^ the updated MikaKurda eras ~ now with 20% more MikaKurda ♡

May is a special month full of a lot of significant dates for me and my crack au on steroids. Probably the best one is May 2nd 2020 because that was the day I had a lockdown-induced epiphany insert time to go in the hole comic that brought me back to my CDF fandom roots to attend to some unfinished business… mostly that MikaKurda slowburn arc that I always thought deserved better than I was able to give it back in 2013. Coming back for them was one of the best things I’ve ever done for my own heart and soul. I’m not one of those people who’s naturally good at everything. Writing has always been my one thing that sort of clicks, and even then I struggle with follow-through. The fact that I finished Bloodline is nothing short of a miracle. Whether or not it’s a ‘good’ story is a matter of opinion to whomever reads it. What’s a concrete fact is that I worked really fucking hard and that’s good enough for me. And as I fondly stare at this art collage yet again I remain so profoundly grateful that a) several real human beings witnessed my brainrot and said ‘yknow what I’m gonna draw that bitch a picture as a treat’ And b) that I have reached an era of my adult life where I’m able to give myself a little budget to purchase beautiful comms from fandom mutuals. It’s a dark cold world out there but all of this is woven into the metaphorical blanket I pull over my brain when I need to escape somewhere cozy. I love it in here.

TLDR most people consider October to be CDF month. Which makes perfect sense, but May will always be CDF month to me. Happy May 2nd. Time to go in the hole.

short form writers look at people writing 100k+ fics as though this is some sort of talent given as part of a fae bargain, that the commitment required shows some sort of ungodly mental fortitude.

meanwhile long form writers look at people writing 1000 word one shots like god I would cut off my left nipple to be able to say anything concisely. i would love to play with multiple ideas. free me from the shackles of this child I have birthed. i love them but I now must take them to t-ball and doctor's appointments and they're going to destroy everything I own.

So I've gone ahead and pulled the trigger on posting the first three chapters of my Cirque Du Freak fic. The next chapters may take a bit, as I've got to show them to my wonderful beta reader first, and then I've got to write deeper into it ha ha.
