Rest in Peace, Mr. Nimoy.
Leonard Nimoy passed away today at 83.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends in this very difficult time.
His inspirational work acting as Mr. Spock is sure to live on, as the passion and truth he brought to the screen is not easily forgotten.
He gave us amazing stories, made us laugh, cry, and smile, and we are all eternally grateful for what he taught us.
Rest in peace, Leonard Nimoy.
You’re on to the next adventure.

Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock on the original Star Trek series, died today. Nimoy invented the Vulcan salute himself. He was inspired by the Jewish Priestly Blessing he had seen at an Orthodox synagogue.

Winter in Iowa was very different from winter in San Francisco. While the city did have some cooler weather, Iowa had snow. While the ship was in for  normal pre-mission inspection, Jim had decided to visit the place he had once called home. His mother and step-father had moved out a while back and he wanted to see if there was anything left. Considering what his childhood had been like, this wouldn’t be the easiest of tasks. Thankfully, a few of his crew members, his family, had decided to accompany him.Â
Bundled warmly in boots, coat, and gloves, Jim trudged through the freshly fallen snow with Uhura just ahead of him. Blue eyes moved to the snow at his feet, then up to his friend, then back down again. A slow smirk pulled it’s way onto his lips as he crouched in the snow. Quietly, he gathered a handful of snow and formed it into a ball. Once he was on his feet, the snow was launched, aimed for the middle of Nyota’s back.Â

Growing up in Southeastern Africa, snow was practically a foreign term to the folk there. The Winter's in the dry, sandy desert was close to how Summer's were here in Iowa. Nyota was relieved to have a few days off her beloved Starship in replacement for some fresh, crisp air. What she hadn't expected, however, was the flat land of Iowa draped in inches of snow. The clothes Jim provided looked warm, but with her low tolerance for the cold she shivered lightly as they explored and admired winter's beauty.
Without any warning, Nyota jumped at the snowball's impact, stray flakes getting into the ends of her long ponytail. Whipping around quickly, she gave Jim a mischievous smirk.
"Gotta do better than that." She quipped, scooping up a handful of snow in one smooth motion and hurled it at his chest.

"Are you okay?" She inquired, frowning slightly as her gaze flickered to the radio adjacent to him. "Not into Christmas music?" //hi :D
"I’ve never really listened to it before." Levi replied with a shrug, looking up to meet the woman’s gaze. She had a soft face and gave off a warm, comforting presence.
"This is the first Christmas I’ve ever had. I don’t really know much about celebrating it at all."

Nyota's brows lifted a bit in surprise and felt a pang of sympathy for the young man. She may not be overzealous about Christmas as much as the rest of her family, but to not know anything about celebrating it wasn't something that she could ever imagine. Her frown deepened for a moment before clearing her throat.
"Well, Christmas music is something a lot of people listen to so they can get into the spirit." She said, crossing her arms softly in front of her. "Baking cookies is one of my personal favorites though. Nothing says 'Christmas' more than a Santa-shaped sugar cookie." She smiled warmly.
