Self aware x reader au but reader acts like Josh from let’s game it out (please check him out I beg). Horror of self awareness aside think about the crack potential. Can’t decide if reader should be perceived as a disembodied voice or their in game avatar (tho ig that depends on the game) but either way as soon as the characters sense reader’s presence it’s instant dread. It’s even funnier if you consider the idea that the characters aren’t even fully aware yet.
If we’re talking about Roblox admin or hackers, just imagine someone like Builderman or 1x watching as reader breaks the game in ways never before conceived and questioning if they should do something about it. I mean it’s not like they are using exploits, hacking, or breaking any rules, they’re just doing things that the devs never thought someone would do, if anything it could be considered free game testing.
Or alternatively self aware characters watching all the players scream bloody murder after a hacker or someone with admin commands (not necessarily reader) turned everyone into gubbies.
Two characters from asymmetrical games that are heavily inspired by iconic slashers that are given their own lore entirely separate from the slashers their inspired by because of copyright.
Okay so I have had a theory scratching at my brain for a hot minute that I REALLY wanna put out there because I personally find it really cool as someone who both plays Forsaken and Dead by Daylight. And thinks way too hard about tiny details that probably don’t actually matter that much-
We all know that Forsaken and various other games like it take inspiration from Dead by Daylight for their gameplay (I believe it might be the original, or at least the one that got popular, but if I’m wrong please correct me-) but I want to talk about something related to some of the character designs that I personally find very interesting.
In DBD, there is something called the White Eyes theory. The idea is that any character with fully white eyes is somehow being manipulated by The Entity in that game into not fully perceiving the reality in front of them how it really is. For example:
Deathslinger, one of the DBD killers, is one of the group that has white eyes. In his lore, if I remember right, he was a bounty hunter looking for revenge against those who did him and his family wrong. He didn’t go after just anyone unlike many of the other killers in that game. According to the white eyes theory, with evidence in his VERY long story description, he perceives the survivors as “silhouettes of all who did him wrong”. The Entity spurs on this hunt for blood that he likely would not have had otherwise, at least not to the survivors trapped in its realm.
Now what does this have to do with Forsaken? Well. We all know about our lovable Coolkid! How he doesn’t quite see the rounds as him killing, just playing a game of tag and putting them to sleep out of exhaustion? WELL TAKE A LOOK AT MILESTONE 4 MAH DUDE

I’m well aware that this is not concrete evidence for this theory applying to the forsaken cast (milestones 1-3 don’t have the while eyes and Pr3ttyprincess doesn’t have them though she doesn’t seem to see the reality either) but that doesn’t mean it CANT right?
MAJOR STRETCH WARNING HERE- but adding onto the pile, Two Time MIGHT also apply, but this is where I start REALLY stretching into my thumbtack board and foil hat- They were given their second life by the Spectre to drive them further into their undying faith. It would also count as an illusion to drive them further down the path they were already on after Asure’s sacrifice. And what do we see when they’re on their second life?
Again. White. Freaking. Eyes.
Now this might be for a number of other reasons too, the other survivors also get white in their eyes when they die or are on very low health in some cases. This theory admittedly has a lot of holes in it- but I’m just tying my own funny little connection between these two games that I like to think about sometimes.
