I absolutely loved spending time at @umass for their luau-themed @cmnhospitals Dance Marathon to benefit Baystate Children’s Hospital! I sang “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana with these two incredible Miracle Kids (Momo and Carmelina), helped with crafts, and had a blast with Miss Pioneer Valley 2018 - June Klemmer and Miss Western Massachusetts 2018 - Kensi Riley! Sharing the Harvest Farm’s mission is: hunger relief, promoting volunteerism, and educating youth. The @elliefund Red Carpet Gala at the gorgeous @fairmontcopley tonight was nothing short of incredible, raising over $70,000 for breast cancer patients. It was a wonderful night raising awareness for women’s heart health at the @ywcasema Red Dress Fashion Show! The executive director of the Miss Massachusetts' Outstanding Teen Organization, @dklamkin, was the keynote speaker tonight. During my visit at Sippican Elementary School today, I read to and chatted with each grade (K-2) separately. To my delight, the whole kindergarten class read the book aloud with me! It was the best! I absolutely loved my time with Mrs. Greening’s 5th grade class this morning!!! After reading “In November,” we talked about my jobs as a nurse and as Miss Massachusetts and discussed the importance of working hard and doing your best. Many of the students had a good grasp on why we all need to serve and help people, which was music to my soul! The students had thoughtful questions, which sparked meaningful discourse. The first 2017 Hunger Heroes Project Committee meeting is underway! Last year, we packaged 500 Thanksgiving meals (200 more than 2015) and paired them with a fresh turkey for families in need. This year, our goal is to double the numbers you see in this chart from 2016.
