Better and More

Remember the first time you heard His voice? Remember how you shiver and how your heart pounds as you feel His embrace? Remember the feeling when you knew how much He wants you to be with Him and that He’s always with you through all the way? Remember your spasm and the butterflies because of Him?

I do, and I do remember the days when those became memories.

I unconciously willingly walked step by step away from Him. I knew what happened wasn’t right, that there’s something wrong and that I had to do something but I didn’t. I let myself be full of His faithfulness and did not thought of His need of my faithfulness.

It was a matter of decision, and so I decided to go back. He welcomed me. I wonder how He could just do that to me without any rebuke or such. Like really, how? Then there goes this verse, “… for love covers a multitude of sins” from 1 Peter 1:8.

God’s love changes. It grows more and more each day even as we walk away. It grows until it covers the distance you created between the two of you, it grows until it wraps you, it grows until it pulls you back beside Him, it grows endlessly to make you stay.

He is the same God yesterday, today and forever. He is the forever faithful God whose love just grows and grows, whose grace just gets wider and wider, whose thoughts and plans just get higher and higher.

Your sins may be great but His love is so much greater.

God loves you more than He ever did before. God longs for you and wants you to be with Him again more than ever before.

In the midst of calamities, frustrations, and disappointments; when we grow tired and weary, it’s really hard to do the things we usually do when things are looking fine; when the waters are still. But when our faith is tested once again, that’s when we get to really put our trust to Him; to the one who holds the universe simultaneously with our little fragile hands. We trust in Him completely, in the mystery; in the unknown future. It’s hard, but that’s the kind of surrender that gives us peace, hope, and joy. And even when things get rough we can still sing out to God and worship Him with all our hearts. His strength will be our riser, and not even doubts and fears can hinder us to give him our highest praise.

Our faith and trust will always be tested, to make us grow – deeper, in knowing Him; higher, to match our calling. We may fail; we are imperfect and weak, and God knows it. The thing is, our hearts must learn to stand steadfast, upon pain; upon disappointments. We will still trust. We we still worship. He is our anchor. Our Emanuel.
