• The name “illagers” is a rough translation of what villagers started calling them a long, long time ago, back when they still lived in the villages.
• Nobody knew why some of the villager kids would grow up like that. In early childhood, nothing seemed out of ordinary - but as soon as they began to mature, they’d gradually change in an unusual way.
• Their skin would become flaky, as if sunburnt, gradually revealing grey underneath. Their brows and facial structure wouldn’t quite look the same as other villagers either.
• There were many theories as to what caused this, from Herobrine to poisoned crops, but most had one thing in common - insisting those afflicted with this strange “illness” were to be feared or avoided at best for one reason or another.
• And so they were banished, all of them. Unable to return to the villages, they came together as a separate community and built the towers we now know as outposts.
• Nowadays there exist far more illagers who were already born as an illager in an outpost than those who came there after being banished. The distinction doesn’t matter much to them, but it’s still a topic they don’t like to talk about.
• It’s not exactly taboo, but there’s an unspoken agreement between all of them to try not to reminisce about their childhood in the village, if they had one.
• Illager dialect came to be from a clash of various biome dialects. Over time, they developed an illager-specific accent different from any of the ones existing before.
• Illagers reject village taboos, so they know more about forbidden topics such as the End and Nether than villagers.
• Their view of Herobrine varies slightly depending on what biome they’re from, but all of them believe him to be a watchful protector, like some sort of patron saint of illagers.
• There is a variety of myths surrounding ravagers. Some believe they are just as intelligent and self-aware as illagers and talk to them like they would to a friend.
• Some even hold a belief that ravagers are villagers turned into beasts by a curse or some kind of divine retribution.
• It’s perfectly acceptable to get to and down from the higher floors (or even roof) of an outpost by climbing. The other illagers won’t judge you, they’ll just be like “yooo look at them go”
• Illusioners often make a little show with their spells for the other illagers to watch in their leisure time.
