Michelle Jones was not at all prepared for Liz Allen to walk into school with her hair cut to her shoulders and the tips of her it dyed pink.
MJ considered herself smooth ("as if", Peter Parker would say). Most of the time. But, God, when she laid her eyes on Liz, she nearly tripped on her own feet.
She heard Ned Leeds snort, and she gave him the bird without looking, eyes locked on Liz.
MJ had always found Liz attractive, in multiple ways. Liz was gorgeous, really. And she had always been kind to MJ in the past. And God, was Liz smart.
Liz was the type of girl that made MJ's stomach do a flip.
So, in short, Liz's new hair style didn't particularly help Michelle's schoolgirl crush.
MJ was sat in third period US history, her only class with Liz. Liz's seat was in the second row of the class, three to the left. MJ sat on the fourth, two to the right.
She was supposed to be taking notes, and, to be fair, she had been. For the first... five minutes. Or so.
She had something about the Civil War scribbled on her notebook paper, but she'd tuned out the teacher a while ago. Her eyes were on Liz, who was bent over her desk, writing away.
MJ was focusing on the way Liz's hand moved, the way she seemed to constantly be pushing a strand of hair out of her face, the way she was chewing on her bottom lip.
It gave her butterflies.
She'd been staring at Liz for at least ten minutes when she could faintly hear her name being called.
"-elle!"
MJ's eyes were on the teacher in a matter of seconds. She blinked rapidly as said teacher gave her a scowl.
"Would you please join us?" The words were spoken in a cold way, to which MJ rolled her eyes.
"My sincerest apologies." Michelle spoke, sarcasm laced in her voice. Sarcasm that it seems went unnoticed, because Mrs. What's-Her-Fucking-Name gave a tight smile and went right on back to teaching.
From the corner of her eye, MJ glanced back at Liz. Who was staring right at her.
[I]Fuck.
MJ stared forward again. She didn't think Liz saw her. Right. Liz definitely didn't see her.
Liz probably saw the blush just as pink as her hair that covered Michelle's cheeks, but that's not the point.
