The transatlantic animation dup have hooked up with the Swedish retailer for a series of cheeky and cheerful short clips.
I love these fun illustrative animations

“This redesign / rebranding is based on the target group’s lack of overview of Union Squares opportunities, offers and businesses. Solved with an optimization of their information dissemination, through a new infographic visual identity.”
Thorbjørn Gudnason, born in 1990. Currently studying Graphic Communication (BA) at School of Visual Communication, in Denmark. I like to translate values into strong visual concepts that communicate and support the clients strategic goals. In my belief successful design consist of an interesting idea which is visually exciting and well executed.

I went to a really inspiring guest lecture by illustrator Nick White, I thoroughly enjoyed learning about him and his work. I think the exhibition for dogs that he worked on with Dominic Wilcox sounded very interesting and was probably one of my favourite of his projects. I additionally love the work he did for the Tate Modern, the kids book on Alberto Giacometti was really clever and his illustrations seem almost effortless! One of the questions he answered in the lecture was “Were do you get your crazy ideas from” I found very inspiring, some of which I want to try myself to help influence my own work. Nick said he makes mini books for his 2 hour commutes, I loved this idea as I spend a lot of time commuting myself on trains, tubes, coaches and every journey is different. I’ll definitely be using this to help me with my work, especially when I get a mental block! He also advised us to hold on to any scraps from previous work, magazines etc which I found very useful and I feel more inclined to do some more spontaneous work after this tip! After the lecture I’ve looked at Ben Newman’s work a bit more too, Nick’s best friend... another amazing designer/illustrator. The final thing he told us which I think was very important was to never send a rough that you aren’t happy with, as a student trying to keep to tight deadlines it’s so easy just to send in work that’s half hearted but to become a successful designer like Nick it’s imperative to strive for the best and be a bit of a perfectionist!
Forgetfulness is a terrible thing, isnt it? One minute you’re bright, alert and ready to make a start on...on...oh God, nope, it’s gone. No idea. Oh right, yeah, yeah, that was it: we were going to tell you about a new font that could come in really handy.

Emma Allegretti
Out of all of the artists Gucci commissioned for this launch Emma Allegretti is definitely my favourite! I love how she uses lots of different bright and rich colours. Her illustrations I feel also have a slight feminist approach, which in today's society is a very up and coming topic! So I feel for the launch of a new fragrance this set of work is brilliant! Although they may look simplistic, the attention to detail in each illustration I find fascinating and has inspired me to do some of my own similar illustrations on adobe sketch.
Joana Avillez
I absolutely love these little elegant illustrations, they’re simple but effective and certainly made me smile! There’s a very strong link to fashion which is why I also love them! The accompanying text makes them more personal and adds a fun side, for a brand like Gucci this could be revolutionary as for some it may seem like too much of a ‘prestigious’ and ‘expensive’ brand; these set of illustrations help it to become more approachable.
Phoebe Collings-James
I really like these illustrations as they convey a story through each one. I also love how she uses different verbs within the illustration to convey different senses, clever for a new fragrance launch as perfume has a lot to do with the senses.
Gucci Collaborates With 15 Female Artists to Launch Its New Fragrance
I love the fact that Gucci has collaborated with different female artists to create interpretations for the brands newest fragrance. The illustrations aim to evoke youth and coming of age, female friendships, and self discovery. Langley Fox Hemingway, Frances Cannon, Emma Allegretti, Joy Miessi, Joana Avillez, and Fee Greening are some of the participating artists and this will be Gucci’s first major instagram focused beauty campaign. Some of my favourite of these illustrations will be in the next few posts...
After I visited the ‘Making herself up’ exhibition I was inspired and wanted to try out some illustration. I recently bought an ipad pro and apple pencil to aid my growing passion for illustration and help me with my uni work.
On first glance, you could assume that the illustration work of Tatjana Prenzel is relatively traditional. It’s drawing as we all know it, using a pencil to shade and elevate the expressions of her characters. But what Tatjana does differently is bring her illustrations to life, and not through the traditional route of animation, but sculpture.

Over the summer I was lucky enough to go and see the Frida Kahlo exhibition at the Victoria and Albert museum - ‘Making herself up’. I wanted to include this in my blog as Frida Kahlo is an artist that has inspired me throughout GCSE and A levels and I still continue to look at her work to influence my own. Although Kahlo’s work isn’t really graphics related, her history and how she became an iconic artist encouraged me to push myself to illustrate, design and experiment!
