“No, but thank you, Sir”, she declined the offer for a drink. It was always best to have a clear head during such appointments and after all Mr. Malfoy had chosen the same.

Actually Christina hadn’t expected that much attention. Then again, due to the nature of this conversation the Muggle leader wanted to be sure who sat in front of him. Of course there was always the option to wait outside until she was called.

“I have been working for him for nearly three years now.“

Merlin! That last question…

“As for the latter, I have always believed Mr. Malfoy to be the right choice for the Minister of the Wizarding World. So I do appreciate the chance to assist him with any tasks he entrusts me with. It can be difficult to discern who is trustworthy. Much stands and falls with loyalty. And yes, you could definitely say I truly value my position.”

A smirk came from the teenager. ‘’All the more for me,’’ he joked, as he took a small sip from his glass. 

‘‘Good answer, Miss Wolfe– some of my best employees can attest to such a response as well,’‘ Stewie said, as he eyed the platinum blonde. “He clearly has a gift with choosing the correct employees it seems.’‘ 

Lucius tch’ed, nodding. ‘’With my family’s status and power within the Wizarding World, one does have to be careful… lest they get stabbed in the back.’’ 

The leader chuckled. ‘’Right– Well, back onto topic–’’ He leaned closer to the two after digging out some documents. ‘’I do  have some ways of manipulating things to go our way with the position of the Minister… I can execute plans to kill or disrupt certain wizarding famiilies, by taking them off guard… to put certain pressures on the current Minister, of course.’’ 

Lucius tilted his head. He didn’t particularly like murder– but for the greater good… He sighed, acknowledgement flashing in his eyes. ‘’Right… do what you need to,’’ he stated, now pausing to take a glance at Christina. ‘’Miss Wolfe, give him the objects he’d need to keep on himself to protect him from magick, at least, for the most part.” 

Stewie’s eyes flickered up at that. ‘’Meaning?’’

‘‘Protects you from majority of spells, but not all. Mostly from the basic sort of spells.’’

At his words, her inner tension ceased a little.

This job gave her opportunities that were otherwise hard or even impossible to gain. The wizard she worked for tended to know what it was he expected and was very clear about it. It was obvious his reputation was extremely mixed, nevertheless it was impossible to please everyone.

“Of course, Sir.” She nodded at Mr. Malfoy before turning back to the younger man respectfully. “If I may?”

She slowly reached for her bag and carefully took each item out one by one to place them neatly on his desk.

The brunette figured that he would rather take a good look at them first before actually considering of using any of them. Especially when it came to items of the Wizarding World, it was best to remain cautious. Something could always be jinxed, cursed or poisoned. Nobody was willing to take such a risk, unless they were careless. Neither of them could afford any such behavior.

“Thank you.” She smiled warmly. “Please know it is definitely mutual and I’m glad we have the chance to do something for him.”

Whatever they would experience, they had to be on their guard. It was good to be prepared. Horrible to imagine to walk in somewhere without having a single clue of what was going on behind those doors.

Shouldn’t you feel safe in these places?

Then again, everyone could have an agenda the others were not aware of. Very often it was too late when someone realized the terrible truth before they met their end.

Stewie smirked, now leading the way out of the room, keeping his hands together behind his back. At least he had numerous weapons hidden on himself for when they’d get there– just in case. It was a typical thing for him ever since he was just an infant– 

One couldn’t be too careful in this crazy, crazy world. 

‘‘Follow me, it should be ready by now, my men are typically very quick…’‘ And for good reason. The teenager was quite violent afterall. 

Just as he had predicted, their ride was ready. ‘’THAT is a helicopter, Miss Wolfe… Or should I simply call you ‘Christina’, since it has been awhile now?’’

“Yes, Sir.” Miss Wolfe kept up her pace with his. There really wasn’t any more time to lose. The sooner they got there, the better. “Oh my.” She looked at the construction with a mixture of awe and curiosity. Muggles really had the weirdest inventions. Peculiar it was able to transport somebody to another destination. Compared to some devices even an enormous dragon would have looked more in place. At least dragons moved on their own.

“Of course, you are welcome to do so.” It had been indeed and she didn’t mind that at all. After all they would probably spend much more time together in the future if everything went well for all of them.

Old buildings had a lot of history in itself, no matter what people might have moved in later or whether there was an entirely new structure built on top of it.

Glad she was able to accompany him, she wondered what a helicopter was. It was obviously a Muggle invention. What else? But she would see in a few minutes for sure.

“I really appreciate you doing this, Mr. Griffin”, she said gratefully. “We probably wouldn’t have been able to get that precise information in comparison to your sources.”

