He continues to shoot, taking a few, but not all of the Lickers out. Leon takes a glance over his shoulder and sees that she was able to lift the rubble. Quite surprised, his brows raise, but the snarl from the nasty BOW brings him out of his thoughts. He turns back and fires once more before taking a few steps back to the other two. He grabs the girl and her companion and makes run for it.

"C’mon. I’ll cover you. But you need to run out of here as fast as you can, understood?"

She nodded, following alongside the man, not daring to look back at whatever that thing was. Once they were out and safe, then she would ask the questions that were on her mind. "Okay, just-- be careful." Even though it was clear he had some background on dealing with the creatures that were after them, she couldn't help but worry for his safety too. He was, afterall, her savior.

Surprisingly enough… he didn’t really believe that. Leon had been through his fair share of bad moods —— had been around them enough to know when someone wasn’t all that happy. Hell, he wasn’t a happy person, himself. But he dealt with it. Rolled with what life threw at him, and that’s how he was still alive.

“ Hm, ` Fine `, huh? Odd name… though, it’s nice to meet you, I’m Leon. ”

With the one of his voice teasing, the man pulled a smile, showed her a few teeth before thin lips covered them once more. He let out an exhaled groan, as he lowed himself down onto the ground. Not far from her, but not too close, either. Personal space.

She didn't respond to his teasing, merely looked over at him. She had to wonder what made him want to sit down beside her ; she did not have that sort of.. friendliness about her. At least that's what she figured out as her life progressed. People did not want to befriend a freak like her. "--my name is.. actually Jodie." Maybe a conversation was something that she needed. A conversation with another human being. Talking to herself day in and day out was surely not healthy. "-- .. why are you here, Leon?"

The question was an honest one, asked out of curiosity more than sparking any sort of ill-will between them; Jodie wasn’t asking out of judgment but out of actual interest. For that, his lips quirked up in what could be a smile if only he made his muscles work a bit more.

"You get used to it," he said. "You do what you have t’ survive."

At his answer, she gave a small nod -- what he spoke was only true. Being okay in this sort of world was a feeling that was hard to come by. You fought for your life everyday. If you did not get bitten, then there was the possibilty of starving, becoming dehydrated-- even having to watch your back with those that you are supposed to be able to trust. Trust was something Jodie had a hard time with; this world only made that harder. but this man seemed alright. From what she had seen, Luke was someone to trust. --and she would.

Annie repeated,rather confused yet curious look on her features. Her hands dropped near her swords again,just in case someone is going to jump out of the bushes and attack.

”And what did you mean with that,may i ask?”

"It's complicated," she replied nonchalantly, having no interest with indulging further into the subject. She was tired of people calling her a freak ; of them being afraid of her because of something she could not control. "I'm alone."

Ellie grinned, shrugging a little as if it were no big deal. “We kinda do, don’t we? It was so hectic in there…I don’t think I ever told you my name.” Extending her hand out to the other woman, she continued with, “I’m Ellie. Nice to meetcha!”

"Kinda wish it were under better circumstances, but.." Jodie accepted her hand, giving her a small shake. "Jodie. Just Jodie." It was nice meet someone that didn't have it out for you ; something that was scarce in these times.

The scene playing out before Leon’s eyes bring out the strong protective instinct in him. He steps between the young girl and the approaching BOW’s and shoots, holding them off for now.

"Hurry up and lift it! These things won’t stay back for long."

She spun about upon hearing the voice, eyes wide. She watched as he was shooting at those things and then quickly turned back around. It was now or never. With all that she could, she reached down and started to lift up the fallen rubble. An unknown force came from behind her and helped with the weight, making it possible for Jodie to hold it up. "Okay-- okay, it's good. Come on!"

It’s accidental meeting, he stumbles upon the girl when he turns a corner… entirely out of chance, if you would choose to use that word. She looks about as lost as he literally is, and it takes him a moment to work himself up to forming words. To speaking out, and interrupting the contemplative look across her face.

“ ——I… are you… do you need some help…? ”

In retrospect, perhaps that wasn’t the best thing to ask. But Leon, despite actually needing the help here, would always put those who seemed like they could use a hand, before himself. Maybe it was downfall, or maybe it made a good person. He was still waiting for the jury on that one.

His voice had brought her back to reality. Or at least she wasn't stuck inside her head. Took her a moment to process what he had said, which showed in her slow to change expression. Help. People were trying to help her.. for her entire life. She wasn't sure if they made it better or worse. She shook her head, a bit.. apologetic toward the man. She was most likely a poor sight to look at. Part of why she had avoided people for the past week-- or however long it had been. "No-- I'm.. I'm fine."

"Being stuck in there for five minutes was long enough for me." The younger stood and brushed off the grass and dirt from her jeans. "You all good?" She asked Jodie with a small tilt of her head.

"Yeah." She responded breathlessly, rolling over on the ground so that she was looking up at the sky. Then she sat up, head turning to watch Ellie. "We make a good team. Don't think I could've made it out without you."

— ۩ — She waited for the woman to climb into the cab, then locked the doors and sped off, squalling tires the entire time. She ran over some walkers, door-checked one or two, and they were out of danger for the most part. A couple walkers got close, on each side of the truck. Glaring at each of them, she’d roll both windows down.. then pull out her pistol.

PING, PING! Both walkers went down within seconds of each other, and the truck continued its trek onward. Shaking her head when they were finally able to stop, she leaned her head onto the wheel and panted,

"Never a dull moment… y’okay?"

It all happened so fast. Eyes wide, Jodie looked to the woman in the driver's seat-- and gave her a small nod. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. I'm.. used to this." For the most part, she was usually alone though. Having another with her wasn't something she was familiar with. "--why did you save me?"

"—Gimme a sec—" Grunting a little, she forced the rusted latch to turn, and, "Voila!" The young survivor couldn’t resist but call out, the window being tossed open. Crawling up over the window, she rolled onto the grass before crawling over to the window and extending her arm out. "It’s all clear; just grab my hand."

Jodie gave a small smile when the window opened-- good, that was one last thing to worry about. She then slipped off her pack and tossed it up to the girl. A moment later when she was ready, she took a jump toward her and caught her hand with her own, managing to get a grasp on the window's ledge. "And I was afraid we'd be stuck in there forever."

Luke doesn’t answer for a moment, instead walking up and nudging the thing’s head with the toe of his shoe. The skull rolls with the movement and settles back into place; more importantly, the body to which it’s connected to doesn’t move. He nods, satisfied, and steps away from the body.

"I reckon so," he told her, offering her a hesitant smile. "How you holdin’ up, kid?"

As she watches him, she gets an ill feeling inside her-- it's not that the whole dead thing was new to her, but it was rather unnerving having to look at it so.. close and detailed. "I don't know-- fine, I guess. However fine one can be."
