If you read please read all of it before responding!!! I do not want to clarify misunderstandings because something was missed near the end.

This post is an asexual person complaining about others sexualizing a fictional character (Alastor, Hazbin Hotel). If that feels brain rotted to you, you may move on. Could this be worded better. I think absolutely. My personal biases are influencing this greatly. But I'm just someone being passionate about their own representation. And I'm tired.

Yes a lot of asexual people still feel sexual attraction, but why does that justify ALL ace characters being shipped sexually? Can the other end of the spectrum have something as well without being harassed for "infantilizing" a character when we just want something for us, too?

I love RadioSilence, and I was an avid lover of RadioDust in pilot times. The concept of shipping Alastor is not what I dislike. What I don't like is that people justify putting him in sexual scenarios because "ace people still can, and do". Every version of asexual deserves representation. But why do I keep hearing the same drivel in favors of the "normal" end of the spectrum? There are regular ass (allo) people using this excuse to sexualize a character because apparently they can do whatever they want. And that's what gets me about this. There are NON ace people bitching about how ace people can still do whatever they want them to do. If it's an ace/aroace person giving the blessing I can get behind it, but... why are we letting people not a part of the group have a say, again?

Fandom culture can be whatever, and do whatever. People can ship rare pairs like StaticApple (Vox and Lucifer) for fun. I don't care. It can be funny. My problem is the blatant disrespect of other sexualities that don't get a lot of screentime, in favor of your favorite dynamic. It's akin to all the straight people getting mad that we made some of their faves gay. Because gay people have not, and still do not, get a lot of rep.

This topic is very similar to the discourse about the "I Saw The TV Glow" trend on tiktok. I'm also trans, and you wanna know what, I DO think that trend should just be for trans people. Just like I think that blatantly Lesbian or Gay songs should not be used by straight people cause straight people already have it all. But all I see when it comes to the trend is other queer, non trans, people being mad because we're "gatekeeping". Can't we be happy for eachother. What happened to community. We're all gay (in the umbrella term sense)!! Please, let's take into consideration the feelings of your fellow queers on topics regarding queer culture.

I'm glad this didn't happen to Lilith in The Owl House, as she's been proven AroAce (by the creator, yes). Does this goodwill not apply to the characters in the hell show? The inherent evilness of a show set in hell means that any character, even a canonically ace one, can be sexualized endlessly. Apparently so.

And I know what you may be thinking, "Asexual people still feel sexual attraction, and indulge in activities in that realm, though?" Yes. Sometimes we do, and I love that for those people. I'm happy they have not had to suffer the same curse as I. But people like me still exist. I am a sex repulsed asexual. And I'm disgusted by the prospect of someone looking at me and sexualizing me. Which is why this business with my favorite asexual character ever bothers me. One of VERY FEW actually canonical ace characters, mind you.

Im also not just biased towards this issue for ace people. I feel this way about the one canon Lesbian ship in hazbin, too. A lot of people ship Charlie with a man despite her actively being with a woman in the show and like??? Let the Lesbians have something nice, please? I'm saying this as a gay man. Lesbians get NOTHING! Just like asexual people. Don't get me wrong, I know Charlie is Bi, she even says it to Katie Killjoy in season 2 episode 4. Sir Pentious, Cherri, and Vox are all bi if y'all rlly wanna fuck around with straight passing bi ships. And absolutely leave Vaggi, THE LESBIAN, out of it unless you're respecting her actual, canonical sexuality. (Goes for Velvette too.)

Listen, I don't think we're a perfect fandom but the fact remains that if we were going to have ships for the "broadly-headcannoned aroace" character I think it's prettyyyyy fun that the most common options are:

Ship him with the genderless rock alien(s) but not ☝️ in a normal way. They are very weird by all standards.

Ship him with Markiplier some guy called Simon who somehow has even worse trauma. Again in the least normal way possible.

Some form of qpr with any/all of the above

I just remembered that Rocky and Erid is like... someone's creation. Not a real life form that someone met and took the time to study and learn. Those are made up little guys. I am horrifically distraught by this.

Wellllllll!!!!! I'm distraught about his nonexistence too, but I have answers!

1.- He needs the hot environment because that's Erid temperature, but it's actually supposed to be cooling him down! So he's warming the air and the warm escapes a little bit thru xenonite walls, so he stays cool.

2.- He can be in the ball like. Forever. He makes his own oxygen and loops his air around inside because eridians have some plant-like cells photosynthesizing in there too. Grace described him like "his own ecosystem".

3.- No. The ammonia is the same inside the Hail Mary Rocky part because he doesn't have any external gas exchange. They disconnect from the eridian ship for most of the story.
