unfound beauty / open
Sometimes when your own region failed you, it meant venturing out into others.
As dark of a statement that may have seemed, Wallace shook it off with ease. It just so happened that the Hoenn region was lacking in a style of fashion which he felt comfortable with. It happened every few seasons or so. Kalos would have accessories that would fit perfectly with something from Kanto and Sinnoh would have the perfect pair of shoes to make an outfit fabulous.
That was how he found himself in a department store that he couldn’t recall the name of in a place much too far from home.
With all the magnificent fabrics hanging off of the rails, Wallace felt almost spoilt for choice. He took in the colours, the materials, the cuts, the stitchings and thought of how each outfit could accentuate a different contest move. With a soft smile on his face, he went to reach one of the shirts hanging from the rack.
What he hadn’t expected was for his own hand to meet another. Pulling back quickly he stood in shock for a moment.
“Oh... I apologise, I didn’t see that you were looking at this one too.” He laughed slightly, hoping to brush off any awkward tension that might have been there.
“You know, the colours of this would really match your complexion...” Wallace took another look at the garment, he knew it was the last one, but he suspected that it would look great on his companion also. Possibly, even better than what it would have looked like on himself.

Bay Side }} Wallace & Wadanohara
promiseofthesea:
“Why yes,” Wadanohara looks up at the stranger who stands by her, gazing over the beach proudly. She isn’t aware that he was there, of the sea even has it charm over the youth growing by Brieve. There was only so much magic that could be captivated by the city when natural beauty lurked over by the sandy dunes and bottomless waters of the island. Such ancient landmarks would surely have as much, maybe more, charm besides the modernizing society behind their backs. At least, the youngest out of the two believes it.
“There’s only so much we can see from above! It’s quite spectacular knowing we know so much above land but beneath the ocean is a mystery!” Wadanohara folds her hands behind her back and hums cheerfully. “It’s even really fun to do snorkeling too by the pier….”
“Snorkelling?” Wallace pondered for a moment. He couldn’t recall a time when he had actually been snorkelling, but he supposed he would have enjoyed it - should he ever find the time to try such an activity. “I suppose so..”
“Perhaps the people by the pier would be able to able to give lessons? I wouldn’t want to try it without any guidance. Water can be horrendously unforgiving if you allow it too.” He leant forward slightly, knees to his chest, and placed his hand into the water. While he loved the feel of it against his skin, the feeling of it filling his lungs was not as enjoyable.
Wallace would prefer not to go through that kind of experience once more. Instead he turned to the girl next to him, trying to forget the memory that had quickly came upon him.
“I assume you’ve been in that case? Snorkelling I mean.”

I was looking for pictures of Wallace without his hat but what I found was mostly gay porn so I drew my own. Being an artist is suffering,
sophiehattersmovingcastle:
“Oh, um, change of conversation?” Sophie sounds more baffled than ever. What an opportunity struck into everyday talk! Even as she is frigid and “jumpy” over speaking when out of her shop and work-related activities, when said words fall out of Wallace’s mouth, she stares down at the book, towards the teal-haired man and repeats. As she breaks a glance from him, she squeezes her hands shut and rest them onto her lap, her lips draw into her mouth.
“I would gladly appreciate that, but,” she huffs and looks up towards him, “I have nothing interesting to speak of, sadly.” Sophie nods and looks back down. “I’m not much of a conversation holder, I’m sorry.”
Wallace resisted the urge to sigh at that. There was always things to talk about, even it was something as mundane as the pouring rain outside the library. He turned another page of his book, thinking of what he could ask Sophie.
“Well then, I hope you don’t me trying to turn the conversation on yourself?” He smiled and placed a post-it note on a paragraph he wanted to read before shutting the book. Glancing up at Sophie he placed one hand on his chin and made a vague hand gesture with the other.
“What exactly is it that you do? Why do you do it? What is your daily motivation for getting through the day? You don’t have to answer of course, but some people find it easier to talk about themselves rather than other meaningless comments.” He let a small noise similar to a laugh.
“Unless I’m really not worth your time? Should that be the case I can take these books and leave, at least then you would have an enjoyable time rather than have a beautiful young man pester you.” Wallace winked. It wasn’t exactly flirting, but he hoped it would get a laugh out of her, though he highly doubted it given her previous reactions to their conversation.
;; day thirteen
If your muse was able to have a conversation with a younger version of themselves from the past, what would they tell them?
Dear the younger me,
I know this seems ridiculous, writing you a letter that you’ll never receive, but perhaps it would do us both the world of good if I actually sat down and wrote this. After all, it has been 15 years, and I feel I need to tell you that what ever you’re feeling will pass.
