Sweden has been criticised for its more relaxed approach to handling the pandemic.
Yeah, no shit.
Instead of rushing the elderly to hospitals and putting them on oxygen, they remained at home or in nursing homes and were given morphine.
Yeah, I would say the Swedish way was a fucking failure.

A small correction: Christopher Lee didn't release a metal album. He released two, and 3 EPs.

"The Public Health Agency denied or downgraded fact that children could be infectious, develop severe disease, or drive spread of infection in the population; while their internal emails indicate their aim to use children to spread infection in society"
The Swedish Way.
And then Tegnell and his pals met with every government of the Western World who afterwards fell all over themselves to use the same narrative that children don't get infected, and if they do get infected they don't get ill, and if they do get ill they don't get severe disease, and if they do get severely ill they don't die from it, and if they do die from it they only did so because of preconditions, and if they didn't have preconditions then you had to have imagined their deaths, and if they do get infected they don't spread the virus.
And you still wonder why the pandemic cost us and is still costing us so much death, disease, disability and pain?

Imagine Rick O'Connell and Indiana Jones meet at some point (probably while Rick is in the Foreign Legion) and absolutely get into and out of some kind of trouble together. Years later, after Rick is married to Evie the two of them go to some archeologists' symposium and Indiana is there and Rick is like "YOU" and then it turns out that Indiana knew Evie from academic stuff as well.
I just think this would be funny.
So, based on the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles: Indiana Jones was born in 1900ish. So running into Rick he would have been in his early 20s. We can assume Rick to be in his late 20s or early 30s, so it fits.
Stolen from Wiki:
It would be more fitting for Indy to meet Rick in the mid 30s when the Nazis are attempting the plot in the Last Crusade. Would be the perfect cameo, but even more perfect if they had a mutual friend in Marcus Brody or Sallah.
But it works!!
Okay so Rick O'Connell was born in 1902. The bulk of The Mummy is set in 1926 (That man? 24 years old???). So he and Indy are relatively the same age.
This meshes so well.
Indy knowing Evie from academic work is way funnier to me, especially if they hate each other because she thinks he's a grave-robbing hack with a rep for screwing around with underage daughters of mentors, and he thinks she's annoying. Especially because he wants to dislike her work but can't find fault with it.
Rick: "Oh, this is why you hate the University of Chicago so much"

It never was "just a cold".
reminder that even if the world health organization says covid is over, it isnt.
Turns out it was just a bunch of news organizations completely misrepresenting what the WHO said. COVID isn't over. They're shifting from "world health emergency" to long term strategies because major countries failed to even contain it because they were so adamant to send everybody back to work as fast as possible. WHO's announcement that COVID is no longer a global health emergency isnt something to celebrate. It shows that everyone (governments and anti-maskers/vaxxers, mostly) collectively failed to care enough.
https://twitter.com/WHO/status/1654477334139863041
of course. news organizations took this and rolled with it, misleading everyone into believing COVID is no longer anything to worry about. exactly what they said Not To Fucking Do
To be clear, this means Covid is now ENDEMIC. Which means itâs part of the permanent illness ecosystem.
So wash your hands, wear a mask if youâre ill and canât stay home (but try to stay home thatâs for the best), and keep on top of your Covid boosters. Itâs also not a bad idea to carry wet wipes for high-touch areas, because people are fucking gross.
As far as I know there has not been a single confirmed case of infection via a surface yet. Washing hands and using wet wipes will help you against all other kinds of germs, bacteria and whatnot, but COVID is AIRBORNE. That's how infections happen. Not even social distancing will help you with this (unless you want to keep a minimum of 5 meters away from everybody).
Only wearing masks will help. Whenever you are indoors with other people, especially in crowded, poorly ventilated spaces. Well-fitting (as in welded to your face) N95 or KN95 masks (FFP2/FFP3). Everywhere. All the time. No exceptions.
And keep testing, if you can. Three times a week would be ideal. At the very least when you feel even just the tiniest bit of symptoms. And not just once, but five days in a row.
And protect your old and vulnerable because this virus kills them first and foremost. When you plan a visit with your elderly parents or grandparents, start wearing masks five days before and reduce contacts. Test before the visit. Meet outdoors, if possible. At least keep times indoors to a minimum. Open windows, keep indoor spaces ventilated.
Don't fall for the narrative that COVID is "just a cold" now. It isn't.

Analysis: Ageism and the pandemic: How Canada continues to let older adults suffer and die from COVID-19 â Brighter World

Swap out Canada for any country in the Western World - for your country - and the situation is the same everywhere.
That's the ugly truth about western societies that the pandemic had brought into stark light: younger people don't give a fuck if older people die years before their time, as long as they can go to the next party. That includes every single one of you that isn't masking anymore and taking other precautions.
But here's a little nugget of truth: you'll be old once, too.
