one thing about neil is that he's extremely calculated and genuinely does not give a fuck about 90% of people. and the 10% of people he Does care about he's still willing to manipulate and use for what he views as the best outcome (re: breaking a bone to heal it properly) and i think there's an instinct to downplay this so that neil can be the softer/less intense/emotional one to andrew's uncaring/intense/harsh demeanor bcus there's an obsession in our culture with opposites attract (re: heteronormativity) but it does their dynamic a huge disservice to ignore the Basis of andreil. which is the understanding they have of each other + their reasons + their reactions and how extremely similar they are.

מנסה כבר מתחילת קריירת הלטרבוקסד שלי (אקא הפיכתי לאדם שאוהב סרטים יותר מהבנאדם הממוצע) להחליט מה הקריטריונים שלי לדירוגים.

אם לדוגמה הסרט היה עצוב ומרגש ויפה וגרם לי לבכות ולא השתעממתי בו אבל באותו הזמן עם כתיבה מזעזעת, החלטיות צילומיות חסרות כל היגיון ועלילה מקרטעת, האם אני מדרגת אותו 5 כי בסופו של דבר נהניתי? או 3 כי לא חסרות לו מגרעות? או 4.5 כי הוא היה טיפה לא טוב, אבל נקשרתי אליו רגשית?

זה כאילו כל יום זה שונה - יכול להיות סרט ממש טוב, עם סינמטוגרפיה מהממת, כתיבה נפלאה ונפש טובה, אבל הוא היה טיפה משעמם ובאותו היום התעוררתי בצד הלא נכון של המיטה, אז הוא 3.5.

מצד אחד זו האמת שלי, אני אדם רגשי ובסופו של דבר סרט זו אומנות של תוכן, ואני כן אמורה לבקר אותה לפי איך שהיא גרמה לי להרגיש, פשוט כנראה לתת לזה פחות מקופ בדירוג הסופי. או, שהראש שלי יכול לצאת מהתחת שלי ואני יכולה להבין שדירוג של איזה הזויה בלטרבוקסד לא באמת משנה.
