K-Music And Black Women: I first want to thank you for taking the time out of your busy life to do this Q&A slash interview with me and the lovely K-Music Fam. This isn’t your typical every day interview but let’s do it. I’m going to call you “Him” in the interview since I can’t say your name or would like for me to call you something else? Is “Him” Ok?
Him: Hi I am ‘Him’ it’s nice to meet you. WAIT! They can’t hear me. Can they hear me?
KMBW: Oh No, they won’t hear you, remember this interview is going to be text only, no video, no audio.
Him: Ohhh I see, Ok let’s do it.
KMBW: So my first question to you, What do you think about this whole K-Music And Black Women thing I got going on out here?
Him: You want me to be honest, honest, honest. honest. honest?
KMBW: Yes please 100%.
Him: Ok, here it goes..I like it! I like it a lot. I honestly do. I think it’s different, I think it’s fun, I think it’s cute, I also think your videos are funny and entertaining. It’s nice to have something like this for Black fans that like K-Pop to show that not all Asians are racist and that they love all of their fans no matter what race especially with seeing how Black people are treated out there it’s good for them to see that not every one is out to get them, judge them or dislike them for the color of their skin. We love you too!
KMBW: Aw that was sweet, thank you.
Him: Just being honest here.
KMBW: So you didn’t find this whole thing that I do weird or crazy not even a little bit? A little thought?
Him: No no no not at all I promise.
KMBW: IF you were a K-Pop idol, What would you think about K-Music And Black Women?
Him: Idols love all of their fans, right? So I would love you all just the same and it’s cute to see Black girls get happy over their idols. Race doesn’t matter, I wouldn’t hate you or treat you any different just because you are Black.
KMBW: Do you even listen to K-Pop?
Him: (laughs) Yes! DUH!
KMBW: So I’ve had Black girls in the past so upset about my videos to the point where they make angry rant videos..that I never watched by the way. What do you think about other Black girls not liking what I do?
Him: Really? Maybe because I’m a guy but I have a different point of view from all of it, especially being Asian myself, I truly like it, I think it’s just fans having fun and enjoying the people that they love attention and if, make sure you put that in bold if you can.
(laughing)
KMBW: Stop.
Him: and if, bold that too. I was an idol…I would think it’s sooo cool to be appreciated from my fans of different races from all over the world no matter how it’s portrayed it’s no big deal to me. I don’t know if I said the same thing earlier or not so I hope I sound genuine when I say these things.
KMBW: You do.
KMBW: So on the topic of my videos. I get girls that say, “It’s not like they’re ever going to marry Black women or mary y’all anyway”. As an Asian guy that’s been around the scene plenty of times, what do you think about them saying shit..I mean stuff like that?
Him: But why would they say that?
KMBW: I know. I know. That isn’t even half of it.
Him: To answer your question yes! I mean I got friends and friends of friends that like Black girls but we live in South Korea so It is obvious that a lot of us will marry KOREAN girls it’s not like we say, “Hey I like Black girls but you know what I will settle with a Korean girl instead.” No it’s because we don’t see Black girls here but when we do we are either working and don’t have time to stop and talk or scared to say something because they may not like us back or like Asian guys like that and I can’t go up to a Black girl I see and be like, “Hey! let’s go on a date some day” that easy. Most of us are shy and just stare and be like “wow, she’s hot/beautiful this and that,” and also not all of us are fluent in English so can you imagine us going up to a foreign girl we like and stuttering embarrassing ourselves, if it was that easy a lot of us would love to not only date Black girls but also marry. A lot of us would love to date outside of our race in general if you want me to be completely honest with you. Korean girls are beautiful too don’t get me wrong but a lot of us want to see what else is out there in the world.
KMBW: True. I’ve seen Korean men say they would date/marry Black women but there’s none here (in South Korea).
Him: Exactly. Well there’s some here for work, school, business, but not many.
KMBW: So on the topic of dating. Have you seen..well OR heard of any K-Pop idols date Black girls?
Him: (laughs) You are just getting right to it aren’t you?
KMBW: (laughs) Yes! give the people what they want!
Him: Yes
KMBW: That’s it just yes? You’re anonymous so you can say what you want I’m all ears.
Him: Ok, so…I’ve HEARD, put that in bold.
(laughing)
KMBW: Ok
Him: So yes I’ve HEARD about some idols not many, but not only K-Pop idols but like rappers you know? And mostly rappers, singers that are not K-Pop idols ..They have been with Black fans before that they met overseas and some met here in Korea, not even just fans but Black girls in general, they meet in clubs or on the girl’s job, some here for work and school and some come here to teach some just run into them and say hey I’m a fan and then they talk to each other for a while and then go back to their place things like that. They gotten phone numbers of fans they were attracted to. Some didn’t last long because they live in Korea and are busy and the girl would live like in Canada or America something like that. The rappers have it easier because they are not “idols” and can do what ever they want to do and idols have to be more..what’s the word I’m looking for..um?
