i’ve been off from tumblr for like 5 months, a whole year from posting any fanart of ML. and i have to say, i would like to start drawing and sketching more fanarts of ML in general. i’m super excited for season 4 and how it’s going to unfold in the overall story, i hope i’ll be able to just start drawing my bay marinette without needing to worry about completing the drawing or anything like that. (also i almost cried at ep3 season 4 QAQ)

i watched ML new york (spoilers ahead) and my thoughts overall on what i think of ML in general

omfg it’s so good ;-;

if there’s any stuff im unsure abt it’s prob that adrien has a more-than-normal relationship with kagami (the kiss at the nose scene???) then he danced with marinette with such romantic gestures. idk seems to be something that dense adrien would do but i feel like it’s a bit...??? i can’t describe it im confused

everything else was so good, the fact that there’s a second guardian makes me a bit conflicted cuz i feel like there’s gonna be a 2nd part when the ladybug x chatnoir duo is over is that there’s gonna be a new group but im also excited cuz it feels like they’re gonna have a part of maybe season 4-5 maybe there will be season 6. (i want ML to have like 10 season i love them so much, i wanna see them until they’re like adults QAQ)

when i watched it i giggled so much with extreme fangirling, i was so happy seeing the 2 protags again and i hope season 4 will be good. meanwhile while im sad that there won’t ever be a time where we’ll see them be adults, hopefully we’ll see them until they’re college students! meanwhile i’ll bury myself with fanfics :9

so apparently miraculous ladybug has a new york special episode, and i didn’t know that. i came to look at tumblr and wonder why have i never seen some of these edits before, apparently cuz i was so dum dum there’s a new release of miraculous ladybug. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. i wanna kill myself so bad, i miss ML so bad ya’ll. well my account is kinda dead so who th would tell me if ML has released anything ;-;

It confirmed Adrien’s latent feelings for Marinette.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say he was hoping Ladybug was Marinette - but he was very clearly thrilled at this outcome.

This exchange could have gone in the reverse direction:

Plagg: Ladybug is Ladybug and Marinette is -

Adrien: Ladybug.

I think the writers deliberately had Adrien say Marinette’s name all dreamy-like and not Ladybug’s. He says it like all his dreams are coming true, like Marinette is the most perfect girl in his eyes.

This line is so important. There’s too much specificity in what he’s saying for it to just be a plausible explanation for his sudden advances. Adrien is admitting what he’s been trying to ignore: his non-platonic feelings for Marinette. He was pushing them away because they confused him and he had his heart set on Ladybug. But now his attraction to Marinette makes sense, because she’s the same girl he fell in love with. Bye-bye, denial!

There have been numerous metas on why Adrien canonically likes Marinette and is in denial about it, so I won’t get into all that evidence here.

So Adrien didn’t go after her because she’s Ladybug. He did because, in his own words, “Marinette and Ladybug are the same person!” There’s a subtle but powerful difference.