It really didn’t hurt to have a witch on his side either, now did it? Especially to his visit to that hellhole. Stewie rubbed at his face. ‘’Bloody hell, I already need a drink…’’ he murmurred, remembering all of a sudden there WAS thankfully alcohol on the helicopter, so he could attempt to relax some during their trip. 

He nodded. ‘’You two are very valuable to me, so far. It’s the least I can do,’’ he sincerely said, locking eyes with her.

Oh my. Someone appeared to be in a particular mood - today? Of course she never met him, so she couldn’t really know how he usually behaved. Tamper tantrums existed in their world as well, so it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary to hear bad language. Miss Wolfe was here to assist Mr. Malfoy by any means necessary. That involved not speaking out of turn too. It wasn’t her who had been invited here, so she gave a polite smile and nod to Mr. Griffin before she settled in her seat.

It was obvious that very moment that two powerful, ambitious men were present in this room. Whatever was spoken, she would keep confidential as it was required. Otherwise she should have chosen another job.

‘‘Tch.’‘ The meaning of the word didn’t go unnoticed with him, due to his research into the Wizarding World itself.

It wasn’t long after that, a new glass had been supplied to the teenager, one of liquor. Stewie took a small sip. ‘’Where’s my manners? Would you either like a glass?’’ 

Lucius hummed. “Not at the moment, no,’’ he answered. 

He motioned to Christina, ‘’You?’’ 

He shifted a bit in his seat. ‘’Christina Wolfe, your assistant, correct?’’ 

Lucius tilted his head. ‘’Yes, just so I can have things organized and such. Doesn’t hurt to have someone close, at least somewhat, if things go south.’’ 

Stewie chuckled. ‘’Yes, I can sympathize… I have my own bodyguard, who you saw outside, on the way inside.’’ He pointed out, now shifting his attention back to Christina. ‘’So Miss Wolfe, when did you start working for Mr. Malfoy here? What do you gain from working with him?’’

She remained standing entranced, now with a dreamy smile on her face. Everything was forgotten. Her father who was also at home. Her vacation. Whatever usually occupied her mind.

To her he wasn’t an intruder or a danger. She didn’t even care from where the voice had come in the first place. Important was that it was there. Guiding her. Never would she not want to accompany him to his home. This was all so… exciting. Christina remembered that she was supposed to stay quiet, so she only gave a nod in response. Prepared to do what he asked of her.

Everything was so easy. No disrupting thoughts about what not. There was nothing to worry. Just obey!

Lucius looked around for a bit for a quill and some parchment, quickly scratching a note for her father, as he slapped it onto the kitchen counter for him to read in his own time. With that quickly done… 

‘‘Let’s go,’‘ he stated, as he grabbed onto her with his free hand, now poofing. 

Instantly, they re-appeared before Malfoy Manor, and he let her go, confident she’d follow with no problem at all. He went through his Gates, up to the front entrance, and easily enough slipped inside. Once there, he carefully hurried to keep out of sight of Narcissa, since she had no business with this. 

It wasn’t long, but he showed Christina into a room with a smirk. 

‘‘Hello, Ms. Wolfe,’‘ he said, making sure he casted wards around the room, so she couldn’t escape. He also turned around and disarmed her of her wand.

She accompanied him without question. Followed him wherever he led. Not focusing on her new surroundings at all. They weren’t interesting somehow. Not interesting enough compared to him.

That changed, however, the moment she came back to her senses.

“What-?”, she exclaimed in confusion. Then a small shriek as she felt her wand fly away from her, causing her to make a few small steps back. Staring at the blonde wide eyed, she had no idea what this was all about.

“He told me that he was having an important business to attend to”, she explained, trying to remain professional despite her own worry about the wizard. “In case he should not return, Mr. Malfoy asked me to come directly to you.”

“To give you this note.” Instead of her bag, she would have to look through, Miss Wolfe had placed the envelope in one of her spacious robe pockets. Slowly she took it out, so there wasn’t any need for the young man to be alarmed about a doublecross or something else. Hopefully.

Stewie narrowed his eyes, pushing away his plate, which he had been almost done with the food anyways. He kept his eyes sharp on her– though for the most part, he could trust her, since she worked for the Malfoy. 

But he’s a lot like me…. Very cunning. 

He took the note, now reading it, then groaned. ‘’Fucking hell,’’ he swore, pinching the bridge of his nose. ‘’The moron’s got himself in deep– he was wise enough to send a bloody note, at least.’’ The teenager sounded downright pissed. ‘’I don’t suppose you’ve heard of the ‘Volmer Institute’? It’s a place where they seem to keep patients indefinitely– we’ve got to get him out of there, or he’s, let’s say, completely fucked.’’

He sighed angrily, now flicking out his switchblade and suddenly playing with it, giving an air of nervousness.

