You hear a gasp, and if you managed to look up, you'd see her rush to your side, and kneel next to you with an expression of shock and worry.
"Hello..?"
There is a slight tremble of fear in her voice.
"Can you hear me? Are you okay?"

*It flinches away from her, wide eyes darting towards the source of the voice and seeing-*
*It's her.*
*It knew there were other versions of her working here, but to see her in person..*
*No, focus- it doesn't have the luxury of getting lost in memories and emotions right now- it takes a breath and forces a weak smile.*
Yep, I'm perfectly fine- no need to worry..
She looks at you a long moment, recognition settling into her eyes.
"No, no you aren't fine."
She takes a deep breath, trying to steady her breathing.
"You look like you hit your head pretty bad.."
"And there's blood everywhere.."
A queasiness has settled into her voice, beneath the care and worry.
*It looks down. Oh. Yeah, that's blood. That's probably not a good sign.*
*Even so, it pushes itself up into a sitting position, fighting against the pain lighting up its body as it does so. It presses its back into the counter behind it.*
Well, I'll be fine soon enough- I just.. need a second. That's all.
She shakes her head.
"No, no you need medical attention."
"I'll... You stay right here."
She stands up, and takes a few steps away. You can hear her rifling through something just out of view, and then sigh in disappointment, closing whatever it was.
The Princess returns a moment later, with a roll of paper towels.
"The first aid kit is out of bandages, again, but I got paper towels so.."
"Hopefully they'll help with the bleeding, even just a little."

*It pulls away the ice pack, now drenched in blood, and holds out a hand for the paper towels.*
"No, no, let me do it."
The Princess shuffles closer, unrolling many paper towels, and getting to work.
She gently props you up a bit more, and begins to carefully wrap the towels around your head, using her free hand to move it when necessary.
Finally, she ties it secure with a ribbon from her dress, making a little bow.
*Except none of that gets to happen, because as soon as her hand gets close to its head, it jerks away, eyes wide.*
I promise it's fine, I can do it myself-
*It's shaking.*
"Hey, hey, it's okay, it's okay."
"I'll.. let you do it, but be very careful. I don't want you hurting yourself anymore."
She tries to give you a reassuring smile, but it mostly comes off as nervous. The golden blade around her neck glints in the light.
*It's pathetic. All she wanted to do was help with its injury, and it couldn't even handle that-*
Thank you, I'll be careful-
*It neatly folds up a thick square of towels, then rips off a longer, unfolded stretch of towel as well. It put the square on its injury and the long sheet on top of that, then tries to tie the towel around its head to hold the thicker clump in place. However, the clump keeps trying to slide out of place, and towels aren't exactly the easiest to tie. On top of all of that, its hands still continue to shake. Still, it keeps trying, until it finally slumps in defeat.*
Could you help me tie this in place..?
The Princess watches anxiously as you bandage yourself, fidgeting with her hands.
She seems to snap back into presence when you voice your request, and she fumbles for a moment before responding.
"Yes, yes of course."
She takes down her hair, and uses the ribbon from that to secure the paper towels, tying a bow out of habit.

"Oh- um- do you like the bow?"
"I didn't exactly think about the knot.."

She gives you a smile, one that seems more genuine than those she's done before.
"I'm glad.. you look nice with it."
"Well.. besides the paper towels. I'm really sorry I couldn't find any real bandages.."

Oh, and don't worry about the paper towels- with the amount of injuries that happen in this place, its no wonder we keep running out of bandages- and besides, these seem to be holding up just fine-
"Oh gosh.. is it really that bad here..?"

"But pretending like it is, when it isn't, only hurts you more, in the end."

*But what if it doesn't know what it is and isn't content with..? What if, when it looks for what it really feels, all it finds is a gaping hole in its chest-*
*It's shocked back to the present as a sob tears through its body. In an instant, its hand is over its mouth in an attempt to hold back any other pathetic sounds- what is it doing, it's supposed to be better than this-*
"Hey, hey. It's okay to let it out."
She softly places a hand on your shoulder, gently running her thumb through your feathers.
*The first sob is soon followed by another at her touch.*
*It doesn't deserve this, it doesn't deserve Her-*
*Not after what happened last time.*
*Not when it knows it'll only happen again.*
She leans against the counter next to you, keeping her hand on your shoulder.
"You'll feel better after crying for a bit.. just let it out."
"It's safe here."
*But it shouldn't cry, it shouldn't show weakness, nowhere is safe and everything is a threat and its just so, so tired...*
*The sobs keep coming, whether it wants them to or not. Slowly, its weight starts to lean on her side.*
*Pathetic.*
She continues to gently comfort you with her touch, looking at you with a soft and patient smile.
"Take your time."
*Slowly, the tears start to dry, and yet it doesn't feel any less pathetic than before. It pulls itself away from her, forcing a smile with what little energy it has left.*

