Summary: During the convergence you accidentally fall through a portal to a completely different realm. If things aren't bad enough, you run into Thor and his brother; the man who tried to take over your world only a few years previous. In order to get back to your world, you have to stick around with them while they travel the realms and convince them that Loki is king material. Things take a devastating turn when you end up having to share a tent with the god of mischief himself.
Hey! Just wanted to say I absolutely love your story - Around the realms in 80 days💖 Hope you're doing well — any chance we might get an update soon? 😊
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate that and I really hope to do one soon!! Bit of a life update but I’ve recently split with my boyfriend of 13 years and it’s taking me a bit of time to come to terms with it. Tragically it means I have more time to write but I wonder if writing a love story might be a bit triggering for me rn but we will see! I do want to get back to it as I am really proud of how it was going!

Hiii any updayes on around the realms in 80 days ?:3 or how many more chapters to expect hehe
Hi!!!!!
Ugh I’m so sorry I’ve been terrible recently! Basically things at work have been crazy, we moved under a different part of the service only to then get shut down and have to contact everyone on our wait list to say we could no longer offer a service and then because of that I had to start a new job ect so it’s just been super manic! But hopefully when things settle I will return to it!!
Not sure myself about chapters! It’s a good question but I haven’t got everything finalised in my head so honestly it will be a surprise for me too 😂
One shot summary: You've caught the flu and get board of your own bedroom so look for somewhere else to recover. You are joined by Loki who finds himself helping to keep you better. You end up catching more than an illness.
Mentions of vomiting
Notes: This is kind of stupid, just pure fluff. it's definitely not the best thing I've ever written but I fancied writing something soft so I did. Hope you enjoy.
You felt awful.
It was definitely the flu, and you had definitely picked it up from Chelsea’s birthday party. You shouldn’t have gone out in December wearing a short dress and no coat but you did anyway in the name of not having to lug a coat with you everywhere. Now you were paying the price.
Luckily, the vomiting seemed to have stopped, but you still felt ill and tired. You had been cooped up in your room for days now and you were sick to death of the same scene. Wanting a bit of a change, you decided to go chill out in one of the lounging areas in Stark tower. Amazing perks of working for Stark, include but are not limited to, your own apartment (which you were currently sick to death of no offence Stark) and full access to most areas in the tower; aside from some of the work-out areas that were limited to the Avengers only. Another great perk of Stark Towers living, was getting to see super-hero’s hanging about; Captain America once made you a cup of tea, and it was still your favourite thing to bring up at parties.
You made your way, blanket, tissues, hot water bottle and sick bucket (just in case) to the 14th floor, which had one of your favourite sitting rooms in, and one which you knew would be fairly quiet.
It had a couple of large comfy sofa’s and chairs and a way too big television set for the size of the room. You settled yourself down, switched the tv onto some fairly shit daytime shows and prepared to sleep the day away.
When you woke, you had the distinct feeling that you were no longer alone. You opened your eyes slowly and groggily, and spotted Loki sitting on the armchair opposite. You had completely forgotten that the Asgardian Gods had been staying on the 14th floor during their time in the towers, and you were now apparently gatecrashing their living room. They hadn’t been here long, although you had bumped into Thor a couple of times and embarrassed yourself by forgetting how to speak, you had not really seen Loki around. He kept himself to himself as far as you were aware, and didn’t leave his room too often.
Now however, he was sat in front of you with his legs kicked up on the table in front of him and was currently reading a book you didn’t recognise. He was wearing earth clothes which took you by surprise; Thor wore earth clothes all the time, although you once overheard the black widow explaining that she couldn’t let him go out in a Hawaiian shirt, cargo pants and a leather jacket. Loki however donned black sweatpants and a green t-shirt, and still managed to look majestic. His black hair was loose, and looked curlier than you had seen it. On the other hand, you were in Lilo and Stitch pyjamas you’d had for years and were sure you looked fairly disgusting.
You had heard all of the stories about Loki and New York, despite not living there when it all kicked off, and you had also heard the rumours about mind control and that perhaps it hadn’t been through his own volition. You had to admit, he didn’t look as sickly pale as you had seen on the tv so perhaps they were true.
