Are we going to talk about the fact that Nine9 got Jonghyun’s suicide letter almost 10 days in advance? Are we going to talk about the fact that not even her company knew what to do, so they just told his parents, who just acknowledged his suffering but left him alone long enough to get an apartment specifically to kill himself in? Are we finally going to open a narrative, especially in Korea, of taking mental health red flags and cries for help fucking seriously? He gave them 10 FUCKING DAYS, 10 days and multiple instagram posts to save him. I sincerely believe he, up until the day he decided nobody cared enough to do so, wanted someone to save him. And when nobody did, he rented an apartment out of the way so nobody knew where he was when he sent those last texts - he was resolute that he was alone and needed to die.
If someone gives you that red flag, take it fucking seriously. Don’t let them out of your sight. Do whatever is in your power to keep them safe. You’ll be glad you did.
Rest in peace, Jonghyun.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR FINALLY SPEAKING WHAT HAS BEEN MAKING ME SO FRUSTRATED FOR SO LONG!
When I think I have come in terms with what happened with Jonghyun and finally accepted everything, this huge frustration and sense of incapacity comes over me, cuz what hapenned could have been avoided if all the signals weren't ignored by all the people around him. What if the coops arrived ealier? What if that security guard or the people on the conviniece store asked how Jonghyun was? Asked if he was okay or having a problem? What if his family sended the police right after him instead of wating almost two freaking weeks after getting the suicide letter? Korea’s mentality just dosen’t makes SENSE!
