I saw a medieval Robb Stark fancast that to me looked like Ron, there was a chat on discord in which @drpansyp came up with a medieval romione+panville scenario and of course I started imagining 27368 side stories with other HP characters and collected a bunch of medieval pics in a Pinterest board (including the one I based this on). The prompt I chose for the fest is Gladiolus, I focused on the sword/pierce the heart/infatuation meaning. Basically Draco and Ginny are from rival families, he's some pampered noble and she's of course a badass.. this could be a first meeting, or maybe they'd been aware of each other before... I didn't think I'd be able to finish this on time and I wish I could've polished it more, I figured I should start using a bigger canvas because the size I've been using so far doesn't allow me to add as many details to full body drawings as I'd like (bc I can't zoom in too much) For Draco's hair I used the Princess Bride guy hair as reference (it's been ages since I watched it so I don’t remember all the names sorry 😩). I went back and forth between giving Ginny a long skirt or making the lower part more like male clothing which is what I ended up doing.

I started drawing this a few weeks ago and went back to it today because I've been too busy (party my fault for spending so much time scrolling twitter smh but also I've been trying to finish reading some books/finish watching some stuff before the end of the year. Plus it's the holidays so all of a sudden everyone wants to meet up). I consciously tried to not be scared of shadows since I've been trying to do them in my traditional drawings recently.

Some Drinny fanart I found in my old drawings folder (I'm talking like 15ish years old) I have to say I'm kind of amazed I was able to get the hands to look like that, the arm guidelines tell me I had a ton of patience to follow instructions from how to draw humans/manga type tutorials. And I don't always get to draw hands that look like that! I need to do hand practice again (right now I'm practicing eyes and I think ears are next, I have to check)
This I scanned, cleaned up and colored in photoshop, with the lasso tool using a mouse which tells me I did have infinite amounts of patience back then. Not even the magnetic lasso, the polygon one (I think that's what it's called?) because I do remember the lines came out smoother that way. The drawing:

This accidentally turned out more cartoony than my usual drawings (I was really trying to follow the proportions so the eyes came out bigger and big eyes = cartoon). I was tempted to start shading but in the end I decided to keep it simple.

Trying some painting brushes. One day I'll actually follow a proper coloring tutorial. I should've angled his head more but as usual when I draw something I don’t like to erase and redo because it just ends up looking funny 99% of the time.