Under normal circumstances, you probably would have said something or apologised for being in his living room, but your head continued to pound painfully, so you sat up long enough to grab some paracetamol and water before laying back down and going back to sleep.
***
The Midgardian girl was sick. He could tell that much; she was wrapped up in blankets and had a bucket next to him. He hoped she wasn’t going to vomit as he hated the sight. Perhaps her sickness accounted for why, when she woke up and spotted him, she hadn’t run in fear like most do, but ignored him and gone back to sleep. He was mildly annoyed at first to see someone in his living space, although, he thought, it was technically Stark’s and he couldn’t really claim ownership of a shared space. Plus she was quiet and didn’t seem to care about him being in her presence, which made her the best company he’d had since he arrived on this infernal planet.
As the hours went by, he found himself actually kind of enjoying their quiet companionship. So when she appeared the next day in the same spot, he was almost glad to have some company while he read, even if the company was sick and mainly slept.
By now, he started to become interested in her ailment. He was unsure what she was sick with, and lightly worried if she was dying. It would just be his luck for the first human he actually enjoyed the company of to die soon after. He used his stupid portable device Stark had ensued him with to find out what was wrong with her. At first he had found these devices pointless, and they seemed to merely be a way for Thor to annoy him even when they were not in each others presences. Even now he received yet another message from him which contained some silly little pictures including a dancing woman and a moon with a face on it. Norns above.
He had however, discovered that The Google could be a useful tool, and seemed to have an encyclopaedic knowledge of midgardian pop-culture. Loki spent most of his time using it to google what Stark’s stupid monikers meant.
He typed in some of her symptoms including sickness and headaches. He managed to narrow it down to influenza, which to his relief, was unlikely to kill someone who was as young as she seemed. Now fairly happy that she was not dying, he went back to his reading.
They continued in a fairly silent companionship, and he found his spirits lifting when he heard her chuckle under her blanket at a joke he had made at Thor’s expense after he had bumbled in earlier.
On the third day, she appeared slightly brighter and managed to stay awake for longer. Loki noticed that this mortal girl actually had very pretty eyes when she kept them open long enough for him to admire them. They talked a little about the book he was reading and other literature, and he discovered she was a fan of midgardian classics, some of which he had read and could even admit where good; for midgardian literature of course. She had apologised for the tv series ‘friends’ that seemed to be on in the background most of the time they had been together. Loki hadn’t really minded, and was even secretly starting to watch it instead of reading; he was beginning to wonder if Ross and Rachel were ever going to get back together. He didn’t tell her this of course. When Thor came in to generally bother him and be a nuisance, she had laughed again at his silly quips, and he wondered what else he could say to get her to laugh again. When she had fallen asleep in the afternoon, he sent a jet of magic to warm her hot water bottle as she slept, and kept her tea warm in case she woke.
By the fourth day, he actively looked forward to something for the first time since being here, getting to make his way to the living space and talk to the ill mortal. When he got there, he noticed she had taken a turn for the worse. Her skin had a sickly gleam on it and she was shivering under her blanket. She was restless too, normally she lay still, but today she was turning about with her face scrunched up, as if she was uncomfortable.
Loki panicked, and referred back to The Google. It suggested she could have a fever, a raise in temperature above the norm. Concerned for his sick mortal, he decided he would try and check and walked over to her, lightly placing her hand on her head to check. She definitely felt warm, warmer in fact than mortals normally felt to him (which was pretty warm thanks to his frost giant blood).
His device suggested trying to reduce her temperature a bit, as well as ensuring she had plenty of fluids. Loki swapped her blanket for a much thinner one and refilled her water bottle. He continued to keep his hand on her forehead, hoping that might cool her down.
***
Waking up with Loki peering down at and his hand on your head was not on your “living at Stark Towers” bingo card. Once he noticed you were awake he leapt back quickly as if he had been burnt.
“You were shivering.” He stated stiffly.
“Oh, I have the flu, sorry.” You weren’t sure if he was annoyed at you or not.
So far Loki hadn’t spoken much to you, although he had been putting up with your presence over the past few days, maybe you had taken things too far by having a fever. You hoped not, you had been enjoying having him around while you were sick, it was nice to not have to wake up alone. Sometimes he would read a little out-loud to himself, or if you were really lucky humming and once, just once, you caught him singing. You liked listening to his voice you had decided, it was much nicer than listening to the constant re-runs of Friends that were usually on. It was nice of him to let you leave the T.V on too, despite the fact you slept through most of it. All in all, it had been better company than you initially thought.