You’ll find your inner beauty when you’re at your worst, which I’m afraid to say is yet to come. You’ll lose contact with your closest friend for nearly 10 years. It will hurt. There is no way of stopping it, but let me tell you, Mikuri, I promise you’ll meet Daigo again. You may not have the same names as before, you may not even be the same people you once were but you will find each other again. I promise this.
You’ll find our sister will give you the greatest gift in a small baby niece. She is the most precious thing and grows up into a beautiful young woman. She will help take your mind off those negative thoughts and feelings you have for a while. It may take a while but I promise, you’re normal Mikuri. You are. Please stop doubting that this is the case.
You’ll enter pageants and go to study abroad and there are so many great things that are awaiting you. Please don’t allow yourself to dwell on your teenage years when there is so much left in the world for you to see. It’s only just the 2000s after all. You’re about to go through a technological change and everything will seem so strange once you hit my age and remember it all.
But it is better, and I’d like to think I’m turning out okay.
So please. Keep your head up Mikuri...
From you, 15 years from now x
(P.S. We go by Wallace now!)
;; day twelve
How many times has your character felt as though they’ve fallen in love? Do they believe in true love and soulmates? What about the Legend of the Red Thread?
When he was younger he had hoped he was just a late bloomer, that he would eventually feel romantic feelings towards other people. However it never came. Sure, he knew he was attracted to their looks, but he never experienced those butterflies in his stomach, or the little flutters in his heart. He didn’t feel the intense connection with another person that others talked about when he asked, but he wanted to. He desperately wanted to feel those feelings too. He didn’t want to be outcasted and thought of as abnormal.
Once Wallace got slightly older, he began to feel sexual attraction to people. A thought that caused him to scream into his pillow at night, crying how he wasn’t normal. He wanted desperately to have romantic feelings towards anyone. He would throw himself into relationships in the hope he would begin to feel something even close to a crush. He never did. Wallace knew that he only was really aesthetically attracted to people, and that left him with a gaping hole of guilt. He didn’t want to come across as using people for his own needs.
It took years before he promised not to hurt someone by entering a relationship knowing he would feel anything romantic towards them. It took him even longer to find the word aromantic and feel comfortable putting it against himself. IF he was to engage in a relationship he would hope the person (or people) involved would understand that he wouldn’t be able to love them the way they probably wanted.
Wallace does believe in soulmates, but rather than being the person whom you’re tied to in the hopes of loving, more like people who you’re supposed to have in your life. Family and friends. Those people were born for the purpose of being in your life.
He also does believe in the Red Thread of fate. One of the whole purposes of him coming to Brieve was to check the theory and mythology behind it. That and he was jealous that Steven had beaten him there first.
;; day eleven
When was the last time your character was truly proud of themselves? What made them feel so proud?
Wallace is always smugly proud of himself, he just doesn’t allow that to show often. The last time he was proud of himself truly was the second he had his certificate in his hand saying he had graduated from his MA and had been given a job at Bellona to instruct Mythology and World Origins. He had been toying with the idea of going into teaching for a while before graduating and he was surprised to find that Bellona would allow him to instruct at their institute. Had he pushed his education he could have been a professor of his own.
The feeling of happiness and pride was so strong that day that Wallace honestly thought that by the end of the day his jaw would have been injured from all the broad smiles he had been sharing throughout the day.
He managed to complete a goal he set himself, of course that would have made him proud. When he pushes himself and gets what the ending he wants, Wallace will always pride himself for working so hard.
;; day ten
Describe what happiness is for your character. Is it with someone? Alone? Is it being in a certain place? Elaborate.
There is rarely time that Wallace is found to be upset by something. He takes each thing he encounters with a grain of salt. Happiness now seems to be a way of living. He’s learnt over that there is little point getting sad over things and now just lives his life the best that he can. If something makes him unhappy he’ll resolve the problem so that he no longer is.
There isn’t really a way to describe it when happiness is more of a personality trait to him now. It is so engrained into him that only the very worst of situations can make him sad. I’m talking, end of the world scenario here, everything is about to end and no one is going to be alive sort of thing.
He finds happiness in other people. Sootopolis. His daily routines. Wallace feels that if he can’t find happiness in the small things at his age, then he’s going to live the rest of his life regretting his choices when he was younger. The one thing Wallace wants to prevent is turning into a cynical old man who only complains because he had nothing better to do. Or worse, only complains because he couldn’t find happiness in his own life.
minisuns:
“T-that sounds super scary-!” Yachi yelped a bit, “I’m not sure what’s scarier: the water, or the rocks under the water! It’s like one big accident waiting to happen! What if you fall off?”
