MIKE MARSDALE - producer

Earning his bachelor's degree in Film and Video from Drexel University's Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts and Design was not Mike Marsdale's first step on the path into a life and career surrounded by video and film production. On the contrary, this passion stirred and developed inside him years earlier at the very young age of 10. Since that time, Mike has been fortunate enough to seek out and successfully complete projects in his spare time as well as in semi-professional settings from live music recording and in-studio production to cinematography, still photography, and dozens of on-set field experience including but not limited to: directing, producing, sound mixer, and Steadicam. He is even known to occasionally DJ weddings. It is this unique pool of talents Mike brings to any and all of productions. His widespread experiences coupled with enthusiasm, professionalism, and a strong work ethic make him the obvious choice for any project you have whether it be music, film, video, or still photography. It's here; my last day at Meridian. In a little over a week, I will be starting a new job with BrightTALK in New York City. It seems like an unbelievable opportunity and the most natural next step for me; a chance for me to work in New York City as a Producer. I started my job at Meridian Health on March 4th, 2013. Surprisingly, it doesn't feel so long ago. In my time there I have had some amazing opportunities. I've been able to shoot and direct a television commercial with Olymipic Gold Medalist and World Cup Champion Christie Rampone and NFL Hall of Famer Harry Carson. I have been able to get to know both of those celebrities on a more personal level than I ever imagined. I have developed a wonderful working relationship with John Lloyd, Meridian Health's president and CEO and have had the pleasure of helping him deliver important video presentations to the entire organization and beyond. John was always open to my creativity and never minded acting silly on camera for one of our team member music videos to celebrate our rankings on Fortune Magazine's List of Best Companies to Work For. I have learned volumes of health care knowledge from hundreds of physicians and surgeons whom have trusted me with telling their stories through our "Expert Videos". I have met patients who have used our health services to overcome some of the most adverse diseases and have become survivors. They shared personal stories, laughs and tears of joy with me and trusted me to present those stories through video. One man in particular was named Bill. Bill lost his wife to Alzheimer's disease and used Meridian at Home to care for her. Bill was extremely grateful for the care that Meridian provided to his wife, Betty. I felt a personal connection with Bill. When I met him and heard his story, I was dealing with the suffering and loss of my grandfather, who also had Alzheimer's. Bill and I have stayed in touch and, at 91 years old, he is someone I am lucky to call my friend. I have been able to stand in the operating room with world renowned surgeons and witness first-hand the magic that they perform on sick people. It's truly amazing what these men and women do every day with another human life in their hands. Most of all, I have made personal connections with some amazing co-workers and hope to stay in touch with as many as I can. I believe that I learned something from every person I interacted with, especially my manager Margaret, who was by my side, "in the trenches", from day one, molding me and teaching me, and being nothing short of a mentor. Thank you to my Meridian Health family. I will always cherish the time we shared. Until we meet again, "Mars"

Meridian Health Fortune 100 'Happy' Video - 2014

Who says you can't have a blast at work?! In honor of Meridian Health being named a Top 100 Company to Work For by Fortune Magazine, I produced a fun video mimicking Pharrell William's music video for his song "Happy". We traveled to all of Meridian's campuses and got as many Team Members to participate as possible. The footage that we captured is all real. Who would have known healthcare employees could break it down like this?!

Update

I feel like I haven't been able to post too much as of late.  For the past three months, I have been working as a videographer for Meridian Health's Communications and Marketing Department.  Also, during that time, my partner, Joe and I have taken our new company "Strange Dream Films" to the next level.  Our website is nearly ready to launch and we are very excited about the future of this new entity.
