Destiny Exotic Lore: Bad Juju
Bad Juju was one of the many personal inventions of the once esteemed Warlock Toland, the Shattered. Like the Shadow Price auto rifle and (supposedly) the Murmur fusion rifle, Bad Juju is well known for its destructive ability. However, unlike either of the two weapons stated above, this weapon seems to have some kind of semi-sentient lust for death and destruction. The frame of the weapon is that of a stripped and modified scout rifle most likely used by Toland during his career with the Vanguard. Attached to the frame are suspicious looking bones that seem to emanate Darkness, adding to the destructive capabilities of the weapon. Although the origin of the bones is not known, several who research Toland’s descent into madness (at great risk to their reputations and careers) assert that these bones were relics on an unborn Ahamkara exterminated by the Great Hunt. This would explain its seemingly supernatural capabilities. Additionally, Toland sealed suspicious looking runes into the side of the weapon. The primary function of the runes binds the bones to the frame and provides power to the weapon itself from some unknown source, however they also appear to remove the firing limiter on the action, allowing for full auto fire, and provide a stream of super energy to user after killing targets with the weapon. This weapon is one of many on the Vanguard’s “watch list”: Guardians who are known to use this weapon are observed carefully whenever possible (in the Crucible, etc.) in order to prevent any incidents like the birth of Dregen Yor. So far, nothing has been observed, but some say that it is the weapon itself that should be watched carefully, not necessarily the Guardians who use it.
Trivia:
The frame of this weapon is actually a scout rifle frame of the kind used by Saterrienne Rapier and Crusader I.
The triangular symbols present on the weapon’s frame can also be seen on the ironsights for Thorn.
