Zombie Pigmen; the most populating denizens of the entire Nether, but yet, just where did they come from? Well in truth, there are many origins stories to the Zombie Pigmen, Some based upon Notchanity, and some based on science.
Let’s start with the religious Notchanity version first. Long ago it is said that the great almighty Notch struck a female pig with lightning, and upon it being hit, it transformed into what would become the very first female Pigman
This creature walked on two legs rather ten its fours, and had its intellect boosted above those of her non-elevated brothers and sisters. Still speaking the language of her brother and sisters, she united pigs into a massive herd, and led them downwards into the depths of The Nether. This first Pigman, became The Messiah, but also The Destroyer of all pig kind, as when they had finally made it to safety within The Nether, food was low, and many began to starve. However due to the properties of The Nether, slowly the dead became infected, and slowly rose from the graves as Zombie Pigs.
As more and more time went on, the Zombie Pigs began to outnumber the normal pigs, and eventually, even the great Messiah fell to starvation. But she too rose from the dead, and thus, the first Zombie Pigman was born. It is then believed that eventually, Notch attempted to once again “elevate” a pig to a Pigman, and he too made the mistake of his predecessor, and attempted to settle The Nether, only to meet the same fate. And thus, the first two Pigmen were born.
Jebanites oppose this idea, and rather divert to the scientific story of the origins of the Zombie Pigmen.
The scientific story says that long ago, a massive pitfall opened in the surface of Minecraftia, killing many pigs that fell in, but leaving many others to survive. Those that survived hid from The Ghasts of the dimension, and did all in their power to survive with what little they could do, eventually borrowing in a small cave system. It is from that cave, that over millions of years of eating Nether Wart; a magical substance, that the Pigs of The Nether became Pigmen. However, food was always scarce in The Nether, forcing them to continue to eat Nether Wart, and as well as Mushrooms. Scientists believe that by consuming enough mushrooms, eventually it is believed that the mushrooms began to attempt to take over their bodies. This led to a conflict between surviving Pigmen, and Mushroom Pigmen.
(What many once thought to be blood, was actually Red Mushroom properties taking over a Pigman, hence why they no longer exist.)
By the end of the “Mushroom War”, the few surviving Pigmen had changed completely, using the power of Nether Warts to change their own physical properties, and become Undead; Zombie Pigmen. And it is from this point that the Zombie Pigmen came to be, and continued to advance, learning the ability to use golden swords within The Mushroom War
The Effects of “The Mushroom War”, can be proven in the very nature of Zombie Pigmen. While they tend to be very neutral creatures like their non-elevated brothers and sisters, Zombie Pigmen if provoked, will swarm their attacker and defend themselves. Leading to a very strong connection between different Zombie Pigmen, causing them to stick close together in high numbers. However, this has also caused a slowing down of their entire species, as few dare wonder off from the safety of their family and friends.
Eventually, Ghasts began to accept the Zombie Pigmen as fellow Denizens of The Nether, and the two races began to exist in peace, a major survival milestone for the Zombie Pigmen that allowed them to thrive in The Nether. Population boomed, and slowly but surely, Zombie Pigmen became the primary sentient race of The Nether, similar to the Steve race from the Overworld.
Despite the intrusion of the Steve race, the Zombie Pigmen still tend to be neutral toward them, and prefer to go about their own business, but NEVER think that the Zombie Pigmen horde will not attack you just because you are powerful in your own rite.
