Dealing with Rejection

We at many times have undergone a multiple rejections. We on our part have performed well at ourselves, but have faced “no” too. The rejection could be done in many forms, be it our exams, or any activity, Group Discussions or the Interviews. Everyone experience the sting of rejections on each part, but mentally strong persons are able to deal with rejections and use that pain to grow stronger and become better.

The ideal person who dealt with rejections, one of the Millionaire of China and the Founder of Alibaba- Jack Maa. He hails from a small family, with having nothing in his hands, got rejected a multiple of times when he applied jobs in various companies.

He failed in Middle school, somehow tried to get into the police, even in KFC, out of 24 candidates, he was the only one who got rejected. He applied for Harvard University and got rejected 10 times from the very same. In an Interview he had replied-“I may not be the student of Harvard University, but I could teach there someday”. He always believes in the strong conviction that one should be simple in one’s approach and must make the best of the Opportunity that comes in One’s way.

Rejection should be always taken as the Opportunity in every sense. The very importance lies in the very fact that how do we take rejection and respond to it.

Ø Acknowledging emotions: There are multiple times that we respond to our emotions in very Incumbent way. Always make the attitude of the “No big Deal” to deal with.

Ø Have the positive attitude: Be prepared for dealing with yes and No in any situation. Be optimistic and Jigged about what has to be done.

Ø Learning from your Mistakes: The best way to tackle with all mistakes is to change and implement the new ways of learning and apply the same in the next coming Opportunities.

Ø Self - belief: Don’t let other person to make or define or make opinions about any one. You have to strongly adhere and stick to fundamentals in your life.

So think about Jack Maa, Who has done established ALIPAY from the very scratch. If he hadn’t had the pool of rejections, He can’t have made his name as the best Entrepreneur ever.

Colors of love" When I look back , I have black in hand and it's shades are still . Dissolved, delinquent as if it was only grey.i heard people that there is nothing black or white, it's hue is grey. Canvas of life is still colorless and it has to painted by your hands and if that has to be done, the first stroke would be black. Black demarcates the boundaries,it set your limits,confines you with what you have to portray and it is difficult but indeed creates difference. Love is a choice and I had made one,not on gifts and roses, great dark chocolate,but with the audacity to walk on the road that is less traveled. The journey has just started and will go on....And love has given me the strength and indomitable will to stand alone and against all the norms. So next time you see me, my shade will be black -an intense, original and bold whose stroke is a master piece. Happy Valentine's day........

“She has the recipe of success”

There is no doubt in the fact that women are very good managers in all the ways. The patriarchy challenges her to be in the confined boundaries that makes her abilities and intellect to be placed in decorating the homes and don’t let her to go beyond. This concept is very adaptable and accustomed to the Indian household or more largely it is in the South East Asian countries. But we need to consider once again – Sure we have to!!!

A successful story of a Chennai based Patricia Narayan stood against all the odds. With having a troubled marriage and a multiple addict husband, with two kids she sold eateries on the Marina Beach on the mobile cart to earn the bread and butter. Her story will sound like the quintessential from the rags to the riches but she made the dent on her part. She heads the multiple chains of Restaurants known well as “Sandeepha chain of Restaurants”.

She was the entrepreneur by the accident, now confidently and assertively stood the “FICCI Entrepreneur Award”, and is one of those strong ladies who belong to the ilk of those that bloom in adversity. Describing about her, she hails from an orthodox Christian family in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. She married to the man who belongs to the Brahmin Community and that caused uproar in the family. This marriage was a fail and better said that it was not a good start in the marriage when she found her husband to be the drug addict. At very young at 18, she was left all alone to feed her two small children.

Gathering her Reminisces she recollects -“I reached the crossroads where I had to choose between living and dying. I chose to live.” Keeping her two children in mind .Her passion for cooking was the only option that is left to survive her along with the two others. She started by selling pickles, jams and squashes on the small pavilion on the Marina Beach. She sold the coffee at 50 paisa per cup and there was no looking back, she has no time to sympathies herself.

