what   is   loneliness?       is   it   emptiness,    a   never-ending   void   spilling   from   open   pores?       is   it   the   absence   of   companionship,    or   the  presence   of   it?       a   room   full   of   people   can   transmute   into   acid   gas,     drowning   her   in   poison.       [new   york   used   to   be   full   of   it.       rooms   full   of   people,    inebriated   by   their   own   loneliness.       los   santos   was   different:     a   rhythmic   debauchery,    man’s   most   primitive   needs   hung   up   on   dazzling   billboards.]       at   some   point,     her   eyes   must   have   fallen   shut,     the   waves   of   the   ocean   splitting   against   the   shore   sounding   closer   than   before.        it   must   have   been   for   a   moment   too   long,    for   when   they   reopen,     his   face   is   checkered   with   small,    hazy,    orbs.

❛❛     DON’T   BE   RIDICULOUS.       I’M   NEVER    LONELY.     ❜❜       something   akin   to   amusement   takes   form   at   the   corners   of   her   mouth.       the   patio   has   long   emptied;    empty   glasses   and   plates   still   strewn   across   tabletops.       the   late   evening   breeze   blows   rhythmically   through   the   atmosphere,     moving   her   hair   as   spilled   ink   against   the   skin   of   her   cheek.       [in   the   corner   of   the   patio,     at   their   table,     with   the   shine   of   the   string   lights   reflecting   on   their   faces,     they   almost   look   like   normal   people.]       a   clink   as   the   neck   of   the   bottle   touches   the   glass,     perspiration   coating   her   fingers,    aureate   liquid   swirling   against   the   crystal.

❛❛     i   tried   to   call   you,     one   or   twice.       you   didn’t   pick   up.       not   that   i   expected   you   to.       you’re   not   the   most   reliable   person   i   know.     ❜❜      a   second   glass   is   filled,     the   now   empty   bottle   between   them.       ❛❛     i   kind   of   expected   to   see   you   on   the   FIVE   P.M.   news.       a   john   doe   found   in   some   ditch   outside   los   santos.       [A   PAUSE.       glass   is   picked   up,    words   spoken   against   its   brim.]       this   city’s   getting   dangerous,   mikey,   with   all   these   robbers   running   around   in   our   backyard.       you   never   know   what   could   happen.     ❜❜

“     IT'S A LONG STORY .    ”        no it ain't : trevor being trevor hacked off the ear of some psycho drug lord & then kidnapped his wife so they had to go into hiding ; credits roll , 𝓕𝓘𝓝 [...] yet what's a story without the heroic star , its rising action / a buried history forcibly resurfaced , a man thought dead ten years ago returned . LONELINESS . q. what is loneliness ? [a. sulking in a car miles down dirt trail , mourning the loss of de santa and resenting the resurrection of townley] trapped in godforsaken trailer turned fucked - up time capsule with nothing but the clothes on his back soon sullied by mud and crusting blood : regressed to midwestern trailer trash .

shedding away pathetic past again ... or so he tries . on the outside , endeavor is successful : MICHAEL DE SANTA IS SUCCESSFUL , leaving a gorgeous albeit now empty house ( q. what is loneliness? ) in a luxurious car purring down los santos streets to sit across from HER / and for the first time in a long fuckin' time ? maybe he's not so lonely .

smoke curls lazily away from between his fingers and dissipates in the breeze , flicking ash over the edge of the table as he surveys the world around them ( what a fuckin' shit - show ) searching for the nightmare lurking in the shadows ... then settling on the familiar gleam of gold at her throat: a vangelico souvenir . lester would shit . the thought , the thrill , makes him smirk around cigarette's mouth . “     yeah , well . . . for what it's worth , i ain't as unreliable as i used to be .    ”

𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐑𝐊 ; an oath to never return severed , just as he had believed intended for all ties to the past to have been . one fuck - up ━━━ one unaccounted for ━━━ brings judas back to face his judgement .

they stand completely still amongst the dead [the real & eternal / the newly discovered & final puzzle piece / the since risen] in a world becalmed , an antithesis of los santos' bountiful distractions to hide behind as they're made to face the truth laid at their feet . gusts of freezing wind cut across his face and sting his eyes , but so much as a mere blink or twitch could prove fatal as both stand poised to shoot . finger on the trigger , aim steady : he stares down the man ahead / TREVOR'S A TACTLESS & WILD ANIMAL , ALWAYS HAS BEEN ( reflection of michael's imagination is mirrored back in granite headstone reading townley ... he doesn't see it . ) THAT'S WHY HE HAD TO GO .

HE AIN'T DYING HERE , not in this town . no fuckin' chance . the only possible witness as to what's to come is the silent exhumed [...] this could all be put to rest , once and for all , “ I DIDN'T WANT IT TO COME TO THIS .   ”