KMBW: Careful? Secretive?
Him: Yeah! secret.
KMBW: So what you are saying is that SOME of them, mostly the rappers and singers have gotten with some Black fans? So even here in America?
Him: Yeah yeah that’s like the favorite place, they always talk about how cool Americans are. I think because the people they look up to are mostly African American rappers and singers and they like the styles of the women like the skin, clothing, hair of Black women.
KMBW: On to the next question. Do you get a, “Black girls having a fetish for Asian men” vibe from all of this (K-Music and Black Women)?
Him: In what way exactly?
KMBW: Like, for example having a race fetish means you only want a certain race for a sexual fetish. You will only sleep with them or only date them but will never want to marry them, you know…just using them for your pleasure and nothing more. That’s what some people think of us K-Pop fans as well as K-Music And Black Women. They also say it’s when you only want someone because they are Asian but that’s more of a type/preference not what a fetish is, it’s what I said before this.
Him: (laughs) Not at all and it sounds funny to look at what you do and have that word to even be on my mind, it doesn’t match. And what’s wrong with only want to be with someone because you have a preference for their race? If you’re only attracted to Asian men, then so what? If you’re only attracted to Black men so what? If you only date Mexican men because that’s who you’re attracted to the most…then, SO WHAT?! I didn’t know that was a big deal? Learn something new today I guess.
KMBW: What do you think of K-Pop having a lot of Black fans around the world and being attracted to Asians?
Him: I love it! I really do, I think it’s such an honor to have other races appreciate your race, your culture, your music and being attracted to us that’s a compliment.
KMBW: Do you think Korean parents are against Black women marrying their sons? You might get this type of question again later.
Him: The traditional older parents can be like that, SOME of them can be like that but these days they don’t care as long as she is a good person I have seen some parents try to get their sons and daughters together with Black foreigners here like right on the street, (in Korean accent) “Are you single? I have daughter.” (laughs) I think it’s nice.
KMBW: Do you think a K-Pop idol would ever date a Black girl? Or better yet a Black Fangirl?
Him: Yes to both. Why not? They have any way right? So they would do it again and again if they like her and I personally would especially if it was easier for us to meet them in Korea. A lot of them (idols) date privately any way right? So what’s the harm in dating a Black fan? If you like some one, you like some one.If it’s private dating you can date more comfortably so people won’t be harsh but I would show her off like, “YAH THIS MY GIRL!! HATE IF YOU WANT!”
KMBW: Aw that’s sweet.
Him: Oh yeah I would for sure and I’m sure some of them would. As men when we connect with a girl there’s nothing coming between that. If we like a girl no matter what race and attracted to her, anything is possible so along with that you will end up dating. Do they think we are all racist or something?
KMBW: I mean I do see people say, “All Koreans are racist”, “They do not like you Black girls like that” ya know sweet, kind things like that.
Him: Since when do people speak for all of us? Because I’m not close to being a racist and I’m raised in South Korea. Not all Americans are racist right?
KMBW: Right.
KMBW: So have you ever heard of “Koreaboo”?
Him: The K-Pop website?
KMBW: No.
Him: Oh, well not really. Sounds familiar. Yes and no.
KMBW: It’s when you “want to be Korean”, obsessed with Koreans and everything Korean. And I also think when they use Korean words in their language a lot like “oppa” stuff like that.
Him: What’s wrong with that?
(laughing)
KMBW: K-pop fans use it as an insult these days like, “Ugh here comes the Koreaboos”. “Ugh she’s such a fucking Koreaboo”, “You’re acting like a Koreaboo” “Koreaboos this and that”, they’re always bitching about “Koreaboos” It’s over used! I don’t pay attention to whose a Koreaboo or not, I don’t care what people do or who they want to be or how they speak as long as they’re not hurting anyone, it’s not that serious to me but people call us “Koreaboos” for liking Asian men and K-Pop.
Him: What’s wrong with that?
KMBW: Would you consider us “Koreaboos” just because we like the music and we are attracted to Asians?
Him: …Umm..No but at the same time why use it as an insult? Hey they love us that much and want to be us and use our slang, what’s so bad about that? I don’t get it. I don’t know maybe it’s just me?
KMBW: There’s also a “N*ggaboo”, I’ve seen them call idols that act a certain way get called that.
Him: Stupid.
KMBW: Ok so if you had one pick up line to say to a Black girl and think it would work. What would you say?
Him: Did it hurt when you fell from the vending machine? Because you’re a snack.
(laughs)
KMBW: I can’t!
Him: I’m joking! I’m joking!
KMBW :I asked my lovelies K-Music Fam on my instagram story to give me questions to ask you and I got a lot! Some nasty ones too but I skipped those.

Him: I probably would just stare at her and over think if she would even be interested in me but also I might approach her and just have small talk and make her laugh with a cheesy pick up line like, “Do you have a pencil? Cause I want to erase your past and write our future.”