Amidst of all the hindrances and the problems that she has to face, her long dream of being the entrepreneur and the restaurateur was not the overnight miracle. Because of the good cooking abilities, the soul thing that she possess, she got the catering contracts in the various cafeteria in the Slum Clearance Board, Bank of Madura and the National Institute of port management, which in joint collaboration opened the chain of restaurants.

But indeed this was not the just she was getting it better, her success halted when she lost her newly married daughter Sandeepha in the accident. The tragedy left her pained and paralyzed due to her daughter’s death. She didn’t resume to her business for two years and all was managed by his son Praveen. The resilient and the benevolent after two years stood and opened her first restaurant named after her late daughter Sandeepha.

“It’s very important that one should have the motto to achieve in life”. Her immense dedication and diligence is to provide with all the best added with the quality and the hygiene that make distinct from all the others. Apart from the restaurants, she also operates the ambulance service from Acchrapakkam, the accident spot where she lost her daughter to Chengalpet. She expresses strongly that willpower is all you need to succeed. Not a complacent Entrepreneur, she targets to herself. Inquiring to her next goal, she wants to start her with the Cruise Liner- a long distant dream that is not too far for her. She smiles with the audacity.

What Kills innovation at work?

Innovation perpetuates from creativity, but overseeing the great ideas and draining them in vain, not knowing how to get the best out of it, kills innovation in the organization. To embrace the ideas and to churn the best in the organization needs to be suspended by the top management.

The organization like Google or Facebook mark the dent in the corporate due to the differentiated Talent Management and Mobility that works and make those Ideas get going. Apart from the fixed work which is inclusive in the job profile, there are many other assets in the employee within that can redefine your business and the furnish the organizational structure making leaders for tomorrow.

There are some factors that kill the innovation at work. Some of them are usual and some are unfortunate in dealing with it:

Ø Unnecessary Meetings: This is reported in many HR Survey that 76%of the meetings go futile, when it lacks agenda to work with the specific purpose. Usually in order to harness the ideas, corporate arranges for the “brainstorming sessions”, but ideas come organically at an instant.

Ø Focus on the Short Term Results: Many organizations looks for the short term outputs, as any new egg requires times to hatch to have the healthy chick, and so innovation gets a bit aside in channelizing the new potential in order to achieve the set of fixed targets. There is the fear of cannibalizing the new business with the investment.

Ø Put the innovation gun on other’s shoulder: It is one of the high ends that employees feel that the innovation is some other’s work, and we can’t weigh down in that. There are no standard protocols for the new ideas that give an open space of thinking.

Ø Bad managers: Most of our efficiency is drained to achieve the monthly targets. The managers find the flaws in the ideas, without understanding the Crude ignition in them.

Debates on the innovation and sessions on grabbing new ideas can’t be done, unless and until the organization provides the flexible work space, and must embrace the ideas that have the support wings to fly high. So now celebrate the new ideas that make your business operational.

Control the Busywork:

It’s great to be busy as it keeps you aligned towards the work in all the ways. But sometimes it “kick some butt” out from the organization. Busy at some “good work” can help in many ways as it keeps you fully enjoyed and happy at your workstations.

But if you are too busy that at the end of the day you keep yourself mismanaged and unorganized, having “stress” is the only gift at your home take away, Then look back and think again.

There are some effective ways to manage your busy work. It is always recommended that one should make the best ways to have the “productive busywork” with added value benefits.

Say “NO” diplomatically:

Saying “No” to the works that you can’t do at a given point of time is tone of the smart ways in management. Always set up the right expectations towards the person who ask for work. Loading up with the piles of work will add stress and will lead to less productivity.

Prioritize your “ASAP” Work:

If you are bombarded with the inbox that mails for the “ASAP” work, always proceed for the work that has to be done first. If the project deadline is to be met, or the audit has asked for the report query, ensure that you line up the work accordingly. Just be subtle of the email communication, where the online communication has to be delivered. The concept of “Organize and Prioritize” is the key component to handle the work.

