Felix thought for a moment, her words in his head. The home he grew up in was nice and he had had a good education. It was his parents that he couldnât handle. They were cruel and made him do cruel things. They did cruel things to him if he didnât do what they wanted. Felix couldnât do it, so he left. His homelessness always seemed like a choice, and not so bad. What made this place wonderful wasnât just the beds, but the acceptance and the people. âWell,â he said in a small voice, âwhat about love?â He didnât know that he could look forward to it, but it was the best he had to hope for.
The siren chewed her lip. It was funny how often this subject had come up in conversation since she arrived. It was beyond her, the idea of finding anything truly fulfilling under the circumstances. Even if one were to bond, what kind of life could be made within the confines of a place like this? If one were to fall in love, they couldnât raise a family or travel together or even introduce their lover to their friends and family. Perhaps it wouldnât be quite as complicated between two Masters but in Felixâs position, she couldnât imagine any permutation where it would truly end well. Yet, she couldnât bring herself to snuff out the glimmer of hope in his eyes. âI suppose thereâs always that,â she said with a gentle smile.
