((Finally alive!))
“…Then I’ll stay for now,” he smiled. Adam nodded as he sat back down. The road will always stay, right? He trusted Alister enough for that. “I don’t want to leave you alone for now.”
Alister smiled at Adam gratefully. It was nice that someone wanted to stay with him.
Suddenly feeling excited, Alister popped up from the bench. He turned and beamed at Adam.
"Would you like a place to stay," Alister asked. “I could make a place just for you."
"I'd be very grateful, Alister," Adam smiled, bowing in respect and thanks. "Thank you so much. It wouldn't be any trouble, right? I mean, me being here...You'll have to provide food and accommodation..."
“Ah, thank you,” Adam smiled, proceeding to get up. He looked back at Alister though; would it be right to just leave? Or should he stay? Would Alister want him to say or go back?
“…Um…should I take my leave now?”
“If that is what you want,” Alister said with a little pout.
He liked this man, but Alister knew the final desicion was not up to him.
“You might be able to stay here if you want,” Alister tols Adam. “The Dream might let you stay.”
"...Then I'll stay for now," he smiled. Adam nodded as he sat back down. The road will always stay, right? He trusted Alister enough for that. "I don't want to leave you alone for now."
Alister gave a shy smile to Adam and nodded.
“You are welcome,” he told the other man.
Something brushed against the back of his mind, making Alister jerk.
“Oh,” he said. “The Dream is making a way for you to go home.”
"Ah, thank you," Adam smiled, proceeding to get up. He looked back at Alister though; would it be right to just leave? Or should he stay? Would Alister want him to say or go back?
"...Um...should I take my leave now?"
“Not everything,” Alister muttered, unconsiously rubbing his wrist. He still had scars from his last punishment. “The Dream is the one who has full control. It decides in the end if I am fit you have my own dream.”
Alister felt a shudder run through him at the thought of failing. While he did not know much, the memory of the Bloody Dreamer still lingered at the edges of his dream. It was a warning and a reminder.
"Take care of your dream well then," Adam nodded, smiling at Alister. The flower still retained its beauty, and Adam looked at it with a happy expression. It would remind him of his mother and Alister, and it would give him the encouragement to get back on his feet again.
"Thank you for this, Alister."
Sing to bring death? Adam looked at Alister with a shocked expression. How can he sing such…to bring death? Why would he do that? If the Dream is the creator that makes the dreams that people dream…What…?
Alister noticed the look on Adam’s face and cringed, shrinking down.
“It is what must be down,” Alister muttered. “Sometimes bad things get into my dream, and that is the only way to get rid of them.”
"So you are the master of your dream," he smiled, understanding. "You want this dream to be ideal to you, yes?" Adam looked around; it was a peaceful dream, Alister's ideal dream. No wonder Alister wanted to be here. He was the complete master of everything.
"At least you can control everything here...Even with my authority as a prince...They conspire against me."
Alister was pleased to make the man smile. And he asked about The Dream. Alister liked talking about The Dream.
“The Dream is the creator,” Alister beamed. “It makes the dreams that people dream.”
Everyone dreamed, but not everyone could call a dream their own.
“The Dream brought me to my dream,” Alister said. “I only know my dream now. I sing to give my dream life.”
Alister was proud of his dream, but then his face turns twisted.
“I sing to bring death.”
Sing to bring death? Adam looked at Alister with a shocked expression. How can he sing such...to bring death? Why would he do that? If the Dream is the creator that makes the dreams that people dream...What...?
A bluebird begins to fly around the lab.
"Eh?" Adam looked, then ordered his scientists to keep the bird away from the acids. The bird can fly, but keep the chemicals away from the bird.
“Blue,” Adam smiled. “It always has been. It’s been a while since I’ve drawn something too…” She reached for a crayon and started sketching a few diagrams.
“I like blue! See! I wear blue!” The boy pat his clothes and then continued to draw. It wasn’t hid favorite color, though. His favorite was his favorite because of Alter. ”My favorite’s red! And Alter’s is yellow! ’Cause we’re best friends.”
Alter? Who was Alter?
"Best friends? But I see no one here..." Adam looked around and blinked. Was this kid...held because...
