Milwaukee Road freight train on its way toward Chicago, passing under the viaduct that carried passenger trains on the Mundelein Branch of the North Shore Line. The North Shore Line ceased operations less than a year after this photo was taken. Today, the steel viaduct has been replaced by a pedestrian/bicycle bridge. The rails beneath still carry freight trains of the Canadian Pacific and Wisconsin & Southern, along with Amtrak and Metra passenger trains.