“You haven’t been drinking much today, The Google says mortals should keep their fluids up when they have influenza.”
“Er- yeah you’re probably right.” You sat up and grabbed your water bottle.
Weird, you thought you had forgotten to fill it up this morning.
Loki took another step back.
“Hey, did you swap out my blanket?” You asked him, noticing a much thinner one.
Loki cleared his throat and looked sheepish,
“I did. Apologies. I can change it back of course, I just thought this one would be better to help your rising temperature, but I can change it back, I’ll just change it back for you -”
“That’s alright, this ones better anyway I think I was getting too warm.”
He gave a small smile and nodded. He looked at you shyly before asking,
“I have a spell that might be able to help you sleep more restfully?” He posed as a question.
“Sure that would be great thank you.”
Loki came closer again and rested his hands upon your forehead. His hands were very cold, and they felt nice on your feverish skin; you sighed happily.
The effects were instantaneous, and you started to feel sleepy.
“Thanks for helping me. You have really cold hands by the way, they’re really pretty too. I’m not sure how hands can be pretty, but yours are. I suppose they match the rest of you like that”
You said drowsily, your eyes starting to shut.
“You should rest.”
“Mm. Can you read to me please? I find it calming.”
Days later, you would wake up in the middle of the night, having flash-backs of telling Loki he had pretty hands and asking him to read for you and it would make you cringe so badly you nearly died of embarrassment. But for now you were too tired to care.
“Of course.”
You were lulled to sleep almost immediately.
The next day, you finally felt more like yourself again, so you showered and wore some clothes that weren’t pyjamas for the first time. You wanted to head back to Loki’s living room, and show him that you were capable of not looking like a sweaty mess. God damn Asgardian Princes who always seemed to look good. You were still feeling fatigued and snotty, but you were at least able to talk to him without falling in and out of sleep. You felt slightly nervous today, because you were a bit more ‘ with it’ than you had been these past few days, you were also more aware of what you looked and acted like.
Your nerves were quickly diminished, and you found talking to the God just as easy as when you were sick.
***
“How have you found living in the towers? I don’t see you around with the others?” She asked him.
He wasn’t sure how to tell her that since living here he had received a hel of a lot of animosity and very few people had talked to him like she had.
He was surprised she had come today. Now she was feeling better, he assumed she would have stopped visiting but he was thankful she had.
“Not many people particularly want me to be around, darling.”
“Because of the New York thing? Didn’t everyone know that that wasn’t your fault?”
She looked at him with those very pretty eyes, which were staring at him inquisitively.
He smiled sadly,
“Not everyone beliefs that, many people have their doubts.” He said softly.
She frowned. He had decided that he hated seeing her frown, it made his stomach twist and he wanted to reach over and smooth it over. He much, much preferred to see her smiling or laughing.
“I have to go back to work tomorrow.” She looked sad about this too. “So I won’t be able to come here.”
“Oh.” He supposed this was always going to happen at some point. He wished she could keep visiting like this but to do so would be to wish sickness upon her which he would not want.
“Yeah.” She looked glum.
Loki was a little surprised she had enjoyed his company over the past few days, and his hopes raised at the realisation that she was as upset as him at their time coming to an end.
He cleared his throat, praying to the Norns that he was on the right track,
“Perhaps we could still continue to meet, even if you cannot visit here everyday.”
She looked up at him, starting to smile again,
“Really? Do you…do you want to continue seeing me? Well not seeing me seeing me obviously because were not seeing each other but like…continue meeting up maybe? There’s this coffee shop not to far from here if you would like to go after I finish work tomorrow?”
This is so soft and gorgeous, @mistress-ofmagic you are such a wonderful writer…the flashback to the hands comment made me giggle. I loved how YN was so relatably awkward 🤣and lokis concern for her was too adorable, Googling away like a fiend.
Loki panicked, and referred back to The Google. It suggested she could have a fever, a raise in temperature above the norm. Concerned for his sick mortal, he decided he would try and check and walked over to her, lightly placing her hand on her head to check.
