I mean really...life can be a lot to handle. Sometimes you meet people along the way that make it easier to handle. And sometimes you meet people who create obstacles to your happiness. It is time for us to really start to appreciate the genuine people and strive to make sure you are genuine yourself. Don't become a victim of circumstance and perception. If you don't really know someone, don't speculate. Even those who love people, can find themselves as a loner or seek and enjoy solitude. It’s a stretch to get out of your comfort zone and really consistently hang with people. Usually loners are not a really good judge of another's character, so sometimes they’ve chosen wrong in relationships and friendships and been sorry. Sometimes they talk too much and share too much striving to create a hurried intimacy. And sometimes they’ve been so shelled and walled in; they are just seen as a mystery no one could ever understand. In the end, none of that works. Honestly, even if you don't know what else to do, keep trucking. Do the best you can. One thing that is constant is change. With prayer, and will power you can become the individual you strive to become. With one listening ear, you can gain strength, power, and motivation. With one opportunity, you can achieve something you never before thought you were capable of. With your love, you can change the world. Sometimes you can’t tell everyone your business trying to make everyone your friend. But also, you can’t tell everyone else’s business trying to make friends. You will know you have found your true friends when you don’t have to think of things to say (Words come naturally and joy comes easily.) Patience is the best virtue to have. Faith is necessary to practice patience. Growth is necessary to be dynamic. And love covers a multitude of your faults, fears, transgressions, and ignorance. Sometimes you just have to make a choice, any choice and you can't choose wrong (a wise friend one said), take a leap of faith and do what you feel is right.
Ophelia B
Law, not confusion, is the dominating principle in the universe; justice, not injustice, is the soul and substance of life; and righteousness, not corruption, is the moulding and moving force in the spiritual government of the world. This being so, man has but to right himself to find that the universe is right; and during the process of putting himself right he will find that as he alters his thoughts towards things and other people, things and other people will alter towards him.

Ophelia Brown's Confessions Live (by Ophelia Brown)
Special Night of Fun!
Mother Ship
Mother lives inside of me, like an ancient ship sailed out to sea searching for a part of me that lived only in She trying to love the way she did and be more innocent than the things I’ve kept hid.
Confessions, excerpt from Celebrating Myself in Ophelia Brown's "How to Quench a Thirst Born in the Wilderness"
Communion
It flowed in perpetual beads of pearl Like heaven’s white capped oceans A vision of true communion My mouth opened north, Tongue anxious to receive the morning’s dew Legs knelt to the ground Knee pulling the threads Of my white hemline But even in paradise . . . Numb lips bend like limbs The vision shatters Like a chalice thrown in anger As sweet wine turns bitter, Feet turn eastward, Eyes turn grey And I ask, “Is this all there is?”
Self-Determination
I do not know my own power, nor strength I am afraid of my self-determination leading me outside the parameters that others have set for me And to know who I am positively, without wavering Is something that remains to be seen If only I could make up my mind to live even more so without convention and realize my eclecticism should be viewed as a gift and not a hindrance to share with others Even as I speak, I am growing and my arms are budding and burgeoning branches that will withstand the winds of judgment I am crossing the chasm between mediocrity and sensationalism I am believing and consuming the idea that I am as flavorful as ice-cream and as justified in my own beauty as a hawk soaring in the horizon I am determined to be self-determined to look at my failures as stepping stones on the path to righteousness I am beautiful in my own right and my beliefs that I cried in the middle of the night are beliefs that should be shared with others and in doing so, I will become who I am Supposed to be, eternally me!
Open Scroll
I remember a life Where I was your Open scroll And you my pen, And you had me opened And you let me give you commands And you loved my presence And you read me day and night And we birthed lyrical beauty And light. My thumbs firmly on your forehead, Calming your fears, Because I was proud of you. Do you remember finding joy Between the fibers of my soul?
