It Will Hurt
It seems that putting "self" to death is the path to happiness. Get your eyes off your own needs and tend to those of others. Good wake-up call I came across today.

How few there are who have courage enough to own their faults, or resolution enough to mend them.

There's such a thing as trying too hard. You've got to sing like you don't need the money -- Love like you'll never get hurt -- You've got to dance like nobody's watching -- It's got to come from the heart if you want it to work."

The Real Secret to Getting What YOU Want in Life
You know what -- I'm feeling particularly inspired tonight. As I sip my Yellow Tail Shiraz-Cabernet wine, I decided to impart some wisdom that will hopefully help make your life a little easier and help you get out of your rut and into getting the things you want in life.
At a party I recently attended, the host knew I was into fitness and asked me how I kept lean and looking in shape.
I went on to explain to him something that very few people understand, although they do it unconsciously all the time. I wonder if he really understood or appreciated what I was telling him.
At the end of the conversation, he was very impressed with my "will power" and I have to admit -- I was quite flattered at his compliments. What I did to get to where I'm at was very impressive to him but truthfully, it did not exceed the physical or mental capacity that most of us already possess.
I explained to him a simple concept-- a natural law of nature -- that I used to my advantage. It's the same law that keeps the planets in orbit and causes the leaves to grow in the spring and then to fall to the ground in autumn.
On second thought -- I explained two powerful mechanisms.
The first success "secret" I activated was the power of choice. More specifically, I made a decision. When I was looking at myself in the mirror one day back in the year 2002 at a hefty 240 pounds with fat rolls and a nice Buddha belly, I told myself that enough was enough.
I decided at that point that I would figure out how to get in shape and stay that way. I also told myself that I'd never go back to that weight again. If other people could do get slim and stay that way, I would find out how it's done and do the same thing, even if I had to die trying.
The second thing I did was to create a habit. As I mentioned before I harnessed a law of nature -- and this was it. My decision and burning desire was the catalyst which caused me to develop an obsessive behavior pattern. Before long, eating right and exercising became a natural "need to do," just as going to the bathroom and taking a shower is.
At the point you develop a habit, everything becomes relatively easy. Although there are exercises and workout days that I don't particularly like, I would still do them, even when I'm fatigued because I HAD to. If I didn't, it would feel unnatural -- like something was missing.
So to wrap this session up and to summarize the little "secret" I gave you practically free, decide first that you want to make a change come hell or high water and develop a habit of doing the thing that will bring you closer to your goal.
Once you do, your success will be almost guaranteed.
Two Good Tips I Learned Today
Ready-fire-aim. Bust procrastination by taking action immediately after setting a goal, even if the action isn’t perfectly planned. You can always adjust course along the way.
Minuteman. Once you have the information you need to make a decision, start a timer and give yourself just 60 seconds to make the actual decision. Take a whole minute to vacillate and second-guess yourself all you want, but come out the other end with a clear choice. Once your decision is made, take some kind of action to set it in motion.