She sighs, giving you a look that, despite its soft sadness, seems to melt through your facade.
"I won't tell you how to live your life. I can't say I.. know what you've been through, or that I can tell exactly how you feel."
"But I can tell you what I do know. That I've been on a similar path. Don't let keeping up appearances ruin your life."
"Try to live for yourself, okay? Don't spend your forever trying to fit under other people's shadows. You'll never feel fulfilled like that."
*Its smile wavers, but it doesn't fall. Still, a hint of despair slips through the cracks in its mask.*
*If only it knew how to do that...*

She stands up, and offers you a hand, smiling softly.
*It hesitates for just a second before taking her hand and getting- wait shit its legs-*
*With a yelp, it looses its balance and falls into the princess.*
She squeaks, and falls backwards with a thud.
"ow.."
*It quickly scrambles off of her.*

"It's okay! ..Are you okay?"
Yes, I'm fine- no need to worry, I'm just a bit unstable right now, that's all-

She leans against the counter next to you, keeping her hand on your shoulder.
"You'll feel better after crying for a bit.. just let it out."

*But it shouldn't cry, it shouldn't show weakness, nowhere is safe and everything is a threat and its just so, so tired...*
*The sobs keep coming, whether it wants them to or not. Slowly, its weight starts to lean on her side.*

She continues to gently comfort you with her touch, looking at you with a soft and patient smile.
"Take your time."

"Can you hear me? Are you okay?"

She takes a deep breath, trying to steady her breathing.
"You look like you hit your head pretty bad.."
"And there's blood everywhere.."
A queasiness has settled into her voice, beneath the care and worry.
*It looks down. Oh. Yeah, that's blood. That's probably not a good sign.*
*Even so, it pushes itself up into a sitting position, fighting against the pain lighting up its body as it does so. It presses its back into the counter behind it.*

"No, no you need medical attention."
"I'll... You stay right here."
She stands up, and takes a few steps away. You can hear her rifling through something just out of view, and then sigh in disappointment, closing whatever it was.
The Princess returns a moment later, with a roll of paper towels.
"The first aid kit is out of bandages, again, but I got paper towels so.."
"Hopefully they'll help with the bleeding, even just a little."

She gently props you up a bit more, and begins to carefully wrap the towels around your head, using her free hand to move it when necessary.
Finally, she ties it secure with a ribbon from her dress, making a little bow.
*Except none of that gets to happen, because as soon as her hand gets close to its head, it jerks away, eyes wide.*

However, the clump keeps trying to slide out of place, and towels aren't exactly the easiest to tie. On top of all of that, its hands still continue to shake. Still, it keeps trying, until it finally slumps in defeat.*

The Princess shuffles closer, unrolling many paper towels, and getting to work.
She gently props you up a bit more, and begins to carefully wrap the towels around your head, using her free hand to move it when necessary.
Finally, she ties it secure with a ribbon from her dress, making a little bow.
*Except none of that gets to happen, because as soon as her hand gets close to its head, it jerks away, eyes wide.*
I promise it's fine, I can do it myself-

"Hey, hey, it's okay, it's okay."
"I'll.. let you do it, but be very careful. I don't want you hurting yourself anymore."
She tries to give you a reassuring smile, but it mostly comes off as nervous. The golden blade around her neck glints in the light.
*It's pathetic. All she wanted to do was help with its injury, and it couldn't even handle that-*

*It neatly folds up a thick square of towels, then rips off a longer, unfolded stretch of towel as well. It put the square on its injury and the long sheet on top of that, then tries to tie the towel around its head to hold the thicker clump in place. However, the clump keeps trying to slide out of place, and towels aren't exactly the easiest to tie. On top of all of that, its hands still continue to shake. Still, it keeps trying, until it finally slumps in defeat.*
Could you help me tie this in place..?
The Princess watches anxiously as you bandage yourself, fidgeting with her hands.
She seems to snap back into presence when you voice your request, and she fumbles for a moment before responding.
"Yes, yes of course."
She takes down her hair, and uses the ribbon from that to secure the paper towels, tying a bow out of habit.
You hear a gasp, and if you managed to look up, you'd see her rush to your side, and kneel next to you with an expression of shock and worry.
"Hello..?"
There is a slight tremble of fear in her voice.
"Can you hear me? Are you okay?"

She takes a deep breath, trying to steady her breathing.
"You look like you hit your head pretty bad.."
"And there's blood everywhere.."
A queasiness has settled into her voice, beneath the care and worry.
*It looks down. Oh. Yeah, that's blood. That's probably not a good sign.*
*Even so, it pushes itself up into a sitting position, fighting against the pain lighting up its body as it does so. It presses its back into the counter behind it.*
Well, I'll be fine soon enough- I just.. need a second. That's all.
She shakes her head.
"No, no you need medical attention."
"I'll... You stay right here."
She stands up, and takes a few steps away. You can hear her rifling through something just out of view, and then sigh in disappointment, closing whatever it was.
The Princess returns a moment later, with a roll of paper towels.
"The first aid kit is out of bandages, again, but I got paper towels so.."
"Hopefully they'll help with the bleeding, even just a little."