‘‘Volmer’s– the owner– is a cunning bastard; well, he doesn’t fool Stewart Gilligan Griffin.’‘

Her hands folded in front of her, Christina watched his reaction, suppressing a flinch at the words he used about her boss. From what Mr. Griffin said it must have truly been serious.

“I haven’t heard of it, no”, she responded in all honesty. “If there is something I can do, I’d do anything in my power to help get him back.”

The thought of never leaving patients was rather concerning. After all everyone preferred to return to their home as soon as they were recovered. Of course there were other cases, too, but from what she just heard, it appeared to have been for an entirely different reason.

“Its a place that goes way back as well. About 200 years. They had since well rebuilt it after a fire.”

Stewie shifted his vision over to one of his men, and “ asked, "Sir?”

“Ready a helicopter, I’d rather not tire Miss Wolfe out from her powers.” They knew better to ask what he meant by that.

“Right away, sir,” they said, now hurrying along to prepare such a thing.

“I promise you, Miss Wolfe, we’ll get Lucius back in one piece. For the sake of both of us.”

Christina was eager to visit the States. Sometimes, even though you probably had the options, you just didn’t travel anywhere farther than your home country. There was so much to see, but often you stuck with what you knew. Along with family, friends, your job… The grounds looked extraordinarily fancy. The moment the men took away their weapons was kind of relieving. Not that she wasn’t familiar with raised wands, but it was a different situation. After all it was unfamiliar territory.

Politely she nodded at the guards and followed them alongside Mr. Malfoy.

‘‘Bloody hell–’‘ 

A foul mouthed certain teenager could be heard up ahead, the closer they got to Stewie’s office. ‘’I WANTED liquor, not wine!’’ He protested. 

‘‘Right away, s-sir,’‘ someone nervously said, before passing the escorting guard and the two magickal folk. Lucius lifted an eyebrow. Good thing he’s not Draco with that foul mouth… 

Stewie realigned his cold view onto the two, adjusting his tie slightly as they came into the room. ‘’Apologies, I get frustrated at times with my men– Sometimes not at the best times.’’ 

‘‘Understandable.’‘ Lucius remarked, with an equally cold look. 

‘‘Yes, let’s all sit–’‘ He motioned to two chairs before his desk, as he pushed away his glass of wine off to the side, which someone stepped forward and took. ‘‘Well. I’m sure you know why you’re here today… so I can maintain a balance with the wizarding world.’‘ 

Lucius nodded, as he set his cane against the desk’s edge. ‘’That’s correct.” 

‘‘I’ve chosen you, Mr. Malfoy, because you seem much like me, in a sense. You’re cunning, intelligent, and will do whatever it takes to get what you want out of life.’‘ 

Lucius smirked. ‘’For a Muggle, you’re surprisingly intelligent.’’

She gave him a respectful nod, then closed the office door behind her to keep unwanted listeners out as usual.

Listening to the instructions for their trip to Rhode Island, she made a mental note about the procedure. Not that it was hard to remember. Actually fairly easy as the witch certainly didn’t have any interest in getting shot.

“I will keep that in mind, Sir. Thank you. I am ready for departure when you are.”

Lucius gathered up his required papers, before going over to her and placing a hand on her shoulder. ‘’Off to America,’’ he stated, almost excited. 

Reappearing, Lucius’s vision swept over vast gardens and a large Estate standing before him, much more in the modern style than his own. ‘’Wow,’’ he muttered, eyes now sweeping over towards the guards off to the side of them, which one had approached, ‘’Who are you?” They asked sharply, a serious expression on their face. 

‘‘I am Lucius Malfoy, we have business with Mr. Griffin.’‘ 

They smirked. ‘’Ah, he was expecting you about now, I’ll lead the way.’’ They stowed away their gun, now leading the way.

“Hello Christina”, a familiar colleague greeted her on her way to Malfoy’s office. “How are you?”

“I’m quite well, thank you”, she smiled friendly at her. “How about you?”

“Can’t complain at the moment”, was the answer. “Unfortunately the husband has come down with a fever.”

“Oh no, please send my regards”, Christina said. “Listen, I will leave for a meeting in a few moments, but hope to catch you next time. All the best for the two of you.“

“Of course, dear”, she waved. “Thanks. For you too.”

The assistant thanked her, approching the door. She was still on time and had her enchanted purse with her, so everything was at hand when needed during the meeting. Knocking twice against the wooden door, she politely waited for his go ahead to enter.

Lucius finally looked up, from examining some documents he had on his desk, rereading some things on the Muggle Ruler of the world. 

‘‘Come in,’‘ he called. He straightened up before she would. 

‘‘Mr. Griffin expects us to be in Rhode Island, promptly… He did say we should be able to arrive on his Manor grounds relatively okay, just explaining that we are there to see him to any guards or employees that may come across our path,’‘ he explained to her.

