Catherine "Cat" Shire // Thirty-One // Gifted Human // Wonderland Dancer
Not much is known about Catherine to those around her. She’s a mysterious person and prefers to live in the moment, not giving much regard to what chaos she causes.
Catherine, best known as Cat, has lived in Evermore her entire life. She was born and raised there and, honestly, she loves it. There’s something about the mystery of a town that no one can escape that Cat thrives off of. She’s curious by nature and almost always as her lips curved into an eerie grin.
From a young age the girl was always curious, getting into things she wasn’t supposed to, and laughing at the most obscure things. Her parents thought she was strange. When she was born she didn’t cry and as she grew up that didn’t change. She wasn’t a sad child, but too caught up in her insanity to realize what was going on around her.
Her parents were fine. Cat prefers not to think of them. She was born to be their shining jewel and when she stood out as odd from the rest of the world her parents had another child. It wasn’t until her sister was born that Cat’s abilities came to light. She had never been a jealous person but she was still so young at the time, she didn’t understand.
The two sisters grew older and her abilities only grew stronger. She used them to her advantage. While her parents treated the younger of the two girls like their pride and joy Cat would go out of her way to wreak havoc on their lives. She could blend in with her surroundings, appear out of nowhere, and amplify the demons in one’s mind.
Still, Catherine always acted like life was fine and she hadn’t grown up an outcast in her own home. She had always embraced her weirdness and loved that she wasn’t just a cookie cutter princess. There was an instance though, she was in her teens, and in an attempt to cause trouble she ended up driving her sister insane. Being able to enhance and amplify one’s own psychosis was a dangerous ability and Cat used it to her advantage all the time. Perhaps this time had been too far. Her sister just…wasn’t herself afterwards to put it lightly. Never once did the light leave Catherine’s eyes as she watched her sister scream in terror from the thoughts in her own mind.
After that her parents kicked her from their home. The thing was though…Cat wasn’t very affected by it. She saw it as an opportunity to move with the flow of time. She used her powers to get by and when she was old enough she found Wonderland. The place was just as bonkers as herself and she was quickly hired as a dancer.
Working at Wonderland almost made Cat feel like she fit in somewhere, which was still slightly unsettling, but it was in a way where people only fit in because they didn’t. It was a very curious place filled with strange things and Cat thrived off of the chaos that it brought.
As time went on Cat was bringing in mounds of cash and that meant a raise and a better position at Wonderland. She was their head dancer and Cat knew that plenty of the people that came to Wonderland came to see her. She didn’t let that inflate her ego, but she did enjoy the attention. She was good at what she did and it gave her a steady income.
Now, Cat lives in a nice apartment she’s made her own. There’s strange paintings hung and odd decor. Nothing really quite fit in together but at the same time the things in her home complimented the place. Though her purple bedspread is a must. She may be strange but she still has a favorite color.
When Cat isn’t at Wonderland or at home she’s probably hiding in the shadows, lurking and preying on the next poor soul that has to endure her chaotic energy. Her personal life is private. She doesn’t really have many close friends or relationships, not wanting to settle into a routine. Besides, her own family left her so who says everyone else isn’t going to? She rarely dates because it always ends in disaster and in the end…everyone leaves.
She knows she can get under people’s skin and it brings light to her eyes. It’s not difficult for her to make someone uncomfortable or question how sane she really is. She is not a wholly innocent person, having made impulsive decisions in the past, and doesn’t pretend to be. A morally grey would be one way to describe her.
She’s never been a superficial person but working at Wonderland did boost her confidence. She had never thought twice about how good looked, usually just rolling with whatever she went with. With the attention her job brought Cat tried to make herself look her best and knows she does a damn good job at it.
Alice is a very peculiar and sensitive subject for Catherine. She feels the need to protect the girl and guide her, for some reason. Cat’s not quite sure how Alice ended up in Wonderland but maybe she’s the key to something missing. She just can’t quite put her finger on what that is though.
All in all…she’s just vibing and doing her own thing. She does what she wants when she wants and won’t let anyone, or thing, get in the way of that. She’s a very content person and enjoys living life not knowing what will happen next.
