Anyone can fall on hard times, or have a period during which a little help doesn 19t go amiss, which is why these support systems exist. A good way to celebrate Social Security Day is to think about the more unfortunate members of society and do something for them.

Cooking a traybake or a big stew and taking it to a soup kitchen is one good idea. Another good idea is to volunteer for a shift in that same kitchen. Send the kids out to mow the lawn of an elderly or infirm neighbour, or have a yard sale and donate the proceeds to a homeless charity. Have fun, but be generous as well.

Why World Hepatitis Day is Important

It 19s a global epidemic

Hepatitis is not one of those diseases that only affects certain demographics or specific regions in the world; you can get hepatitis anywhere. It 19s estimated that about 400 million people are infected by hepatitis, worldwide. You can contract hepatitis through blood contact or sexual intercourse. A mother can pass it to her child. That 19s why hepatitis can affect people in places where there's little information about the impact on unsafe sexual practices or drug abuse. Left untreated, hepatitis can lead to dangerous and sometimes, fatal liver diseases.

We 19ve made huge strides

Here 19s the good news: over the last 100 years, there 19s been considerable progress in preventing and treating hepatitis. There are vaccines for both hepatitis A and B. At an early age, people in developing countries automatically get these vaccines from their doctors. Hepatitis C is easily treated and hepatitis D and E are rare.

But we still have a long way to go

Almost 90% of the people who have contracted hepatitis don 19t realize they 19re infected. The World Hepatitis Alliance has set a challenging goal to eliminate viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030. With your help, it 19s an achievable goal.

World Hepatitis Day is a public health holiday held each year to raise awareness about hepatitis, a group of infectious diseases that attack the liver and affect people all over the globe. The day also promotes testing and prevention for all five types of the disease: A, B, C, D and E. The World Hepatitis Alliance established this day in 2008 but did you know it was originally held on May 19? The date moved to July 28 in 2010 after the World Health Assembly decided to commemorate the birthday of Baruch Samuel Blumberg, an American physician who discovered hepatitis B in the Sixties, eventually winning a Nobel Prize for his work on the virus and its vaccine.

History Of Hobby Month

Since humans became sentient we have always had hobbies. It started out with smaller hobbies, such as swimming, hunting, and drawing on cave walls. We have always done things to keep ourselves busy during the long days, but where did the word hobby come from?

The origins of the word hobby suggest that initially it was the word given to pursuits that others thought somewhat childish or trivial. However, as early as 1676 Sir Matthew Hale, in Contemplations Moral and Divine, wrote 1CAlmost every person hath some hobby horse or other wherein he prides himself. 1D He was acknowledging that a 1Chobby horse 1D produces a legitimate sense of pride. By the mid-18th century hobbies flourished as working people had more regular hours of work and greater leisure time.

They spent more time to pursue interests that brought them satisfaction. However, there was concern that these working people might not use their leisure time in worthwhile pursuits. The hope of weaning people away from bad habits by the provision of counter-attractions came to the fore in the 1830 19s. This has rarely waned since. Initially, the bad habits were perceived to be of a sensual and physical nature and the counter attractions, or perhaps more accurately alternatives, deliberately cultivated rationality and intellect.

All month long, this celebration is one of the easiest things to do. All we have to do, is enjoy our hobbies. Now, there are hundreds of hobbies that people have in this world, so we will add in a few of them as an example of what hobbies there are around the world:
