Depends on the song or the individual’s interpretation. I understand that it’s totally hard to separate the image of them being siblings considering they seriously look the part. Back then and even now, I see them as just counterparts of each other; technically, they aren’t even meant to be human.

Assuming the fandom’s habits are as the same as they were when I was 14-15, people really loved making AU fanworks where they weren’t siblings, so I don’t think a lot of people were in it for that particular aspect you’re thinking of. It’s not to say said fanworks that portrayed the opposite were non-existent, though.

Anyway, it’s been a few years since I actively shared LenRin content so as you could well imagine, I don’t ship them as ardently as I used to when I was 14-15. (I translated a few stuff even after that but still.) I can’t speak for how shippers rationalize it now.
