a bit more, wanting to be able to sit up so he could actually have a proper conversation. “How have you been Percival? Professor life treating you well?” He offered a smile, having every intention of avoiding all talk of how he was doing, and what had happened to him. It was easier, to just talk about something else, to not think about how close he had come to death, and how it’s very likely that he is now out of a job.
That time Isaias stole Percival’s Hairstyle.

“I honestly have no idea what you are talking about, I mean to even think that I am avoiding my paperwork? Well that’s just absurd.” He absolutely was avoiding paperwork, but she had no proof.

no one asked you
“I see no difference.”
miistergraves:
“What I said was-” Percival brought a hand up to the taller man’s face, fingers brushing over his stubbled cheek lightly. “-IF you were in here too long someone would notice. I don’t believe it’s been too long yet. Our meetings do take a while sometimes. Don’t you have a few more leads to run by me?”
He’d probably regret it later. Professionalism was paramount in his mind but Isaias was a far different creature and Percival knew he THRIVED on affection. It seemed he hadn’t been giving him enough recently. They’d both been busy with work. And if it took a few minutes of soothing the younger man’s concerns then so be it. “Please sit back down?”
Isaias was unable to resist the urge to lean into the other’s touch, it had been longer than he liked since he had felt Percival’s hands on his skin. Though despite the touch, he made sure to keep his hands right where they were in his pockets. He couldn’t allow himself to indulge because if he did, he knew he would have an even harder time pulling away when they would need to.
He knew what the other man was offering him, and it had been what he had wanted. However being reminded of the other’s need for professionalism was enough to hold him from taking Percival up on the offer. Isaias always had a tendency to put the other man’s needs before his own, and he knew he needed to do that now.
“I”m alright Percy.. you don’t have to.”
miistergraves:
The man was being petulant at best. Not that Percival was shocked by the development. They’d known each other too long for anything Isaias did to be a surprise to him. Percival sighed lightly and closed the the gap between them. “We’re not at ILVERMORNY anymore, Isaias. We’re grown men and the company we keep, the jobs we do…they’re not ones that allow for this kind of…deviancy.” He grimaced slightly at the word. “We need to be cautious. You may not like it but it’s NECESSARY. I’m only trying to keep both of us safe.” If anyone were to find out about them that they didn’t trust entirely, it could mean the end of both their careers. And Percival had worked too hard for too long to let that happen.
“You wanted my attention, now you want to leave? Seems YOU need to make up your mind.”
Isaias shoved his hands into his pockets, effectively keeping himself from reaching out and touching the other. He stood there and took the lecture he was given, not particularly able to do much more. He closed his eyes for a long minute, trying to calm himself down so he didn’t say anything else he might regret later.
“I did want your attention.. but you made it clear you didn’t want to give it to me so what else am I suppose to do Percival? You were worried that someone would notice how long I’ve been in here, and I was trying to fix the problem.”
miistergraves:
“Isaias-” Percival saw the purpose in the man’s movements, took note of how the younger man stiffened up and started to close down. He’d obviously OFFENDED him. “Wait.” With a twist of his fingers, his office door locked and Percival moved around his desk to approach Isaias. “I’d appreciate it if you took a moment to calm down.”
Isaias forced a deep breath, not even bothering to try and open the door knowing it wouldn’t budge. Instead he turned to look down at the shorter man, doing his best to remind himself that Percival was still his boss and he did need to watch his mouth. “You wanted me gone, now you want me to stay? You need to make up your mind.” the anger was still clear in voice, he understood when he wasn’t wanted.
“Now would you kindly let me out of your office so I can go do my job, because we are at work, remember?”
miistergraves:
“No. There’s nothing WRONG with it, Isaias, but we’re at work.” Percival glanced to the door of his office. “And if you stay in here too long someone’s going to notice.”
“Right.” His jaw clinched as he sat there, before springing to his feet. He moved to leave, though he stopped in front of the door for just a moment. “I should leave for Connecticut now instead of waiting till the morning.. I would wait for that lead on the case to go cold... That is if it is alright with you Mr. Graves.”
miistergraves:
“Really? My ATTENTION? That’s all?” Percival raised an eyebrow.
“Yes really. I don’t know if you noticed but we haven’t seen one another in awhile and I’ve missed you. Is that so wrong?”
miistergraves:
“Generally only when you WANT something.”
“The only thing I want from you is your attention and if that means telling you very true and factual things then so be it.”
miistergraves:
“FLATTERY won’t get you anywhere either.”
“Have I ever told you that you are by far the most efficient at getting you work done?”
