Successful story from mia2004
Well,.I first tried LavaLife,.but that site was so jacked up,..people are just on there to meet someone for a night,..and I thought that being Military people would have a better sense of what they wanted. I worked two jobs,...and didn't want to meet anyone at a bar,.or through friends. I started talking to this Chief Warant Officer from Korea. He was stationed there,.and was almost ready to move back tothe states and retire.I was a little sceptical at first ,.but the longer we talked on Milita

10 Things To Consider Before Dating Someone In The Military
If you are going to date someone who is a member of the military, part-time or full-time here are a few things to consider and be ready for: 1) If you are someone who needs a boyfriend or girlfriend at your side at all times or their constant attention and affection, a military spouse life is not going to be a great choice for you. Do not expect they can do that for you and do not make them feel guilty that they should. Make a different choice or find a way to become more independent. 2) If you do not want to spend prom, birthdays, wedding anniversaries, babies births and holidays without your significant other or future spouse do not date someone in the military. This is a given in the military and other professions like medical, fire and law enforcement. Make plans for how you will celebrate holidays without them and enjoy them. 3) If you are someone who needs to live close to your family, do not date or marry someone in the military. You will move a lot, potentially in far flung places around the world. Do not expect anything otherwise. Do not pretend this is not real. Do not be dramatic or unhappy when this happens. 4) If you are not supportive or interested in the military as a family life choice do not date or marry someone who loves their career in the military. Do not anticipate that you will get them to leave it and do something else. 5) If you have a very defined career path that requires a specific location & number of years spent in one place a military partnership will make that very difficult. Choose a career that is easily portable. If you want a big career that demands you live in a particular area, or long years in one place, don't date people in the service. 6) If you have a lot of anxiety and worry a lot, being a military spouse may not be something you are built for. Your choices are find every way possible to strengthen yourself and survive or choose a less stressful life for yourself. A military spouse works with uncertainty and danger every day. If that isn't something you handle well it will add a lot of stress to a service member's life, which isn't fair to them. 7) You need to understand that when men have been eating dirt, crawling on their stomachs under barbed wire, on a ship, or dusty, remote camp, sleeping on the world's worst mattress (if they even have one) they are going to be ornery. And sorry to say it, but some of that is going to blow back on you because they can't vent it anywhere else. You cannot take this personally. This will be one of the biggest challenges to your relationship because it's eventually going to get you hot under the collar and sick and tired of hearing it and then you're going to lose it a little and there's going to be a fight. The fewer times you can let it get that far, the better. (Not that I know anything about this, I've just heard....wink). Read more about military couple deployment arguments here. 8) Consider that in a local or national emergency if is likely your service member will be called to serve the country or local community. They will likely not be available to take care of you. You will need to make plans and be ready to stand up and act on your own to protect yourself and your family. There is enough emergency preparedness information out that that you should be able to be ready for anything - especially things particular to your geographic location. 9) If you aren't a happy person, you won't be happy with the military. There will be lots of things to complain about and get frustrated by. Obsessing about all these things will make you, your partner and everyone around you miserable. If you can see the glass half-full, you will have a fantastic experience with a military spouse. 10) If you meet a military man, fall in love with him and are up for a great adventure you will find a lot to love about dating and potentially marrying a service member. There is a lot to enjoy and love about the adventures the military can bring to your life. If you chose, it will make you strong, courageous, brave, more outgoing and give you a network of friends around the world.

7 Reasons To Date A Military Man:
1. Â Conviction.
Nothing says sexy more than someone who is putting his life on the line to protect your freedoms and rights. Joining the military is a choice; by serving his country, you know he has strong ideals and is willing to fight for them. Â
2. He is in great physical shape.
Let's not pretend that the fact he's probably in the best shape of his life doesn't turn you on. The rigorous training he is committed to is part of his daily routine, and you get to reap the benefits of his occupation's strict physical and dietary habits. We'll salute to that.
