it's interesting ig that larissa is not super active with her hands when she speaks. it's a great indicator of how overall physically controlled she is. you can feel her "putting on" a given gesture like, for example, the parent's weekend speech scene:

Rendra (no last name) met Hester in college. They had sex one (1) time and Hester got pregnant with Morticia. Being traditional and holding Catholic beliefs, he wanted to "make things right" so he proposed to Hester. They were not intimate but amicable and tolerated each other for 10 years, during which Rendra's family back in Indonesia continued to pressure him to come back home and "repent"-- which he finally gave in after Hester had an affair and got pregnant with Ophelia. He doesn't think of this as "leaving his family" but instead answering a higher calling and "doing important work". Rendra considers his psychic abilities a gift from God™ and utilizes them for his exorcisms. (He also often chastises Hester for messing with the occult, even though it is part of a psychic's culture)

Last time Morticia saw her father after he left when she was 13 was during her wedding with Gomez. After which he left again and Hester presumed him dead until he suddenly came back to the USA 30 years later acting like nothing happened.

Loraine was a surgeon only because her parents were both doctors, she took the opportunity to retire immediately after marrying Merrick and started her true passion for equestrianism. Unfortunately she loves her horses more than her own daughter, Larissa, who was basically raised by nannies instead. Loraine and Merrick's marriage wasn't of love but they do like each other.

Merrick Weems is a well-known architect in the UK and is the in-universe equivalent of Norman Foster. He owns an architecture firm called MW Architects. Merrick was somewhat close to Larissa during her childhood, but as soon as he realized Larissa did not show interest in being an architect he effectively lost interest in his own child.

Larissa does not tell her parents anything (mostly because they have no interest in knowing anyway, especially about "outcast things") and they don't know that she's only attracted to women, which created a further rift in the already giant chasm of their family relationship when Larissa refuses every man they try to set her up with.
