Topaz is the modern birthstone for the month of November while Pearl is the mystical birth stone (based on Tibetan origin). The zodiac gemstone for Scorpio is beryl. Lastly, the birthday stone for the day of the week ‘Wednesday’ is amethyst.

Moscow mule

4 oz Ginger beer, 1 1/2 oz Vodka, 1/6 oz Lime juice

The name for this drink was randomly selected. Moscow most likely was used because of the public's tendency to associate vodka with Russia. But mule? Some say mule was added to the name because ginger beer delivers a kick of flavor. Mules historically were used by armies to transport supplies, occasionally as mobile firing platforms for smaller cannons, and to pull heavier field guns with wheels over mountainous trails. And a double M sounds good as a marketing strategy.

Screwdriver

Decades ago, American oil workers in the Persian Gulf discreetly added vodka to their orange juice while on the job.

Lacking a spoon, the workers decided to stir the drink with a screwdriver. back then the Philips screwdrivers where flat headed.

SALTY DOG

Vitamin C is mainly found in fruits such as oranges, grapefruit, lemons, strawberries, and melons; or it is found in vegetables such as broccoli and bell peppers.

In 1747, British Royal Navy surgeon Dr. James Lind discovered that citrus fruits could prevent scurvy, a disease which particularly afflicted sailors who spent months at sea. In 1795, the navy began carrying grapefruits / lemon to provide sailors with vitamin C. grapefruits last for 6 weeks and lemon only 4 weeks. grapefruits hold more water and carries more fiber. Important when you are on a boat that's sailing through the sea.

DOG was a slang / informal for MAN, an experienced sailor had been through through hell and high water and has spent much of his life aboard a ship at sea. A salty dog is often given increased credibility by ship mates in matters pertaining to ship-board life and duties. Also known as an "Old salt".

quick fact In 1695–1735 thousands of gin-shops sprang up throughout England, a period known as the Gin Craze.

And Alcohol + vitamin C was an important part of their Diet. Thus SALTY DOG means and experienced Sailor and the DRINK (Gin and Grapefruit)

Extra fact. English soldiers who provided support in Antwerp against the Spanish in 1585, during the Eighty Years' War, were already drinking Gin for its calming effects before battle, from which the term Dutch courage is believed to have originated. According to some unconfirmed accounts Gin originated in Italy.

Strong words to use on a Resume

If you have ever had to write a resume for work or for an application, then you know the hardest part is figuring out what type of words to use that sound professional and intelligent.

Example: If an application asks you if you have any relevant experience for a job at a day care center and you have experience, like you have babysat children. You would look at the words in the columns to see what words you should use that will help your resume stand out. You might put down “Have supervised and attended to children on a regular basis.”
