It's a crow.

More precisely; A crow with a rather unique personality, a strange auburn sheen to its feathers, and golden eyes too sharp for your average bird.

Although highly intelligent, its understanding of human speech is very limited.

It appears to have an odd preference for quiet places and "clean" things.

The crow is something of a joke RP character I created for short, action-driven interactions! Don't take it too seriously.

Character pronouns: it/its, he/his, they/them (It's literally a bird - I'm okay with whatever!) Name(s): None given yet! Feel free to have your characters name the crow!

Someone, or something, was quietly, yet repeatedly, rapping on the cabin's door.

They seemed to radiate a rather ... specific brand of stress and annoyance.

Hm..? What's that noise?

Atsuhito was trying to read the newspaper while on their bed when they heard the racket. Unfortunately, Rappa and Tengai were both not home for whatever reason, probably work related, so it was up to her to investigate.

Atsu huffed as he put down the newspaper and got up off his bed. She made their way out of their room and walked through the cottage before reaching the front door.

The crow was sitting on the ground right in front of the door, and did not stop hammering its beak against the wood in a near frantic fashion until the very second it opened.

Because no sooner that the way was clear, it flew straight past the human into the cottage, leaving behind a cloud of the dust and dirt that coated its feathers.

In its desperate search for water, it headed straight for the tank with Rappa's shrimp.

Atsu's eyes widened immediately. She hadn't even gotten in a hello before they had to chase after the bird.

HEY! GET OUT! OUT, OUT!

He yelled in a panic. This was definitely not good. Was it an animal? Was it like the prinipal, did it have a Quirk? Was it someone with a bird Quirk?

NOT THE TANK!

Atsu shouted as he ran into the tank room.

It landed near the tank, glancing inside, and quickly caught sight of the inhabitants.

This water was almost as filthy as its feathers. It wouldn't do.

From the other room, the human came running, and they were making a lot of unpleasant noise.

Not wanting to deal with them, the crow flew on into the kitchen, knocking over some small trinket as it tried to navigate the tight space of the cottage.

HEY! OUT! BAD BIRD!

Atsu Quickly U-turned, trying to chase after the crow. This was bad. The bird would trash the entire place.

PLEASE, I'M BEGGING YOU! I'M GONNA BE IN SO MUCH TROUBLE!

The crow managed a somewhat clumsy landing in the empty kitchen sink.

It continued to ignore the human, too preoccupied with the dirt covering its plumage, and instead began to peck at the tap. There had to be a way to get the water running. Humans did that all the time.

Atsu stared at the crow for a moment, slowing down.

What-?

He stared, trying to make sense of the scene playing out in front of him. Was the crow.. thirsty?

Despite all the fluttering, pecking and hopping in place, the crow couldn't get the water to run, and the more it tried, the more stressed it became.

He groaned before shaking his head slightly. And then he tried to make his way towards the counter without spooking the crow.

The crow was too caught up in its own distress to notice the human approaching.

Moreover, the exhaustion from its search for water was beginning to settle in. It stopped to beat its wings frantically and just sat there, in the sink, desperately trying to figure out how to work the tap in its head.

Atsuhito hesitantly reached out, turning the tap slightly, just enough for some water to start pouring out. But she made sure it wouldn't be too sudden that it would freak out the bird.

Hey little guy.. is that what you wanted?

The crow did startle briefly when the human reached past it, but the danger of a potentially hostile human was secondary to the fact that clear water was pouring into the sink.

It wasted no time to hop under the stream, raised its head into the water and allowed itself to close its eyes for a few seconds, profoundly relieved that the dirt was finally coming off.

Atsu leaned against the counter and crossed their arms. It was adorable. Such a cute little crow, he thought.

Damn, you were pretty thirsty, weren't you.

Hm.. maybe I'll have to set up a bird feeder and some water for ya outside.

As soon as the largest amount of dirt had washed away, the crow began to obsessively preen its feathers, making extra sure that every little bit of its plumage was going to be pristine. Or, as pristine as it could be with just water.

As usual, a few small, black feathers came loose during this process. It plucked and discarded them.

Atsuhito continued to observe the crow. It was fascinating how the bird plucked each feather. It was something so small yet it was kind of amazing to watch. It wasn't every day someone could get so close to a bird.

Hm.. you're certainly takin' care of yourself. As much as a crow can, anyway.

After what were possibly minutes of preening - the crow sometimes got so caught up in it it forgot about everything else - it finally took the time to actually look around.

The human was staring at it. It didn't like being stared at.

Being inside a house was also ... less than ideal.

Afraid of becoming trapped, the crow hopped out of the sink and snapped its beak at the human with its feathers puffed up, trying to threaten them into backing off.

Atsu screamed at the sudden movement. Since when had he become afraid of birds? He took a slight step away from the counter.

Oh my- god.. ya about gave me a heart attack, birdy..

Atsu glanced out of the window. Perhaps he could open the kitchen window and let the bird out rather than making an attempt to parade it through the house until it finally made its way out of the front door.

Trying to navigate the house was still a challenge, however, and now that it was clean, it was trying hard not to fly into anything, which led to more fluttering about instead.

Atsu yelled as she gave chase once more. Finally, they settled on just standing by the door. Perhaps the crow would notice the exit? After all it did seem to be keeping an eye on Atsu.
