The ARG is so weird like. Wish the old forums were still up...only fangames I can find nowadays are all tied to it and the old games aren't really talked about anymore...they're interesting but I do miss people talking about Zampanio that freaky little RPG with a bunch of releases and translations...lots of little side content and fan hacks. Wish those were archived better. At least some shadow of it remains.

This is a fascinating topic that some of Zampanio proper's optional content addresses. I'm fairly certain much of the fandom really cringed onto the writing in Zampanio that focused on its nature as a piece of art speaking of itself...and the game even acknowledged the possibility of such derivative works...

The tale of the Sage of the Charred Terrace...a verdant place turned crimson...to seek ancient chronicles and bring them forth...

Sure they did not LIVE through Zampanio if you follow the quest line through...and you can argue whether they're truly the same especially given the many hints to them becoming a parasite host to the Folly of Heavens but...it's certainly interesting...I'll speak more on this later but...thrive is one word...but not the same. And maybe not as intact as one would think.

...I need to talk about the Moons in zampanio a bit more. This isn't quite right. Especially as the charms are mostly prevelant in fanworks. I'll get to this later but it's actually rather complex. It could thrive but never unchanged. It could also be consumed whole...depends on routes and some versions like weird little twists...I'll elaborate later.

I'll get back to this later but Echo's Fields, part of the Abyss of Nostalgia and ruled by the Beast of Sweetest Thorn has lore implications to the otherwise. Zampanio surprisingly...may not survive itself. Much of our records seem not to have, if you mean the community.

Even the game speaks of embracing change in some ways and thrashing. Being like a great brace against the end. Welding. Making do...

Ah, this could happen...but I honestly think falling into a lie is quite a risky move.

Wouldn't it be dangerous? The tale of the Oracle of the Fanged Cove sets a rather vicious example of the risk of losing yourself to a story believed by those with immense power.

Now, I do admit a solid counterexample is the Mayor of Vendale, and one could perhaps attribute the heroic deeds of the Mayor of Vendale as being similar, but the evil of the constabulary and administrative offices is a common tale in Zampanio...even a liaison to a constabulary like Shawn Spencer I daresay may be in for trouble.

I think the position and weight of it would likely obliterate his being, and replace it with a falsehood. If he's lucky enough to live that long.

Gus however, would definitely survive. In body and spirit. The Last Scout of Veracity mirrors his attitude and nature quite handily...however I shall not tag this post to Gus' survival. I hope you enjoy this though.

I must admit, I have not read Sherlock Holmes. I invite critique. However, there are a few angles to consider.

Alone, Jim Moriarty fits into a mastermind archetype, much like the Chancellor of the Federation of Drakes, admittedly that's an area of the lore that's highly up to debate, but given her survival in nature, albeit quite complicated in material...I think Mr. Jim Moriarty has quite a good chance.

From a narrative angle, the intention to kill. To succeed. To end a chronicle also plays in his favor. Though, given how Doyle was not able to keep the rival dead, perhaps much like the many ports, expansions, and versions of Zampanio...it would be a cruel sort of survival.

...you could make other arguments, especially if you mean a Moriarty from derivative works, though,I believe. I think this fits well into the existing lore. I personally love the Chancellor of the Federation of Drakes, and think Jim Moriarty in Zampanio would be quite interesting to contrast with that, were it a proper game...perhaps even a villainous rivalry? Though admittedly, the morals and ethics involved in the Federation of Drakes is...quite a complicated topic in the fandom, I do hope the old debate threads are still around somewhere.

Oh, I've seen you in passing on tumblr a few times...

I think, depending on the presence of outside forces outside Zampanio, you would either definitely survive, or die but not stay dead. Is your Puppeteer outside helping, or also drenched in Zampanio? If there was no connection, I still think your existing themes would get you picked up by something... Maybe not a god, or even a hero's prophecy but something would likely 'help' and avoid any sort of death scenario...

I don't know you much as a person, but I think there would be a possibility of growth or rot...you don't seem like the sort to stagnate though.

I think this is a fair enough judgement, but feel free to commentate if you think it is unfair.

Would popular fangame ZampanioSim survive Zampanio?

This is a fascinating question.

ZampanioSim, while I am not the most versed in it is a fascinating little fanwork. It's obsessed with health. With survival. With rot. Change...and in this, it shares a lot with Zampanio. It kind of reminds me of the Minotaur's Tears, and the infectious nature involved in those sorts of subareas/dungeons if you're not careful? I think it might actually fit in, quasi-naturally.

Some of the greater cosmology with Wanda and the Echidna...and the lack of time are a touch tricky. I know some in the fandom think that time is wholly divorced from Zampanio, but there are a lot of arguments that manipulation of time, dimensions, and space itself are quite important.

I think ZampanioSim could perhaps work similar to the mirror realm or shadow zones...a sort of, alternative narrative imposing itself upon the base map. However, as both of those incite change in the base map, the world itself will get its claws into ZampanioSim and its counterworld.

Now, there's also the intriguing bits of overlapping mechanics that I think, similar to the Mirror Realm would have some fascinating synergies in crossover spots too...but, anyhow.

I would classify this as living through, though not unchanged. Zampaniosim by @jadedresearcher would survive just fine. Honestly, I think it would be comedic some of the implied more modern twists the sort of high-fantasy-esque nature of Zampanio would mash against the modernized fanwork...

I mean no offense, but I think perhaps you have played an odd version? Or are you perhaps thinking of the story of Marie King...

At least in the versions I've seen Marie was slain by Mary King in an illegal ritual. This is half the reason, when you do confront Mary about the permit she tries to say it was a misspelling, but you can very easily find the evidence on a sidepath. Anyhow...

I don't recognize the permit structure as salvation, and very few gods did. I do GET why the fandom is so obsessed with the permits, but...seriously? You're really going to align with Council morality? That same Council that sentenced the Apple Orchards of Astellos to death?

I just don't get it...

(As for Marie, the permit was obtained for a really interesting gambit, which I would argue was not even a Traitor's case... if you look into the lore...but I can go into that later. I can also talk about Zampanio on this blog, but I have some asks to go through.)

This one was actually knocked out of the park. Apple Pie would survive in body and spirit, as it is a holy artifact-

Pumpkin Pie wouldn't survive because of the rot, however, as there are autumnal forces that will not quite eke out a survival. So, Apple was a good call for the Eris factor.

With how they navigate mysteries? With their understandings? With their tendencies... I doubt it. The anglerfish incident among others implies a weakness to trickery and I can't say they're immune to abyssal fracture either...

I'd say a split chance of Obliteration, Death, or Questant's Chosen Rot.

Not to consider the weight of their current quest...
