Hi! Weâre milk+ visual, a doujin yuri visual novel studio thatâs created titles like soundless - A MODERN SALEM IN REMOTE AREA -!
Founded in 2017 by papaya and based in the United States, we make yuri titles in all sorts of genres and atmospheres. Thereâs two of usâmyself and Faust, our editor. Our mascots are Magenta Milk, a nurse fanatic who enjoys cosplaying and collecting medical equipment, and her surgeon-cosplaying girlfriend Monochrome Matrimony, a sharp object obsessor.
7388.loving(Grace) â June 2026 Monthly Progress Report
Happy June! Wow, we're well into summer now! Are you keeping cool? Do you know how to make a wind tunnel in your home? If you live well into the bottom half of Earth, please send some cold this way.
We've got really cool news this month. You may notice that the bars on two sections that normally don't move much have gone up!
Writing
There has been writing progress! (SFX)
We've been working on the outline! The current state of it is that it is complete in broad form, with the major events for each route's day lined out. We've also written up a list of possible bad endings. The next thing to do is work on the finer details of the days before moving on to actually writing scenes. A method we've started using is putting concepts that need more research work to be done in [brackets]; this is what has pushed the outline to the state it is in now. Previously, we had been planning research days, but with the main subject (generative AI) being so broad and constantly evolving, things needed to change to prevent the plot from getting lost. This should help maintain focus and funnel what needs to be studied into more specific silos, which will also make any library visits a lot easier since we'll know what we're looking for.
Related to the outline is equally as exciting news, and that is in the category of...
Programming
7388 is still a fairly linear experience, but we have been prototyping various ways in which information can be shared to add to the experience of the game. We want a mysterious, atmospheric experience, and so with that I'd like to introduce what we've been playing with to make that experience ludonarratively consistent.
"Prompt"* Choice System
Implied by the summary we revealed when we announced 7388's return to development, the choice system in this gameâthe player's primary way of reaching endingsâis entirely made up of what the protagonist inputs into Rhode to have it "generate" phrases to speak with Merope. To keep the scope within a reasonable range, not every instance of phrase generation is done by the player (the protagonist has a degree of autonomy), but expect prompts with major impacts to require the player's choice.
*The player is not actually prompting an LLM with this system; they pick prewritten choices using a standard visual novel choice system. All results are manually created by a human in a fixed narrative.
Point-and-Click Investigation
This exactly what it says on the tin: a very barebones point-and-click system that allows the player to learn more about the world around them. It's not sophisticated enough to have an inventory or use actionsâwe'd just like to give players the option to decide how certain segments flow. We're working on where we'd like for this mechanic to pop up. It's liable to be taken out if we feel it impedes the story or turns out to be fundamentally uninteresting.
Inline Glossary
The final mechanic we've been playing with is an inline glossary. This is, essentially, a glossary where the player can read more information about a concept right within the game rather than having to visit another menu by clicking on highlighted words in the text. As 7388 has a strong focus on the sociological impacts of the information age, we felt that a glossary system that's a little more in-your-face is a good way to recreate that feeling of being bombarded with knowledge.
We didn't come up with this on our own; this is heavily inspired by Saihate no Ima, which uses such a system to similar ends. We're ironing out the kinks on how this will be presented (as much as we'd like to use Ima's layered remove-player-from-narrative-to-visit-higher-context blog system because papaya thinks it's soooo cool, we acknowledge that this probably won't work for our own purposes), but we're really excited to play around with this and see how far we can go with it.
Something we'd like to do in the near future is give all $5+ Patrons access to a prototype that utilizes all of these for the purposes of collecting feedback. Up until now, all of our games have been kinetic novels, and while papaya has gained some experience with designing complex branching paths and SLGs with map movement through private projects, this is a pretty ambitious step we're taking. We'll let everyone know when the prototype is available, so if you're strapped for cash right now, feel free to just wait for the announcement rather than subscribing right away so you can drop the money then to check it out!
Artwork + Misc
And of course, we've been diligently plugging away at the artwork. Yulia's latest sprite stream happened earlier in May for Patrons, and now she's well over halfway done. Aside from that, we made a slight change to how we render human eyes, which has gone a long way in adding beauty and depth to our characters...also, we fixed Diana's shoulder!
The latest public key artwork stream also happened in May. I, papaya, would like to formally apologize about how it was pretty much just me drawing a bunch of lines to make datacenter towers. My hand hurt so bad at the end of that. This is why we keep trying to learn Blender beyond morphing basic shapes and creating arrays. I'm sure it looks cool sped up though.
That took me a whole hour to write. I don't think we've ever had this much information to share before! Very exciting. See you next month!

