Bed, Wed Behead? Lucy, Dracula, Mina!
“I suppose if I had to choose, I would bed Mina, Wed Lucy because she’s marvelous, and behead that damned vampire”
Without a word, Renfield snatched the man up, grunting as he dragged him to the door. What a waste of a murder.
♥— “Why won’t you answer me?”
Lucy begins to cry, frightened by how different Renfield seems this evening. her thirst gnaws at her; whispering terrible things about what she could do with that body. Gritting her teeth, she fights those urges- it would be a Sin.
“P-please, Mister Renfield.. you’re scaring me..”
“I’m serving you. you don’t want the meal, I’ll dispose of it,” he muttered, pulling the door open and throwing the body out. He followed after it.
Renfield’s face fell and he glanced towards the man. “I just thought…..” he started, but didn’t bother finishing. “I’m sorry,” he said, hurrying to the door.
♥— “Please don’t leave me!”
Lucy looks panicked, and she wrings her hands, torn between descending upon the dead man for his blood and wanting to run away. She looks at Renfield, imploring.
“P-please.. if you leave, I’ll be all alone.. I don’t know how to get rid of a body!”
Without a word, Renfield snatched the man up, grunting as he dragged him to the door. What a waste of a murder.
He turned in the armchair to look at her, a darker expression than the night before on his face. “….I supplied your meal, Mistress,” he rasped and rose to his feet. With great effort, he hauled the man up into the chair. His throat was bruised from where Renfield had strangled him with his own belt after he didnt die from being stabbed. Renfield lowered his eyes to the blood on his hands. “Are you displeased, Mistress?” he asked in a whisper.
♥—
Lucy looks on in horror as Renfield pulls the dead man into her armchair. The look on his face was one of madness- she had seen it before on the faces of those who sought sanctuary at St. Mary’s when she was a child.
She takes a step back, suppressing her base desire to feed upon the corpse.
“I don’t.. I’m.. I’m not a killer,” she breathes, small tears filling the corners of her eyes.
Renfield’s face fell and he glanced towards the man. “I just thought.....” he started, but didn’t bother finishing. “I’m sorry,” he said, hurrying to the door.
The next evening, Renfield was sitting in the dark parlor, staring at the small fire he had lit in the fireplace. His hands were stained in blood, some spatters on his neck and face. The body of a large, gruff looking man lain at his feet as he sat in the chair.
♥— “What have you done?”
Lucy emerges from her room at sunset, freshly dressed for the night. She stares in simple shock at the scene in her parlor, the scent of blood gnawing at her hunger and making her fangs extend.
“What.. what did you do?”
He turned in the armchair to look at her, a darker expression than the night before on his face. “....I supplied your meal, Mistress,” he rasped and rose to his feet. With great effort, he hauled the man up into the chair. His throat was bruised from where Renfield had strangled him with his own belt after he didnt die from being stabbed. Renfield lowered his eyes to the blood on his hands. “Are you displeased, Mistress?” he asked in a whisper.
“I’ll be sure to have your next meal when you wake, Mistress” he whispered as he started to doze.
♥— “Rest well.”
Lucy tries not to think about her next meal as she climbs into her own bed. She had had all of the windows boarded over, and knew that she would be safe for the day. She watches him quietly for a while, falling silent and still as the sun rises.
The next evening, Renfield was sitting in the dark parlor, staring at the small fire he had lit in the fireplace. His hands were stained in blood, some spatters on his neck and face. The body of a large, gruff looking man lain at his feet as he sat in the chair.
Renfield shuddered at the feeling of her fingers in his hair, loving every second of it. He closed his eyes and settled deeper into the cushions. “You’re rather breathtaking, Mistress,” he mumbled.
♥— “I am nothing of the sort, but that is kind of you to say.”
Lucy leans down to press a chaste kiss to his temple before standing. Dawn was not far off, and she would need to seek the darkness.
“I shall need to sleep soon, but you are welcome to stay, if it is what you wish.”
“I’ll be sure to have your next meal when you wake, Mistress” he whispered as he started to doze.
“You’re my Mistress…..I like the title,” he said with a small laugh. “I’m quite alright….It’s much more bearable than the beatings Dracula administered…It’s my pleasure to serve you.”
♥— “I would never beat you, Mister Renfield.”