Stewie sat there, blinking, confusion deep into his face, trying to comprehend what she had just said. 

‘‘….What do you mean Lucius is in trouble?’‘

Christina eyed herself in the mirror, checking if something had to be changed before she accompanied her new boss to meet Stewart Griffin who actually became leader of the Muggle world at such a young age. Nobody would have expected that, but sometimes age taught you less about someone than you could have imagined.

While the witch preferred to wear her long, brunette hair open in private, on the job she always chose a bun variant.

Straightening her robes, she walked into the corridor, towards Mr. Malfoy’s office.

Lucius smoothed down his robes, making sure not even a fleck of dust was on them– I’ll have to look my best for him… His mouth twisted into a grimace of disgust. Granted, it was a Muggle boy, but they seemed to have a lot in common, strangely enough. 

And best not to get on his bad side either…. 

The platinum blonde had done his research on the boy aplenty, and it wouldn’t be wise to doublecross the boy. As long as his family was safe; that was his first priority as always. 

The wizard wouldn’t dare admit it, but he was IMPRESSED by the pure, raw ambition in this Stewart boy. He fixed his cuffs, and grabbed his cane. They’d be leaving here shortly…

She flinched in surprise, wondering for a very short moment what it was, but she didn’t even get to turn around.

Her eyes became soft. Muscles relaxing as it was so peaceful all of a sudden. Whoever spoke, this voice was the most captivating she had heard in her entire life.

She was enthralled. All she wanted to do was listen. Listen to whatever she was being told. And then do it…

A smirk slowly came across Lucius’s face. He truly did enjoy having such raw power over people, like this. 

Ah, why did this curse have to be Unforgivable? 

Lucius kept close to her ear, ‘’Now. You were going to keep close and link arms with me outside, as we apparate back to my home… and simply follow me upstairs.’’

~ A Trip To Gotham ~

Gotham City.

A place where a lot happened. Perhaps often a little bit too much.

She was glad it was only a sort of business trip she had accompanied her parents on. The hotel was lovely though and she enjoyed the privacy of her own room. The next meeting would be tomorrow at later noon, so there was plenty of time to mind her own business.

The woman wouldn’t really go on a sightseeing tour. That was far too risky. But she might get a drink at the hotel bar or go for a swim at some point.

Christina went on the little balcony they had added to the rooms to take a look around. Luckily the lights out here weren’t too bright. Then again, there was always the option to pull down the shutters. Not now though.

The ring of her phone distracted her. Obviously she had left it in the bathroom. With hasty steps she went to see who it was, forgetting instantly about the open door.

The floor wasn’t lit that brightly, but it didn’t have to be. After all she knew where everything was and there wasn’t any lost item she was looking for.

When she passed one of the small corridor tables, that one had a few animal figurines standing on them, she noticed one had fallen over, so she wanted to put it back up. She wasn’t in any rush anyway.

There it was.

The Death Eater sneaked out from his hiding spot, now casting one of his favorite spells to ever use– the Imperius Curse. Lucius straightened up a bit, though waiting until it fully took her over, so he could proceed with the next steps of his plan. 

She should be fine at Malfoy Manor.

He tossed a look over the rest of the house. As long as her father stayed where he would… everything would go according to plan. 

‘‘You’re going to remain quiet as I quietly give you orders.” He whispered, stepping close to her, talking right into her ear.

She flinched in surprise, wondering for a very short moment what it was, but she didn't even get to turn around.

Her eyes became soft. Muscles relaxing as it was so peaceful all of a sudden. Whoever spoke, this voice was the most captivating she had heard in her entire life.

She was enthralled. All she wanted to do was listen. Listen to whatever she was being told. And then do it...

Garret was busy with one of his translations while his wife Victoria was meeting with some friends as she did every week.

Their daughter Christina was in her room, probably writing an owl to her friend. Her work as a healer took much time, so she was looking forward to her vacation.

The atmosphere in his home office was more comfortable compared to buying or renting a place elsewhere. Here he had everything he needed. During good weather even a spot in the garden.

He really loved his work as translator. There was always something new to discover, so looking over books or runes didn't really feel like a chore. And if he already knew something, it brought him joy to share it with the world.

Pleased with his progress so far, he placed the finished page on the proper pile on his desk and drank some more of his tea.

Lucius flattened himself against the wall, as he watched come out of the room, as he carefully and slowly unstealthed his wand. He crept a bit closer, but still remained close to the wall, waiting for the opportune moment to strike.

The floor wasn't lit that brightly, but it didn't have to be. After all she knew where everything was and there wasn't any lost item she was looking for.

When she passed one of the small corridor tables, that one had a few animal figurines standing on them, she noticed one had fallen over, so she wanted to put it back up. She wasn't in any rush anyway.