i just want to say thank you for creating soundless. it changed me (for better or worse) and i really loved how everyone there feels like a Person. the use of manipulative abuse and what seems like and what isn't is such a fascinating dichotomy to me, everyone there has their own reasons for doing what they do, and yet it's hard to place blame on any singular person due to collectively what they do. i think it's fascinating to me
i don't like responding to these with Brand voice, thank you so much for your kind comments. i'm glad you loved it. i think it's important to write abuse stories that are a lot more multifaceted because the reality is that it can be a lot harder to figure it out and break it when it's pretty much built into your societal structure. where do you go when it's all you've ever known? i think a particular character's complaints about how she was just copying the world around her to survive & yet she's treated as a root cause and not a symptom summarizes what i wanted to do perfectly. in a way she's kind of speaking for everyone.
The next public progress stream is coming up in about an hour! Join us as we continue working on the key artwork for our sci-fi title 7388.loving(Grace)!

7388.loving(Grace) â May 2026 Monthly Progress Report
Hello, everyone! This month was a little stressful, so I spent a chunk of my time blowing off steam instead of forcing myself to work too much. It doesn't make for a very lengthy progress report, but it's better to not try and make a game on fumes. Regardless, things still happened!
Art
One of Diana's sprites is now fully rendered! Her second pose is also on its way to being fully rendered. $5+ Patrons got to enjoy watching this happen live, and you can too if you purchase access to the VOD or subscribe! Advertisement end.
Diana and Yulia's sprites have been a real treat to work on; it's not every day I get to create sprites that have light sources different from the typical direction you see in visual novels. The decision to make them backlit was partly inspired by the sprites in Sakura no Mori â Dreamers, which also feature sprites with an unorthodox light source. I felt it was suitable for the context in which they appear: vlogs where the two girls are facing Rhode, the light flooding in from an open garage door behind them.
The key art was also worked on! If you've been keeping up with the public streams, this is a very big piece. Merope and Rhode's base colors were finished on the day this was written up. There's a mix of both complicated machinery and elaborate nature in the piece. It's very ambitious, and I believe I can pull it off, but it will definitely be a bit of a pain along the way.
This concludes this month's report! I would like to draw more, it's very relaxing.

7388.loving(Grace) â April 2026 Monthly Progress Report
This time this one is late (for Patrons) because I was getting off and on sick. The body is too fragile and is trying to contain me, but obviously it couldnât do much because look at all that progress! Letâs just jump right into it!
Art
Diana and Yuliaâs sprites are coming along wonderfully, of which most of the recent progress was seen in this premium 4-hour stream! Since the vlogs take place during particular times of day in the same exact place, the light source is more specific. We wanted to give the sprites a dreamlike feel, and we felt that lighting from behind achieved that look very nicely.
And while this is a part of the âmiscellaneousâ section on paper, the main key art is also coming along! We had a public stream for this one that showcased me struggling to understand the perspective ruler in Clip Studio as well as the Low Poly Farmer Man. This man was instrumental in ensuring Merope was in the right spot for the 3D reference image we created just for this piece:
Check out those data center towers. It was kind of a pain creating them, but once you make one all you have to do is use the array modifier in Blender.
Miscellaneous
Yet another premium stream came with our first try at doing a user interface creation stream! Weâve started the mockup process. The color palette is still a bit of a WIP, but the general idea that weâre going for is âLinuxâ. Initially we considered making it resemble more of a minimalistic terminal, but ended up choosing more of a modern user interface. Itâs still rather minimalistic, just not to the extent that was originally planned.
Is That The Programming Section
Yes it is. This section just means âI made the RenâPy projectâ, which is actually very important all things considered.
Iâm happy to have given a more comprehensive monthly progress report after the lack of the previous two! Please look forward to what May has in store!

7388.loving(Grace) â January 2026 Monthly Progress Report
Sorry this one is late! I've been trying to juggle way too many things like a circus performer. In exchange for the lateness, here's an exciting bit of newsâŚ
Art
Merope's sprites are now VIRTUALLY COMPLETE!
The image above is not the final final version of her sprites; she needs tweaks, and she also needs all of her expressions created. However, this is still a tremendous piece of progress now complete!
Diana and Yulia would also have much to show, but unfortunately, the Patron-only 4 hour combination stream was cut short by an emergency. This stream will soon be rescheduled for this month.
Our 2026 New Year's post further details what we plan on doing this year. Aside from that, this ends this month's post. We're excited to see what this new year brings!
Remember: if you want to get these progress reports early, please subscribe to the Patreon or Subscribestar for as little as $2 a month! You can also get them sent directly to your email when they're publicly available by subscribing to our newsletter.
Our Patreon piece this month features a piece drawn by Kappy for our upcoming sci-fi yuri visual novel, 7388.loving(Grace)! In this mysterious piece, behind Merope lies humanity's sunsetâand the remains of the lives of two girls from 100 years ago.