Lucy’s expression is one of soft concern as she leans over him, gentle fingers combing through his hair. She takes the cashmere blanket from the end of her own small bed, spreading it over him.
“If you like, you may stay and rest. You are safe here, I promise you that.”
Renfield shuddered at the feeling of her fingers in his hair, loving every second of it. He closed his eyes and settled deeper into the cushions. “You’re rather breathtaking, Mistress,” he mumbled.
He gave a breathy chuckle as he watched the room spin. “No….I’m alright, Mistress…..” he sighed and swallowed hard. “I assure you….” Looking down into her eyes, he gave her a weak smile in hopes of comforting her. “If there’s anything…anything else you’d wish me to do,…I’m at your beck and call”
♥— “Oh, please don’t call me Mistress, my name is Lucy.”
Giving him an apologetic smile, she helps him lie back into the soft cushions of the chaise lounge. She smoothes his hair and fixes his collar, worried she has hurt him.
“Just.. try to rest, alright? I’ll be right here, if you need anything..”
“You’re my Mistress.....I like the title,” he said with a small laugh. “I’m quite alright....It’s much more bearable than the beatings Dracula administered...It’s my pleasure to serve you.”
He let out a weak groan, his grip loosening on her. “Mistress,” he whimpered, close to losing consciousness. A gentle hand held the back of her neck as he gave her everything she wanted. “Please….” he managed, but even he didn’t know what he was pleading for. He wanted to serve her. Give her everything he could, but he’d hoped it would be more than just one service.
♥— “Oh, I’m so sorry..”
Lucy pulls away when he speaks against her ear, coming to her senses. She can feel how weak he is, and she supports him in her arms so that he does not fall over.
“Are you alright? I didn’t take too much, I hope..”
He gave a breathy chuckle as he watched the room spin. “No....I’m alright, Mistress.....” he sighed and swallowed hard. “I assure you....” Looking down into her eyes, he gave her a weak smile in hopes of comforting her. “If there’s anything...anything else you’d wish me to do,...I’m at your beck and call”
Renfield tilted his head, resting his hands on her sides. When she bit him, he cringed and took in a slow, shaky breath trying to stay still for her. Once her fangs were in, the pain seemed to dull and he sighed. “Mistress,” he breathed. “You may take as much as you please…..I would die to sate your appetite..”
♥—
Lucy makes a soft sound of enjoyment as she drinks, pulling their bodies close. She loses herself in the sound of his heart- his heat flowing down her throat. Cold fingers thread through his hair, needing him.
Every drop.
If he did not stop her, she would not be able to stop herself.
He let out a weak groan, his grip loosening on her. “Mistress,” he whimpered, close to losing consciousness. A gentle hand held the back of her neck as he gave her everything she wanted. “Please....” he managed, but even he didn’t know what he was pleading for. He wanted to serve her. Give her everything he could, but he’d hoped it would be more than just one service.
He faltered a bit at her tone, but unbuttoned his shirt a little to expose his neck more. “Would you like to drink from me, Mistress?” he asked softly.
♥— “Yes, yes I would..”
Lucy’s eyes are focused only upon that slow throb at the side of his neck as it is revealed. Drawing closer, she leans in, snaking one thin, cold arm around his shoulders as she gently sinks her fangs.
Renfield tilted his head, resting his hands on her sides. When she bit him, he cringed and took in a slow, shaky breath trying to stay still for her. Once her fangs were in, the pain seemed to dull and he sighed. “Mistress,” he breathed. “You may take as much as you please.....I would die to sate your appetite..”
“Of course I do,” he blurted before settling himself. “I mean, ah,….Of course, I do, Miss Lucy….I’d be even more of a mad man if I did not jump at the chance of….serving you.” He knew she had said that he shouldn’t serve anyone, but it had become such a huge part of him that it was a necessity to always be under someone’s rule. “…..And I could start now..I believe I’m correct in assuming that you’re…thirsty, Mistress?”
♥— “Then it is decided, Mister Renfield.”
Lucy smiles in a way that seems to suggest that she might blush, and she looks down at her hands. When he continues, however, it causes her to stiffen, her throat suddenly painfully dry at his offer.
Looking up slowly, she licks her lips.
“I am,” she says softly, feeling as though it is someone else speaking. “I am.. thirsty.”