3. Potential for love letters. Â
Since your relationship will probably be long-distance at certain points and for long periods of time, communication becomes quintessential. This means lots of emails, chats, phone conversations, and snail mail. The possibility of epic literary confessions of love is immense.Â
4. Independence and co-dependence. Â
Since he is often in unfamiliar environments, you know that he can take care of himself.  He is trained to survive hostile circumstances and protect his fellow soldiers, so he knows what it takes to work as a team. He knows how to work together for a common goal, but he can also assess a difficult situation and figure out a solution on his own. This can translate well for relationships. After all, love can be a battlefield too.
5. He takes directions well.
The military is all about structure, order and rules. If he can survive taking commands from his superiors, you know that he won't mind too much when you ask him to help you with the dishes every once in a whileâor when you start ordering him around in the bedroom.
6. He can keep his room neat.
Due to the discipline practiced in the barracks, you can count on him to pick up after himself and keep his personal affects in order. You can thank his drill sergeant for that one.Â
7. The uniform.
It's not just because the tailored cut of a uniform perfectly accentuates his physical assets. Â A uniform represents discipline, strength, courage, and fellowshipâall traits that make for great partners. We are often attracted to men in uniform because of the message it sends to us: this is a person in a position of authority who can provide us with safety and whose job is to protect us from the dangers of the world. Dating Tips for military spouses
Have a dating strategy:
Are you looking for someone with kids the same age as yours? Attending an on-base playgroup, MOPS, hanging out at a popular playground or hitting the libraryâs story time may be a good start. No kids? Try a Bunco or Spouse auxiliary group. Religiously inclined? Protestant Women of the Chapel (PWOC) or its sister Catholic Women of the Chapel (CWOC) may be the perfect start. The most important thing to remember is this: only spend time in places that will be rich with your kind of people. If you donât want to be friends with someone who doesnât share your religious or policital views, either vow to avoid those subjects entirely, or only spend time with people who do.
Donât be scary:
When you meet someone you think could be a great match itâs easy to get too excited and scare them off. Do your best to play it cool. Wait a day or two to find them on Facebook and a few days more to casually suggest a play or coffee date.
Make your first date a success:
When preparing for your first date with a new friend, think back to what you would do if you were preparing to date a guy ⊠and then do the opposite. Who wants to be friends with someone who intimidates them? Keep the make-up and outfit low-key â somewhere between sweat pants and business casual. Keep the conversation to your families and, assuming she is also military, service experiences. Ask her how she met her husband. If you need to tell her your love story, make sure to keep it short and sweet. Save any and all birth stories for much, much later.
Women also donât like people who make them feel fat, so just be yourself and, for heavenâs sake, order that coffee cake.
Identify deal breakers early:
Canât handle people who are always late? Think always having pants on your child is absolutely necessary? Need to be friends with someone who has a spotless toilet? Keep a mental list of your personal friend pet peeves and make sure you ID deal breakers early and often. Nothing hurts more than thinking youâve found The One, only to realize that your priorities are completely different.
Save the life drama for later:
Donât spend your first few dates talking about how your husband drives you crazy, problems with your unit, the stupidity of other spouses, your crazy in-laws or any other host of problems. Save that stuff for when youâre actually friends.
If youâre pregnant and itâs not yet obvious (and assuming your date is not obviously pregnant) save all maternity conversations for later as well. Your potential new friend does not want to hear about how you got pregnant, names you are considering or any other medical drama. Wait until at least the third date to tell her you are growing a new human.
If your pregnancy is obvious and the subject unavoidable, talk about it briefly and then drop the subject entirely.
Skip the other drama entirely:
Gossip, backbiting and rank wearing donât look good on anyone. Need to offload that stuff from your brain? Keep a journal. No one wants to be best friends with a hater.
Now â go and make new friends! Please share any of your personal friend dating tips below. We need all the help we can get.