Be pessimistic with time

Always be prepared for the worst that could not be done in the specific time line. Have the valid justifications for the incompletion of the work. Preparing time table, making the checklist of what has to be done should always be notified in the given set of time line. Delegate the responsibility if you are working in teams or working in synergy.

Ask For the Returns:

“I scratch your back, if you scratch mine”. If your reporting manager is asking for the work, align that particular work that will give something you in return. This will help in cascading your normal workflow at each and every time you set up the deadline for the work.

Apart from the work that is listed in above points, avoid the maximum distractions that are hindrance at your work. Stress is important to furnish and accelerate your work so that it will lead to great productivity.

“Curbing with Procrastination”

It is one of the common practices irrespective of our productivity that we all delay off with the work. This is just the habit that one perpetuates, but to get rid of with this is a big challenge to streamline the work in our daily life. There are some common reasons that why do we procrastinate.

Ø Stop the Negative Self Talk: It is very generic that we are good at programming ourselves with the Negative self-talk, and longer we do it, the more convincing it appears to be. Volunteer yourself to take a fresh start.

Ø Lack Of skills: Usually we keep refraining ourselves from the very set of practices that is not very get going. For e.g. If somebody ask you to dance, even if you don’t have the expertise, try exploring it up.

Ø Afraid of what other think of Us: We kept counting a lot of excuses that we made to postpone a lot of things. In fairness, sometimes censoring our actions that prevent us from taking decisions because of what others think.

Ø Wondering of Success and Failures: It may sound Counterintuitive but sometimes the looming success can make you procrastinate too, So act fast for the things that is most probable.

Ø Context with Expectations: Just be clear about the things that are made you best at your part. If you are successful, then people will make you to write the success stories, irrespective of the master piece that you make.

Ø Get out from your Comfort zone: Accept the challenges and face the world. One should have the attitude to face the world and to react good at it.

Apart from this, the best way to curb with the procrastination is to have the positive attitude towards work at each and every situation and must have the audacity to make something different.

“Gracias, Danke and Thank you”- Speak with Difference

When is the last time that you said thank you to your supporting staff when they have given the best of the figure in the board room that run out in the profit margin. “Thank you for all that you have done”- this creates one of the best difference in all who are solely connected with you in all forms. From the cobbler, to the washer man, to the milk booth or the one who is the helper in the house, “A big thanks” creates an impact- giving the essence of your Presence.

I was watching the video of Laura Trice who was giving the exemplary benefits of saying “thank you”. She was explaining that this habit should be cultivated in each one of us that –whether working in the organization, in team or in synergy. This thrusts the very gratitude towards the person and vanishes all the things that are taken for granted. If you take the beloved on the evening stroll, show the gratitude for her company to you. Trice emphasized on the very things that we all talk of the world peace, but it is still vague when we change from the very courtyard of our homes. To be very specific, the courtesy of Japanese people is highly motivating and aspiring. We made be culturally different, linguistically apart or may be very different from the way we look, but the very sense of helping, assisting and showing the gratitude towards each other is there in each one of us.

So get into the habit of frequently saying thank you to your subordinates or your peers and your organization will multiply with benefits. The recent studies suggested that Expressing gratitude will lead to :

· Happy Employees: It is well known fact that happiness buffer when the employee needs recognition. But even a small thank you for an ordinary help will help in reinforcing the positive behavior, validate your efforts and increases the sense of commitment to the work and the organization.

· Stronger Relationships: With having an immense pressure in the organization that focus on the increased productivity, recognition of the employee along with the appreciation of the colleagues’ effort plays an important role in employee engagement.

· Stress Free Environment: The power of saying thank you is so encompassing that it creates healthy environment, increases the level of motivation and even leads to reduces absenteeism by giving the best productivity in all the ways.

So start saying Thank you and celebrate the best way to express with an amiable smile.
