The world does not deserve Adrien Agreste
I see this as a continuation of @chatnoirinette amazing post that left me crying because we don’t deserve this boy :’<
Can we talk about he puts his happiness aside just to put the world back together?
Adrien Agreste, the boy who found out his father is the villain that has been terrorizing Paris and abused him, his own son, fiscally and mentally. The same boy that, as we know, the only thing he wants is to have a home and to feel loved. The boy who found that in Marinette… And we all know how happy they were in that alternative timeline in which they were together! But despite that he had found a safe place where he was loved, he put that aside for the sake of the world.
Just after being freed from his Akuma, that means the last thing he remembers is how his own father threw him to the Eiffel Tower, he finds himself in front of Ladybug and he asks her what happened. But that Ladybug is from the past and she hasn’t lived what he has…
Now he is “waking up” to a Ladybug that is saying that he can’t know her identity, that she needs to fix everything so he doesn’t know her identity.
We know and Adrien knows that their relationship started when he found out that Marinette was Ladybug, when he also realized that she has always been more than a friend to him. He knows that fixing everything means that everything that they lived together never happened, he knows that it would mean being alone, what he fears the most (Weredad and Sandboy), in the jail his house is with the monster he has as a father. He is pretty conscious of this, just look at how he takes a second to assimilate everything and making his choice:
He looks so sad, my poor son :’(
He could have said something, he could have tried to stop her. But he makes his choice and puts his happiness aside for saving the world, he is just 14 years old. Here is another big difference between him and this father, Gabriel is willing to destroy everything for being with that person that makes him happy and Adrien is willing to save the world, even if that means that means not being with the one that makes him happy: the girl he loves.
But no, he doesn’t stop her. He knows the world needs to be fixed and he completely trusts that she can do it:

After everything he is putting aside for this greater good, he doesn’t even seem sad, mad or anything. He just put aside his happiness: everything he had live with Marinette, for continuing his life alone in that house with the man who calls himself his father that has abused and hurt him so badly. But he watches her go giving her this smile, encouraging her as he always does.
This is not the first time we have seen something like this. His test in origins was not just helping Master Fu, it was putting aside what he had wanted for so long (going to school, meeting people, making FRIENDS he really wants to belong and be loved my poor son) to help this old man in the street. Because he helped Master Fu, that Nathalie and Gorila were able to stop him from going to school. This test was not just about being kind, but about being selfless too.
That’s why he is carrying the miraculous of destruction, he is willing to put the world before his personal interests, he would rather destroy himself than anyone else. Even as an Akuma he couldn’t hurt Ladybug or his father, as @chatnoirinette pointed out, he directs that destruction to himself.
Adrien is willing to sacrifice his own happiness for saving the world. He would rather destroy himself than anyone else, that’s why he was chosen to have the miraculous of destruction. In conclusion…
The world does not deserve Adrien Agreste.