Oh.
[HER] syndrome had this symptom...
Alister finished his song, with a smile. The flower looked beautiful as it finished blooming. With a pleased hum to himself, Alister reached over and plucked the flower carefully.
Alister brought it over. He turned to Adam and held the flower out to him, grinning like a child who was proudly presenting something to a parent.
"Thank you very much," Adam smiled, taking the delicate flower. He took great care to hold it, and when he faced Alister, he began to speak again. "Your gift...your dream is beautiful. What...is The Dream anyways? How did it change your life? Just look at you; you sing of hope and dreams and...of everything!"
“Wonderful for lullabies,” Adam smiled, “but horrible when it came to reaching the high notes,” he laughed. “She’s not a professional in singing like you, but she certainly can command an army and instill faith in discouraged people.”
Adam smiled to himself. “A shame I can’t be like my mother…Otherwise, I would have had the strength to defend my country from inner turmoil.”
Regal, well voiced, but not professional. Beautiful and caring, but a strong leader. Alister liked the sound of this woman.
He felt pleased with the description and was not surprised when a song began to form inside his chest.
Alister began to hum a few bars before he sat up and began to let the song flow from him. The song rose and fall with Alister’s thoughts on Adam’s mother.
As he sang, a silvery-white-blue flower began to grow near the bench they sat on.
Adam's eyes widened when he saw the flower, but he smiled at Alister with an even warmer smile. Yes, his mother was very much like this flower, and he closed his eyes as he listened to the song. It was calming, as if his mother spoke to him.
Alister cocked his head, watching with some awe. He was eager to hear about this man’s mother.
As Adam described her, Alister began to picture her in his head. She was a regal figure within his mind, and it made joy bubble up within him.
“What was her voice like,” Alister asked.
"Wonderful for lullabies," Adam smiled, "but horrible when it came to reaching the high notes," he laughed. "She's not a professional in singing like you, but she certainly can command an army and instill faith in discouraged people."
Adam smiled to himself. "A shame I can't be like my mother...Otherwise, I would have had the strength to defend my country from inner turmoil."
“I do not know,” Alister said. “I do not remember from before The Dream. I do not WANT to remember from before The Dream.”
Alister curled in on himself some. It was at times like this, he missed his doll. It had been the only thing he had brought into his dream.
“Tell me about your mother,” Alister asked with pleading eyes looking up at Adam.
Adam looked at Alister with a gentle expression on his face. The man needed it, and Adam was always ready to help.
"My mother is the queen of our country," Adam began with a proud smile. "I never knew my father; my father died before I was born, so she took care of me all by herself. I am her only son; her only beloved son. She's very beautiful, but she refused to marry again because she only focused on ruling the country and making sure I'm safe. Mother's very powerful and very smart as well..."
Adam could almost feel the tears welling up in his eyes.
the first thing adam thinks about in tough situations
Adam: Mother would know what to do.
Alister listened with frown.
“I don’t have a mother,” Alister said softly. “I don’t think I have ever had one. I don’t know. All I know is The Dream, and my dream. They are what matters.”
Yes, The Dream mattered. But why did Alister not have a mother? Did The Dream think he did not need one? Or does it not want him to have one?
“And I am sorry you lost yours,” Alister muttered, for he felt that was the right thing to do.
"It's alright," he smiled at Alister. A warm, kind smile, but a smile full of sorrow too. "The Dream? It gave you this dream? But...you must have a mother somewhere...Even if you don't want your mother, there is always the fact that you have one...And even if you're not human, you must come from somewhere..."
Despite his annoyance, Alister perked at something the man said.
“Mother,” Alister questioned, almost like an excited child. “What is mother? I have heard the word before, but I do not know what it means.”
He looked at the man hopefully.
"You...don't know what is a mother?" Adam asked, appalled. He scratched his head, brought Alister to a nearby bench and decided to talk there. This would be a long conversation, minus possible toilet breaks and food breaks.
"A mother is a woman who gives birth to you and brings you into the world. Basically, a mother is a woman who brings you up, guides you and loves you no matter how you turn out to be," Adam smiled nostalgically. "...My mother is gone, however, and I miss my mother dearly."