Wallace stared at the girl. “That was practically the point. It would be awful if you had gone in without any knowledge of the risks.” He didn’t really feel like diving in and saving her should she end up flailing about.
“It’s usually fairly safe, if you know how to swim in a current. You mostly have to make sure that your head stays above the water. If you remember to do that then you won’t hit your head on the rocks underneath.” Or at least, so he was told.
“If you really want to do it, I can sit by and watch. At least that way if you do end up in some kind of trouble you’d have someone to rescue you, hmm?”
minisuns:
“Floating the river looks fun, but also super dangerous…”
I think I may die if I try…
“Water unfortunately can be. It’s surprising how something which can appear so calm can also be so rough and unforgiving.” That didn’t make it any less beautiful to Wallace though.
;; day nine
What is your character’s morning routine? Do they give themselves a lot of time to get ready, or do they rush out the door? What time do they wake up? Does their morning ritual change depending on what day it is?
Waking up in the morning is one of Wallace’s favourite things about his day. Wallace will wake up early in the morning, usually around 6:30am, and reach to his bedside table to grab a bottle of water that he would have placed there the night before. Usually this drink of water will by a cup of freshly brewed, loose leaf cherry green tea.
Once is brewing he will take this time to sort out the outfit he wants to wear, and the perfect accessories to go with it to ensure he will look his best throughout the day. He’ll go back to his tea afterwards, slowly allowing himself to wake up before heading to the bathroom to shower.
Once clean he will sit in front of his vanity table, in nothing but his towel, and apply moisturiser to his face. The last thing he wants is to have dry skin on his face. He’ll then add the smallest amount of foundation, and mascara, just to boast about the fact he has smooth skin and long thick lashes. He will then paint his nails with a sparkly green polish. He will wait for them to dry and then begin to blow dry his hair.
Given the length of his hair this takes the most time. He will then brush out the knots and kinks before trying it into a tight bun. Wallace will finally get dressed and will somehow will still be able to leave the house early.
This routine will change slightly depending on whether or not he has classes to teach that day, or if he is sick. If he’s sick he will get as far as the shower before passing out on the bathroom floor. It is there he finally admits he ‘might have a cold’.
;; day eight
What are your character’s hobbies or passions? Would they consider making a career out of one of them, if money wasn’t a factor?
Two of Wallace’s passions lie in beauty and in water. When he was a young boy, Wallace was able to see beauty in the water, but also knew of the dangers that lurked within. He knew not to go swimming into water that was too deep. One day he was able to witness a small child be taken under by rough waves and vowed to only swim in calm waters since then. He would never try and make money from water, there was no reason to him when he had other interests and would be far too distracted to be a life guard. Plus, Wallace is happy where he is.
For a while he made some money in beauty pageants, prizes from placing in the finals mostly. However that would always take up a huge amount of his time. Should he want to participate in such things again he would have to take weeks off in preparation. Something he just cannot afford at this current moment of time.
If he had the capability to go out and pursue his hobbies and interests, without worrying about his financial situation, he would. But not everyone can be son to a man who runs a multimillion company.
;; day seven
Does your character have any regrets they wish they could change? Describe the event that fills them with the most regret. If given the chance, would they go back and try to fix things? If they did, how would it alter their future?
Wallace is not the kind of person who keeps grudges or even regrets the things he does. The closest feeling to regret that Wallace has resides in the fact he had thought good of Lisia’s father, but he supposes that it isn’t regret he feels, more likely guilt that he hadn’t seen it coming. It had exploded in their faces the day he left their lives and it was because of that Wallace had taken the father figure roll in her life.
He however wouldn’t change the way it happened or what happened after it. He loves his family to pieces. Yes they had a rough patch for a few months with his leaving, but they still came out okay in the end. If Wallace was completely honest, it brought him and his sister much closer together and he’d never regret that. Good things can come out of bad situations.
;; day six
What are your character’s study habits? Do they enjoy learning, or do they shy away from intellectual pursuits? What is their learning time (auditory, kinaesthetic, visual)?
Wallace is a quiet studier. He prefers to print out all the information, take a highlighter and sit in a comfy beanbag and rewrite all he own notes. During a study session it is very common for pages of colour coded notes to be scattered across the floor until he’s decided that he’s had enough of studying for the day.
He quite enjoys learning about new things, but likes to steer his interests towards water, mythology or world origins when he does. Wallace finds it easier to take his own notes rather than have someone relay the information onto him. It is because of this he can only listen to Steven rattle on about rocks for so long (before he tries to shove one of his beloved rocks into his mouth to shut him up). When people talk about a subject, it bores him.
He also finds that when he does something, he finds it easier to learn. If he physically does something then he can get his head around how these things work and operates. He can be very hands on in his learning.
