ohhhh now here’s a shot I’ve been patiently waiting to gif for agesssss 😭 I just adore absolutely everything about it

the casual way Neytiri bounces Neteyam as she just goes about her day. The baby sling. Neteyam’s little tail all curled up against his body. Jake cradling Kiri in the background and stroking her hair with this thumb. It’s so intimate yet so casual at the same time, give me more of this please, just give me three hours of normal everyday moments of Jake and Neytiri raising their little ones please I need it 😭😭😭

on a side note, I know the visual dictionary claims that Neteyam is 15 while Kiri and Lo’ak are both 14, thus implying that Kiri is closer to Lo’ak’s age than to Neteyam’s, but uh…..no I don’t buy that. Not for one moment, based on the shots we actually see in the movie. like just LOOK at those two. ain’t no WAY they’re 6+ months apart, no way. I’d give it maybe a one month gap, tops. For all intents and purposes, they’re twins.

I know the voice over makes it seem like this is Neteyam, but that can’t be. It’s gotta be Kiri in Lo'ak here. Neteyam was this size already when Grace’s avatar was still pregnant.

I assure you it’s Neteyam, look at the stripe + sanhì patterns on his forehead:

and he is in fact smaller in the scene with Grace’s avatar (in fact, I think this may actually be the youngest we see him, even more so than his little naming ceremony thing…but it’s hard to tell for sure):

Well, of course he is smaller here. That’s before Kiri’s birth. But he cannot still be the same size as her in the campfire scene. That would make no sense at all.

You can make out neither the full stripe nor the sanhì patterns due to the lighting and the fact that the baby is half obscured by Neytiri’s arm.

The Visual Dictionary is canon, as far as anybody knows. So if the VD says Neteyam is a year older than Kiri, then this cannot be Neteyam. It’s gotta be Lo'ak.

If it’s right before Kiri’s birth and right after Neteyam’s, it is plenty possible for them to still be about the same size.

You can’t see everything in that screencap, but you can see more than enough. Neteyam and Lo’ak both have very distinctive patterns. I’ll highlight it:

That baby is 100000% Neteyam.

The visual dictionary is mostly canon, yes, but sources like that have been known to make small mistakes. If there are instances where the visual dictionary etc. contradict what’s actually in the movie, the movie supersedes it.