He faltered a bit at her tone, but unbuttoned his shirt a little to expose his neck more. “Would you like to drink from me, Mistress?” he asked softly.
“Because if I fail, I’m doomed. I’m also far too loyal, but I’ve thought of running away quite often….And I’d much rather serve…someone like you, Miss Lucy,” he said, turning towards her. She wasn’t fooling him. She was thirsty. He’d seen that look from his Master often enough, though he usually fled before Dracula could bite him.
♥— “I could help you run away.”
Lucy suggests, having to tear her eyes away from the pulse at the side of his neck. She manages a wan smile, clasping her hands in her lap and bushing aside those base urges.
It would be rude to bite a guest.
“I mean.. ah, if you wanted..”
“Of course I do,” he blurted before settling himself. “I mean, ah,....Of course, I do, Miss Lucy....I’d be even more of a mad man if I did not jump at the chance of....serving you.” He knew she had said that he shouldn’t serve anyone, but it had become such a huge part of him that it was a necessity to always be under someone’s rule. “.....And I could start now..I believe I’m correct in assuming that you’re...thirsty, Mistress?”
He wrung his hands nervously at her invitation, but moved over to her, sitting at the end of the chaise. His blue eyes darted towards her anxiously at her prodding for information. He sighed and decided to relent.
“Well, I used to be a real estate agent in London though I traveled often. I went to Transylvania to sell Dracula an old abbey when….well, he preyed on my mortal being. Promised me eternal life without the need to hunt human blood. I could get away with eating insects and rats. Things I would have turned my nose up to prior to that evening.” He tapped his temple, “However, my mind…..it doesn’t matter now that I’ve lost my mind….And I regret ever agreeing to serving him for immortality. It’s not worth aiding the agony he causes others..though, if I stop living, I’ll surely not find home with God. So,….as far as what I’m doing….serving the Master…I’m damned if I do, and I’m damned if I don’t…”
♥— “What if you were to serve another?”
Lucy’s tone is cautious, seeing the nervousness in her guest. It is hard enough to ignore the low thudding of his heart without him getting all worked up and making it worse. She bites the inside of her cheek- the pain distracting her from her thirst.
“You spoke earlier of killing him. Why not do it? I would take you in, and not even ask you to serve anything. You shouldn’t be a slave to anyone!”
“Because if I fail, I’m doomed. I’m also far too loyal, but I’ve thought of running away quite often....And I’d much rather serve...someone like you, Miss Lucy,” he said, turning towards her. She wasn’t fooling him. She was thirsty. He’d seen that look from his Master often enough, though he usually fled before Dracula could bite him.
Renfield stopped near the door and placed his hand on the door frame, looking over his shoulder at her. He bit his lip and lowered his head a little, bashfully smiling down at his shoes. He composed himself and turned to face her again. “I suppose we could chat for a moment or two,” he said softly.
♥— “Would you come closer? I’d like to get a better look at you.”
Lucy still seems rather timid, but also curious as she walks across the room to sit on a low chaise. Her slippers make no sound on the wood, making her seem to glide.
“You know what I am.. what happened to me, but I know nearly nothing about you.”
He wrung his hands nervously at her invitation, but moved over to her, sitting at the end of the chaise. His blue eyes darted towards her anxiously at her prodding for information. He sighed and decided to relent.

“Well, yes….but I could never be so fortunate,” he said, lightly chuckling at his morbid joke. His smile fell as he noted her constant unease. “…..Well, Miss Lucy….Again, I apologize.” He unstuck the rose’s thorns from his palm and set it on the windowsill. “If he ever were to do it again, I’d gladly sever his head from his shoulders and let him eat garlic….” With that, he turned to leave.
♥— “Why did you come here, really?”
Lucy can see that he honestly means well, and she feels badly for being short with him. She sighs, running her palms down the front of her skirt.
Mismatched eyes watch him with the rose, her expression softening- he had bled in bringing it to her.
“You.. you don’t have to leave,” she whispers. “Maybe.. maybe we could just talk for a while?”
Renfield stopped near the door and placed his hand on the door frame, looking over his shoulder at her. He bit his lip and lowered his head a little, bashfully smiling down at his shoes. He composed himself and turned to face her again. “I suppose we could chat for a moment or two,” he said softly.
